Ukrainian Foreign Legion soldier loadout (Training/Informational purposes)

- A show and explaination of what I and others in Ukraine are training and fighting with and how we organize our equipment. Loadouts are mine and are intended for educational purposes only. No violence included in video.
Imagine a US soldier fighting in Korea or Vietnam recording a breakdown of the gear he's carrying to combat
They wouldn’t do it.
hey guys this is FMJ_actual with another vid today *smokes weed* we’re gonna go over the kit use here in the nam
Imagine a modern day infantryman shooting a bunch of smack he bought from a Cambodian farmer/ informant for the VC. Then shooting up high at the tree line because of something gay that Allen Ginsberg said. ✌️☮️🪖

It's the age of internet and social media. In my days of service early to mid GWOT, we wouldnt of thought of doing the shit these soldiers , sailors and marines do now on their phones for the sheer fact that it breaks every protocol of operational security.
I wonder if the Ukrainian VA will deny his claim for back pain in 15years. “Thanks for fighting for our freedom, but your claim is not service connected. Here is 10% for tinnitus”
They won’t get anything they’re volunteers
😂😂
Facts! Tinnitus is their go-to to shut veterans down! “At least you get $145 for the hearing loss “…. Freaking sad…
😅😂😂😅
I cannot explain this to you, you just live to experience it and then it will click.
In 2005, on my second tour to Iraq, I was outfitted with the very latest, and best equipment, my load out was smart and all my gear was sensible. (All new vest and gear, and helmet and carbine.)
On my first movement with “older, 2005 era” Soldiers, the grizzled Vets simply walked away from us at night.
We were in three wedges going to our ambush position for the night, we were moving in “traveling overwatch wedges.”
Wedge one was the grizzled Vets, a rag tag collection of uniforms, older body armor, and very few pouches on the vest. Wedges 2 and 3 were the new “ACU Army” guys. I was the leader of the two ACU wedges and the overall leader of the three wedge patrol.
The older, DCU guys were so much more light weight, their lack of weight gave them a longer step and a more lively gait. In the darkness they merely out paced wedge 2 and 3, they weren’t walking fast, they were just walking, we on the other hand, in comparison, were walking much slower. It was like we were deep sea divers walking on the ocean floor, that’s an exaggeration but you get the picture.
This was my second tour to Iraq, I was there in 2003-2004, back then we had nothing. Now I at least felt equipped and lethal, ready for anything.
But my “Road Warrior” buddies were lightly equipped and barely kitted out. On that first movement I realized how “over gear’ed” we had become. We didn’t notice this because for all our previous deployment training stateside we were all rocking the new body armor, all the new magazine pouches, water bladders, admin pouches, knives, flashlights, grenades, pyro, IFAK’s, radios, all of it, but we were all the same. Fully loaded we were all rocking 70 pound vest.
This Ukrainian Foreign Legion guy reminded me of that night. It doesn’t matter what you carry, it depends on what your element or group around you carries also. If they are light weight raiders then so are you, if they are loaded down fortresses defenders then so are you.
14 magazines for the 7.62 MM SCAR is a lot of weight, the SCAR itself is a sort of support weapon, and on top of that, carrying and using a M320, with 10-12 grenades…? And frags? And body armor? And water? That’s a slow mover, I hope he can keep up.
Always remember: Load outs need to match your mission and they need to be compatible to your mission space. Now, if your mission has you integrating with others, hopefully your load out isn’t so heavy that your action partners (your other teammates) move twice as fast as you.
Later when I was in Afghanistan (2010-2011) I saw modern day light fighters rocking lightweight plate carriers and 3-4 magazine load outs. The evolution had happened. The infantry was fast and nibble again.
Now I try to always have the most slick setup I can get away with, “instructor gun belts” and “instructor packs.” But like I said in the beginning, you have to live this to realize I’m just carrying too much good stuff.
Good luck my dude.
Thanks for the video.
Thank you for that story. You nailed it on the head. Ive explained this so many times to people online. Sometimes and for some guys in my unit they NEVER WEAR ARMOR. Just a chest rig with ammo and magz, and radio and sidearm, and a baseball cap. Speed and agility and communication is your armor. And like i said in the video it just depends. Depends on the mission. A recon mission is more like what you are refering too. Because if u guys were going to ambush then you would need literally AS MUCH AS YOU CAN PHYSICALLY CARRY. You are gonna get into a sustained contact with an enemy that may be as equipted as you. So you cannot go "super light" to that type of engagement like i believe you are implying. Now if we were going to "scout" or recon an area, then possibly we will have lighter load outs. But in Ukraine, when your in contact usually its a big fight. 15 magazines and you will still wish you had more when on ur last one. So imagine telling me in that moment that i should be lighter and have less...........Negative. For my unit, we have an expectation of about 15 magazines. Thats not a random number someone made up. There is a precedent or example of that amount of ammunition being the minimum needed. That was shown over the first year + of the war by the guys in my unit that analysed things like that. Amoungst many other things. We ruck in over long distances, at night, in ukraine as well so believe me i understand. But if you want to stay alive in the fight, you have to take more ammunition than the enemy and implement that ammo properly in the fight. This conflict really struggles to compare to Afganistan. Maybe Iraq. But the enemy is far different. Actual overwhelming artillary is to be considered as well. But Overall, your idea is very correct. And as i said, many guys wear chest rigs instead of plate carriers. And in Ukraine, on the front or not even on the front but in past areas that have been retreated from, YOU MUST WALK IN A SINGLE LINE FORMATION to avoid mines. Usually with Sappers in front also. So we would not end up in the situation you found yourself in with your 3 fireteams.
But your insight is greatly appreciated and i Love you discuss things like this. Even if i dont agree. So thanks for watching and thank you for sharing you experience man.
Also bro, this is a Polish Grot 5.56. Not a Scar H 7.62.

Ukraine isn’t like the GWOT stop comparing it, it’s a slug fest of artillery, drones, trench CQB and dead lands with some urban areas

A true warrior. Fighting for those who need help. God bless you brother. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I’ve heard from guys over there that most infantry HATE the Grot, I talked to a guy who’s unit got a few of them and by the end of the week those guys were trading their Grots back in for fixed stock 74s. I don’t understand why Poland hasn’t donated Beryl rifles by the truckload… it’s a rifle all Ukrainian infantry would be familiar with, it’s got a setup that allows easy use of optics, lights and laser designators and almost most importantly it runs 5.56 which would allow for some type of ammo standardization considering how many NATO caliber weapons are in service in Ukraine.
They donate what they don't need or simply want to test in combat. It is perfect opportunity for countries to put weapons they want into testing in a combat environment before issuing to their own troops.
@@Raz_Tactical right, but from what I understand they’re not just eliminating the Beryl from service (over time of course) they’re actually selling/repurposing the tooling to the point where civilian variants of the rifle will no longer be available despite their fairly consistent popularity in the face of limited 5.45 in the west, although you do have a good point given the God awful combat reports from Ukraine regarding the Grot I would think any procurement official would take a pause to reexamine the adoption since they’re getting a dry run against the exact military fighting force they see as the greatest threat to their security.
A lot of people are missing that he mentions usually carrying 15 magazines. This is someone who's actually getting into fights. Hate seeing the internet experts who're convinced that three mags in a slick plate carrier is an acceptable loadout.

@@don8659 thanks man. The shoulders are sinched up to the max unfortunatly. But because of the load on the front side plus the buckled in 40mm belt it does pull it down. This is a heavy kit. @@AlexanderMachiavelli anytime. I ran a JPC in the army for awhile, awesome kit. But yeah the 40mm are a pain for sure. Try fishing Paracord through the molle from under the 40mm and pull it op through molle, shoulder straps then tie and knot it to some molle on the back. If those grenades get shot, do they blow up?
They shouldn’t. They have an arming distance that basically means after they’re primed they have to rotate a certain amount of times. Think a football spiral. About 14 meters distance from firing it will be armed, as that’s the distance to achieve the proper amount of rotations. Just at the casualty radius from the operator which is about 15 meters.
@@rwhumphreys2181 well said by humphrey. Each round has like a ball inside that needs to rotate around the inside a certain amount of time depending on the model of grenade, before arming itself. 45-90 mtrs usually but they are 8-10 mtr variants.
