This video was the first place I ever heard Wildwood Flower, a year and a half ago. I clicked on the video to hear Jimmie, and figured I might as well listen to the second song. It's been my favorite song ever since.

I have a long play album purchased about 1970 featuring Jimmy Rogers. On the back side of the cover is information stating that the trumpet being played for one of the songs is the first known recording of the great Louie Armstrong.

I grew up with Jimmie Rogers and A.P. Carter, and many other well-known very down to earth singers. Today, I love to sit out on the front porch and sing so many of these songs what brings tears to my eyes. Because, today--this is what's missin in Our American culture. These beautiful songs what describes our former life in our good ole USA, in such a way as it used to was
It was so innocent and beautiful. We had good times in this manner.

@@toro5338 Jimmy Rogers died a year or two after these recordings of tuberculosis. Not so good. Calvin Coolidge’s son died from a blister he got playing tennis on the White House lawn. He developed blood poisoning. When I was a kid people got polio and had to live in iron lungs. Things much better now despite what some say. Crime is lower ironically cars safer. I think you meant good old days gone?

@paulnicholson1906 Hi, well, not being a US citizen, I of course cannot compete with your knowledge 'bout it.
Nevertheless, I've been in your country many, many times.
I surely can say I put "the tires of my rental car" on 21 States.
So, along those beautiful trips I could see, I could enjoy, I could also speak with inhabitants.
I found them very open to chat and to be friendly, even just for an evening.
In short, I'm keeping in my heart lots of nice moments.
And in regard to the music, well, my favourite are: the old country music (been in Luckenbach more than once) and the great old jazz as well 👍💪
Wish you health and love. Greetings from Switzerland.

Yup. I remember many a Saturday night listening to the am radio with only the fireplace and or the single bare light bulb to light the house. I knew and appreciated every song on that radio. We made a gallon of butter every Sat. night. Mom saved the cream off the milk from the cows. She put it in a 1 gal. wide mouth jar. We would each shake the big jar 100 shakes then pass it to the next person. Usually byy the time the jar made the circle we had big lump of cream. Some of it always went home with the visiters. A thin milk was left over in the process. Bluish in color. Called it, " blue john".
Its how many children learned their numbers.

These people are the greatest, Jimmy, Mother Maybelle, Hank. But what’s the need so many feel to say - and course you’re hardly alone - “Now this is MUSIC, not the noise of ... untalented ... wackos.” The need to put others down while praising the music you love - and which those others might love too, if they heard it -suggests that you have some self-esteem problems, because what YOU love is superior to others’ preferences. Every musician makes noise? Everyone is an untalented wacko? You think Mother Maybelle said that about Hank, whose sound was different from hers, recorded much later? I doubt it. This isn’t Georgia vs. Georgia Tech.

@@haroldsteinblatt2567 I couldn't have said it better myself. I would also like to add that you can't compare apples to oranges. You gotta judge wether or not a song is good by comparing it with its contemporaries at the time. You can't compare The Lighting Express and Bohemian Rhapsody and say which one is better. They're like an apple and an orange. Some people may like one or the other, but you cannot quantify one's quality over the other. It would be like saying a fish is stupid because it doesn't know how to walk.

Entirely agree but I never got yodelling. Through these You Tube posts I have found many people I had not heard too much of. Radio in London in the 50s and early 60s was appalling. Jimmy and the Carters were inbred on my by my Canadian father.

Accountability. Just what makes thee ALLIANCE or United Nation League or such think 🤔 ya’ll are above the law? But you all burden poor men & women with burdens they cannot 🐻? Selah. (Pause and thjnk calmly on this) Then flaunt your riches in the poor slaves faces. Your highness how can you all sleep 🛌 with the conditions of the builders and workers who are to stay on the outskirts of Dubai? They ain’t even allowed in the city 🌃 off work!! They take their passport and make them pay high cost green cards! Then they never get paid on time and work 12 hours in the hot 🥵 desert heat!
