Unpopular opinion: there are so many toxic spaces within the witchcraft community and it's honestly a serious problem.

Oh I agree. there is so much toxic "opinions" that if you don't find something right off that fits for you it is harder to find later, because you keep getting told everything is bad or culturally appropriated "even when you have a blood line to something or culture line" and have to unlearn that certain things are good or bad. when in reality all Magic is Grey.

Yes, specifically there are a lot of persons acting snootily. They always try to act as if they are the only persons knowing what they are doing. I have seen this a lot with peolpe asking questions how to do a working and then a nother persons just tells them, that such working shouldn't be done by them or they should work on their shadow instead. I totally agree to do shadow work or to think twice abt. a working, but if they ask for information why do they need to lecture them all the time.

Oh definitely! I got yelled at online for cultural appropriation because I incorporate a lot of Celtic beliefs and mythology into my practice, the thing is I'm actually Irish born and bred. I've seen so much hate for people practicing 'black magic' as well. The problem is there are toxic spaces in every community which is a shame

My unpopular opinion is that just because a certain colour is used for a specific purpose ( such as purple = psychic abilities, wisdom and calmness ) doesn’t always have to be that way. I think that if you are doing a particular working and you need to use a yellow candle but your gut is saying “ no use the orange candle “. I say use the orange candle. I believe that your intuition and gut feelings is stronger than anything else

Same, while I will often check the correspondances of herbs before starting my spell, I will often just grabs what feels right and maybe later see if I could use this for something exact related to the working. Nutmeg for me is one of my go tos, I don’t even remember what it’s suppose to do, but it goes in a lot of my spells and I feel like that works better than an herb someone says I need

    • @nicolebillard1932
      @nicolebillard1932 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yup. Just like sound/vibration. It's in the use and intention and what works for the situation. A particular tone/note/vibration isn't actually going to focus on one 'chakra' or another... How different brains hear sound and the eyes see colour is just like how every body and soul are different. Though I WILL say that while Koya is totally right for the most part, I'm sure we all double check on the herb substitutions if we're ingesting the plant or smoke or tea. :D Just sayin'.

Unpopular Opinion: Most things that happen to people actually have mundane reasons & not magickal reasons. That's why I feel it's important to eliminate the mundane before moving to the magickal.

    • @lauralittlemark4079
      @lauralittlemark4079 2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

yes! I'm so tired to see people always thinking that every little thing happening must be supernatural, magical or spiritual when is often just mundane. you can read things as magical, but it doesn't mean it's all magical whatsoever. it's the Occam razor, and a lot of people would need to learn about it

It is not as unpopular an opinion as you may think. In fact it is a proper course of discernment. And yes...the stream of Causality follows the path of least resistance mostly... if you hear hoofbeats think horses, not zebras...If you get zebras it is s pleasant surprise. To not have them when you have hoped for them, it usually a disappointment...

      THIS THIS THIS
I've seen so many people in and out of the spiritual literally lose their shit over the smallest things. it reminds me of ghost shows where they scream at every little sound that could be from literally anything other than a ghost. Not every dream is a sign, not every animal you see is a deity reaching out. Sometimes a black cat crossing your path is just getting somewhere.

    • @nicolebillard1932

It's EASY to blame 'the other' for everything... it's also an ego boost. Humans don't like the fact that we aren't MORE or SPECIAL. We are a part of all that is and all that is is a part of us. If something normal happens to us, that makes us normal. Something 'other' makes us special. *yawn.

I agree with the ancestors thing! My grandmothers would both kill me! 😂. A priestess I used to know told me, “you can still work with them. Now that they’re on the other side, they know Christianity is fake.” And I was like ehhhhh. Nah. It wasn’t fake to them. And they abused my parents. I’ll pass.

I feel you on that, like first I don't wanna work with a couple of assholes, like it doesn't matter if they're related to me. Also I currently believe that what you believe in is true for your reality, so if you believe in Christian heaven, there might be an afterlife like that for those people or even a reincarnation that fits their description, like there is infinite dimensions.

I think that most people who are "no love spells" usually think of "obsession spell" that is often refered as "love spell to get your crush" - one you put on person of your desire and if feelings are unrequited it is quite unpleasant to the said person. Most of people interested in using this will be teens, unaware of consequences, both for object of their desire and high backfire rate. But I also think that education is better deterent than making this taboo...

    • @wendykleeb2071

I've cast a spell to a guy I had a crush on before with an intent to send him courage and confidence to ask me out and *it worked!* This is a huge taboo amongst modern practitioners and I was even told by my friend to *never ever* even try that. I've told the guy about the spell years later and he was completely okay with it.
Forcing people to do something or doing things to them that they wouldn't agree with is dangerous and wrong, but the "never do love spells" or "never do spells on other people" sounds way too dogmatic for me.

  • @audgepodge381
    @audgepodge381 2 ปีที่แล้ว +127

I believe what matters the most is the intention you put out there during spell casting. I don't think there is such strong set of rules, it's unnecessary. I prefer using my intuition as guidance.

    • @jamesgoesoff1992

I agree to an extent. for most people intention is just a step toward a result. for me, the process of refining and rewording my intention has often led me to reconsider if I want to cast the spell or do the ritual. I also have the opinion that the more deserving I feel of the result the quicker it comes to me, so a subtle change in the wording of my petitions brings about a mindset change that brings quicker results. I cannot overstate the importance of a well-thought-out intention.

Ex-Wiccan here. 🙋‍♀️✨️Thank You So Much✨️ for addressing that You DO NOT have to be Wiccan to Practice or learn about Witchcraft. As an Indigenous Practioner, I was luckily warned about staying Wiccan by some very Magickal Aunties that Wicca "borrows"/steals several different ancient Indigenous traditions & festivals from different cultures & countries to homogenize it into their own accessible religion. Thanks to my Solitary Witch Elder Aunties, They were able to help me understand that it was actually Indigenous Shamanism that I was growing up into, but nowhere in Wicca is that even addressed. Old Habits die hard, & I still observe the Sabbats & the Esbats, but with a greater connection to the actal Elementals, deities, & lands where the traditions originated vs relying on what other Wiccans or Covens interpret it to mean for them. Wicca can open the door, but ultimately it is You who has the *Choice* of what Path or Paths of Craft & Magick You want to Practice. 🔮✨️💖✨️🔮

I have mostly a Celtic family heritage but I do have a bit of Inuit and two others indigenous DNA as well. And I to started off as wiccan. But he believes in the great spirit as do I but I don't know if it would be proper for me to as well. I was raised christain but I do not fit in that box far from it actually. My I as respectfully your or your elders opinion on this because I have Great Respect for the indigenous people and I have always been VERY drawn to there spiritual beliefs and ways my mother always took me to Cherokee North Carolina as a child I think she wanted me to learn my cultural people's ways. I hope you don't mind me reaching out and asking I do so with nothing but pure love and respect and honesty. And I do know there where blonde haired blue eyed Cherokee I was told that by and really nice indigenous man there and he said he could see it in me and made me have happy tears.🙂

I totally love this video especially on the topic on man-made vs natural crystals. As someone who work on crystal healing in my practice. I see man-made crystals as an alchemic process which is apart of elemental magic as a hold. So with this I feel all crystals have strong properties.

I listened to a podcast guest (perhaps on the Fat Feminist Witch) where the interviewee was a geologist and spoke about how on lab made crystals have the same make-up as natural ones.

    • @HuneyBeeMyName
      @HuneyBeeMyName 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Absolutely! Personally, I steer clear of most man made crystals, BUT that doesn’t mean they are without merit. For thousands of years, witches used what was available and that was all there was. Unless you’re gathering every single element you use in your practice from around your home or within walking distance in nature, take a seat and think about why you’re being so judgy.
All of this said, there is *something* in opalite that really sets things off for me. I react very strangely to it and plan on further study.

Agreed! I mean for anyone that utilizes crystal singing bowls, crystal pyramids and merkabas in of itself is manmade but utilizes silicon! These are 99.99% silicon [quartz], but it's lab created. The composite of Si [Silicon] and the chemistry does.not.change.! It would behoove our community to get a basic understanding of how chemistry and geology actually works. Poo-poo'ing "manmade" crystals is a farce and all should be accepted! xo

I believe one of the unpopular opinions is that young witches or new witches or the term baby witches comes to mind cannot teach us anything we can teach them. I find this to be completely faults I have learned so much from new witches. They have fresh ideas sometimes we are stuck in our old ways. Especially if we've been practicing for 50 plus years like I have. I think we should be more open to learning from everyone and every source.

That "deep cleanse" comment struck a chord (in a good way). I've been doing purification, cleansing, banishing and protection rituals for the past months or so to clear out the mountains of negativity I have been dealing with over the past few years: job issues, money problems, constant self-hatred etc.
In doing so, I tried to reach out to someone (of the opposite gender) who I thought was friendly, then promptly and innocently told my partner of nearly 4 years about it, as I simply wanted to make a friend; and ended up getting dumped by one, then given a list of rules, expectations, excuses, caveats etc from the other (who thought I was looking for something else).
Long story short, over the weekend I manifested my goals to clear out the negativity, cleansed my home of the residuals (with the salt-filled shot glasses cleanse from the smokeless cleansing video) and my protections prevented me from getting caught in another toxic web of puppet strings. So yes, magic works but it can hit like a Mack truck on a freeway. Life hasn't been this comfy and positive in YEARS

    Great video!
My unpopular opinion is that if on one hand the fact that witchcraft and the occult have become easilly accesible to anyone has lead to the pagan renewal and the possibility to rediscover spirituality, on the other this very thing has had many negative consequences, for example the oversemplification of spirituality, or bringing it down just to a "cool" instagram post for some likes, and in general loosing sight of the real purpose of it... not to mention the fact that wicthcraft/pagan community online is often very toxic.

It’s so important too, to just let your magic flow naturally and not feel obligated to do things a certain way. I let ancestors that are helping and kind speak to me by themselves and they still do… and I can hear them clearly when I’m not stressing about it…

Happy I found this video. I’ve struggled with the idea of working with my ancestors (once I’m more settled in my practice). My lineage is heavily rooted in the Baptist Church & may even go back to one of the first Baptist preachers in Virginia. There is also a line that we’re Quakers. I could never see how reaching out to them would be a good thing when I no longer want anything to do with any of the Abrahamic religions beyond reading about them in history.

Great video. Most of my opinions about modern witchcraft would be unpopular, but I've been practicing for over fifty years. I guess if I wanted to rub most people raw, I'd say witchcraft isn't a religion. It can be spiritual; it can be positive or negative depending on the disposition of the witch, or it can involve relationships if one works with entities. By my research, every religion had/has its witches, and they were always on the margin rather than mainstream establishment.

But i also order herbs, because even tho i try to work with the herbs and traditions of my area and adapt my magic to the season, there are just some thing i cant grow or harvest safely.
And for some witches, who may live in citys it may be even harder to grow and harvest, so i soooooo agree with that you dont need to harvest and grow things to be a witch :)

Agreement and commentary on the first opinion: As someone who has been very 'left-brain' capable with magick but only recently, after years of shadow work, have arrived at a place where I know myself and can communicate with Spirits, I can attest to the "fake it til you make it" approach. I found myself in a tough place. I learned chi through martial arts when I was young, so I understood the basics of raising and redirecting energy. I've always been decent at meditation and dreamwork. With those, I found that I could go pretty far in any magickal training I undertook, technique-wise anyway. Communicating with Spirit was always difficult as I was still rejecting many parts of myself. Butthurt by the rejection of a community that did not accept the ways that disparity manifested, I moved half across the country to a totally new climate. It took years of digging through PTSD, self doubt, and judging myself by the standards of those who did not Love me before I finally found acceptance and Love for my Self in all my Parts. I found within what I was seeking in community, teachers, traditions, and texts. With that, energies that I only worked with through my mind now spoke to me through my heart. Even though my mind was strong enough to 'muscle' the energy into doing what I wanted (especially with rage behind me), it's only recently that I've learned to communicate with the relevant Spirits and make offerings/requests. So much better than just using rage and ego to twist it into what I wanted and then wondering why even the most positive intentions had negative results. Considering I broke away from christianity and moved towards magick and paganism almost 30 years ago, I can honestly say without doubt, without need for human validation, that today I am a Witch. If you feel the call to magick, it's deep down and does not go away as you grow up like childish things naturally do, then perseverance and trusting your feelings (more than emotions) will help get you there.

Re: plastic, I'd also point out what petroleum products ARE. Fossils. Many plastics are made of truly unfathomably old living things, some of the very first living things of this world.
Nothing is truly "man-made," only assembled or re-shaped from the natural world. Disdaining plastic in favor of glass or ceramic, etc., is like disdaining paper because you prefer to chip your words into stone. It's just more work - which is a valid preference, but not inherently superior for any given project.

Well done! You're so well spoken.
best point IMHO: bad and good/dark and light is all about opinion and perspective. The work starts with understanding perspective and exploration of intention. THEN add huge doses of humility and introspection. Know thyself, do the work, don't assume you know, be open to surprise learning.

I wanted to watch this when it came out but obviously wasn't able to. In thinking about the unpopular opinion that some people just can't be a witch or anything else...my possibly unpopular opinion is this: it's none of our business who supposedly can or can't do x, y or z. Practicioners need to focus on their own practice and stop putting people in boxes or labeling them. And in my experience yes it is true that some of us may be naturally more psychic or able to manipulate the subtle energies and be very good at it. It is also true from what I've seen and experienced in many areas, that when someone is passionate about something they do, even if they aren't very good, they will improve and achieve in time if they retain their passion And are willing to learn, change their mindset and themselves where needed and grow. Too many people are overly concerned about what others are doing, can or 'cannot' do and that reflects a controlling, judgemental nature at best, narcissism at worst. No one should limit others or make assumptions about their potential or lack of it. The only exception is if someone is doing harm. Blessed Be!

I can only speak as a Hellenic pagan and of a non-Hellenic pagan wishes to approach one of our Theoi with cleanliness and respect, I do not see the issue.
It is a religion that is older than most of our bloodlines; it is a religion based upon dozens of individual city-states that fought and traded with one another; it is a religion that has changed over thousands of years.
I do understand when it comes to religion that has been oppressed and disenfranchised, of course; like the various religions of indigenous Americans.

In regards to the rules for love spells versus other spells, that lack of understanding seems to come from a lack of reflection on how casting these spells will work. I realized very quickly casting spells to get promotions or pay raises are just a form of manipulation. To make that happen, you have to directly influence the person capable of giving you that promotion or pay raise, and that's not cool. At that point you have to completely rethink what it is you want out of the situation. In which case if you want a promotion, maybe put in extra effort at your job, work extra hours, work on your customer service skills if thats what you do. All of these are things you can work on mundanely and with minimal magical workings, but they directly affect you. Maybe you use magic to give you an energy boost to work that extra hour or two. These issues I think do just stem from a lack of contemplation.

Love Spells: I think one of the reasons people get worked up about love spells is 2 fold. One, media representations of love spells have narrowed our view of a love spell to just being something that forces someone to fall in love with us. Two, because of media people interested or starting out in the craft that want to cast a love spell are more likely to cast it like in media, on a specific person.

I only use plastic for freezer spells, it’s very useful for that. I don’t like the idea of the plastic toxins leeching into other types of magical workings.
The “you must work with your blood ancestors” on line pressure got on my nerves for years! Really isn’t necessary in my experience. And it is totally legitimate to be a secular witch with no deity stuff in your practice.
I grow an entire garden of baneful magical plants 🌱 but extremely rarely do what is considered baneful magic. Banishing being the “darkest” spell I’ve done in nearly 40 years. I actually hate the dark/light distinctions. Intention is everything.
I find the banefuls are great for protection allies & healing helpers when grown by yourself as you develop a very personal relationship with them. Also I find they are less toxic than their wild counterparts.
I have wondered if a newer witch looked in my garden if they’d assume I was busy hexing all day long 🤣

If you think you are having trouble making it work, step away from witchcraft and go deeply learn the Law of Attraction. It is the same exact energy. Oh I agree to some degree on this. But it was my siblings that were an example for me. I only recently realized my practices, habits, thoughts, etc technically were witchcraft and finally gave a label to it. However my two younger sisters (only one is blood related), my cousin, and my aunt have all practiced witchcraft in a more conscious manner than me for years. My aunt is pretty compatible but my cousin and my sister that is genetically related to me find it difficult. I, on the other hand, found it intensely easy to understand and use. I know I still have a ton to learn but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s obvious to me that I seem ahead of the curve here, more so than those practicing longer. But who knows, maybe this is just the time before it clicks for them. No harm in letting them try and work at it. If they put the work in, I’m sure they will get results. They may just need to find a more compatible method or new way of thinking about it. The well trodden path isn’t always the best one for all travelers to get to where they need to be.

I am used to using a bunch of herbs or things in spells, but I just did a bath with herbs in it, and I feel like it worked as well as a spell. I always have “ unpopular “ opinions😂
I was a searcher for many years of my life..feeling like I never quite fit in anywhere in physical life and spiritual life. Over a decade ago I met my partner, one of the things that attracted me to her was her calm kind vibration. She practiced Wicca. I inquired about her beliefs as I had only practiced Christianity ( for over 15 years)and I just wasn’t very good at it …. I thought it was because I wasn’t “faithful or worthy enough” so many questions i had about teachings in the Bible went unanswered. The biggest sign for me was my deep sense of people. I had always carried this ability to somehow already know certain ppl before they ever even spoke. It was this internal knowing wether it was good or bad it was ALWAYS correct. Most would call it intuition but it was beyond that and I can’t properly articulate this knowing. Some days I’d be sitting in church and the preacher would be preaching the entire congregation would be getting fired up agreeing with this man spewing these words and suddenly his face would take on a animalistic shape in this specific example it was a wolf. It was not holy or good. It was calculating & evil yet welcoming and attractive. Now let me say for most of those ppl in the congregation this was their life …. Their path and it helped them be the best person they could be so that’s great. It just wasn’t for me. Ppl need to understand that behind all religions are leaders or teachers and they are human and humans error. They are teaching what they have read perceived or have been taught. In my humble opinion witchcraft or anything you choose to practice is all about what you put into it. If it doesn’t sit right with you then it may not be for you. I personally do not do well in organized religion regardless of what it calls itself. I enjoy learning about different religions and in my own solitary practice I take bits and pieces from many different sources and make it my own.I follow the path that feels right for me, a path that I can grow and evolve to be a better human there’s no right and wrong in my life just lessons. As far as materials ( plastics / crystals/tools)no one can tell another what is or isn’t acceptable as it’s not truly about the object yet your intention behind it. I would never be so bold as to be upset or shun another for what works for them. If someone has to convince others that their way is the only was I’d suggest you run the other way😂
When it’s your path you will know … it will be a feeling of rest a feeling of knowing that your safe and can be who you are without judgment or trying to “fit in” ❤️

Unpopular Opinion: Symbolism is personal. In my experience the perception of the exakt same symbol can vary dramatically from one person to another. How the symbol is going to affect your working depents first and formost on how you personally perceive it (meaning how you actually do perceive the symbol, not how you want to see it).
I, for example, had a quite heated conversation with someone about a drawing of a snake in a book. For her is was a symbol of betrayal, poison and overall toxic behavior whilst for me the first thing that comes to mind when I see a snake is healing, espacially mental healing, support and change for the better.
Those different perceptions probably go back to what you said about early learnt things: The person I talked to comes from a very catholic family and though she's been distancing herself from this particular religion for decades now, there still is kind of a catholic filter on her way to look at the world. (Which I don't mean in a bad way, we all have those filters and most of us probably cannot name them - including me.)
But in the end it comes down to the fact that I successfully use snake-related items for healing whilst said person would probably not get the same result even if she put a snake in for healing, just because she doesn't feel about this exakt symbol like I do.
And this, in my opinion and experience, goes for everything that is used symbolically. Symbols work in the way that they are perceived by the person who uses them, not in the way someone else says they can or should be used.

I was raised in a pagan, not wiccan, family but i was always told to hide our practice because it's dangerous to tell people. Because of that I never had a witch community to talk to and expand my knowledge so the only form of practice I know is the one I was raised with. Since getting out into the world I have started talking to other witches and pagans and one thing that I noticed is that a lot of people who identify as pagan seem to hold on to aggression, hate, and unempathetic(I hope that's that's word) views. To clarify I am talking about people who still enjoy the suffering of people they don't like or cast spells without thinking of who they may affect or use pesticides in their garden. I was always told this is wrong and goes against the very fundamental basics of witchcraft. Those basics being an understanding that all beings are part of one whole and what affects one affects all. Is this a normal belief to hold or am I just over sheltered?

No...you are not...but I think rather what confounds you is the thoughtlessness of these Castings...it was more than just the ramifications you were being taught..it was to Cast with Wisdom and forethought. To Cast without consideration is both harmful and ineffective. You know this is true from your experiences and teaching...many need to find this out for themselves and lack the structure of your teachings... I did..... I know you fret, but try to be at ease...we cannot do this for them. Some lessons, even some you had to learn or I , are hard won and indeed must be LEARNED, for they cannot be TAUGHT. AND we cannot do this thing for another, true? They learn or they don't. When they don't the saving grace often is the Casting is of no effectation....this I vouch..and we cannot see all the moving parts. Something's are beyond or ken, and so we must accept things as such. The Weave has taken care of itself long before we came along and long after we are dust, trust in that and it's Nature to find it's own Way...

My unpopular opinion: nothing you can do in witchcraft or in life can take away another person’s free will. Just like no one can take away yours. People can influence one another but we always have choice and autonomy and the universe is working on behalf of all of us.
I’ve never resonated with the paranoia about love spells or anything. How is me wearing a sexy dress different than doing a love spell? Technically I’m influencing the world around me to respond the way I want it to, but ultimately people have choice and free will.

“What you learn first is often what you learn best," is probably one of the best ways to understand our biases and conditioning on not only witchcraft but life in general.
    Two unpopular opinion:
    1. Breaking down our conditioning is very hard, and now people are learning witchcraft mainly from social media. Tumblr, discord, facebook, and instagram are the modern grimoires. You can learn a lot from discourse, but you need the intuition and time to develop skill in anything. Things like emoji magic, selling sigils for exorbitant prices, and doing purely online covens are (my bias) not the way to learn and attune with actual magic and the forces of ancient nature. Put your hands on the dirt and scream to the storms. Meditate in a graveyard, push the boundaries of your beliefs and conditioning. Love and be kind to yourself, but challenge yourself as well. Getting out of your comfort zone breaks your conditioning.
    2. The religious Devil is not the same as the folkloric Devil. Witches can work with the Devil with powerful results, and does not make you a bad person or even a Satanist. A Satanist is a Satanist, witches that work with the Devil are witches… that work with the Devil.

Personally, I like to use natural materials wherever possible, but I also recognize that it may not always be possible and that some people don't have the desire or the means to use the more expensive natural products and have to use the cheaper man made options out of necessity, and still others may use the cheaper options because it feels more right for them. Everyone has their own reasons for what they do and each one is equally correct, because there is no single "correct" way to do these things

I agree with all these comments. You cannot have light without darkness.
My unpopular opinion is when starting out in witchcraft don't run head first into a belief system or deity worship. Just because you decide to become a witch doesn't mean that beliefs like wicca is the right path. To me witchcraft can be described as being like a tree. As such, wicca is merely a branch of it, same with kemetic and Nores. I believe in we are chosen to go down a path. That being said we still have the free will to follow it or not. With me I am a kemetic I serve the Egyptian pantheon. This is because I was chosen to serve them. I cannot be Nores or Celtic as I have not been chosen by them. Even though I am the closest anyone could be of being an indigenous Britten. Another thing is about wicca, is that not all wiccan's are witches and not all witches are wiccan.

My opinion for a beginner is step back from active practice for the first few months and really research your family line. The more you learn about your family line the more you might be surprised, or not, about the bloodline you might be in. Magic honoring who you are and your heritage in some cases helps you have a closer tie to your family, ancestors, natural forces, natural spirits, and abilities you didn't think about. This might lead you to look in a different direction than first thought. As Hearth pointed out what you learn first stays with you and is harder to unlearn. Do you have Celtic or ties to Druids? what about Scandinavian countries? look into some of their older religions and magic, Druid, Asatru, or Traditional English Folk Magic might draw you more. But if you see everything through what is easy to get your hands on it will be harder to unlearn or relearn in a different way. by learning who you are and the heritage that you where born from it helps I think. I hope that helps.

Thank-you for bringing up dark magic, seldom do you hear a full witch ( not Wiccan) honestly talk about this part of craft workings.
We all have a shadow self, denying that is denying growth. Darker magic is effective in protecting, pushing back negative energy, blocking the energy of a contentious person and working with recovery of your shadows. I find it to be an amazing empowerment to embrace the full circle of energy.
For me if you are coming from a religious background Wicca is good for those people. Some of us rebelled from the patriarchy based religions and embraced the olde witchcraft path easily.
Having early powers that may push you forward into study, might be the reason we choose to explore all the workings to understand your powers.

I am not sure how I stand on the first unpopular opinion as you gave so many good points that the person could be struggling with the wrong area of witchcraft and they might be better suited for another area. You give such an open minded point of view that I feel I am agreeing with so much of what you are saying that I no longer feel that not all people should practice witchcraft. I wonder if some of those people studying witchcraft maybe are just studying an aspect of witchcraft through their own beliefs. That being said, I feel it is not my place to say if someone should or should not practice. It is each person's individual decision and it is not for me to 'call out' someone as not magical enough. My own purpose is to work with the elements that I feel most in tune with.

So to piggyback off two of the opinions in the video 1) having an ancestral practice and 2) love spells; I believe that the push for ancestral practice comes from BIPOC creators where ancestral reverence is already part of our cultures, in varying degrees and in differing ways of course. For white people it may seem weird to incorporate ancestors when there's no cultural frame of reference. I.G. it makes more sense for a Taiwainese person to practice ancestral reverence and accompanying folk magic plus some Western esotericism (this is literally what Benebell on YT does) vs. a white person who is unfamiliar with ancestor reverence. But I agree that your ancestors may not like that you're doing witchcraft, BUT I still don't think that's it's a reason to ignore them completely. You can have a good relationship with your ancestors, even if they were Christian. Like I have an ancestor altar with a Bible on it even though I'm not Christian but I went for a spiritual court reading with an espirista and they said that's what they wanted. I just don't call on certain ancestors to help with my spells, I have other spirits for that. And as for love spells, I do think they get a bad rap. As a Libra I LOVE love! I feel like a spell to attract a new partner or to love yourself more fully isn't hurting anyone. I think the problem lies in people not knowing the difference between obsession spells and love spells.
    Here's my unpopular opinions:
    1. Eclectic does not mean you can take whatever you want from cultures that are not your own. You need to have respect for the people and spirits you're borrowing from. Ex. smudging with white sage. Some things are closed for a reason.
    2. Hoodoo is NOT witchcraft! ATRs/ADTs (African Traditional Religions/African Diasporic Traditions) are not witchcraft either. I see way too many uninitiated white folks writing about Vodoun or Hoodoo and mashing it up alongside Wicca and I cringe. I even read a book that made my blood boil because it didn't give a correct definition of Hoodoo. Hoodoo is a magio-religious tradition that stems from an mishmash of Africanisms and Protestant Christianity practiced by enslaved Africans that were brought to the U.S. South. You will see African American witches that practice Traditional Witchcraft and Hoodoo but *do not* mix them up!
    3. Periodic reminder that familiars aren't your pets. (And no the medieval church did not solely make up the lore surrounding familiars; there was already pre-existing lore about witches, animals spirits, demons, and fairies consorting. And it's not European specific either. Read Emma Wilby's Cunning Folk and Familiar Spirits if you want to learn more.)
    4. People spend way too much time pandering to non-witches/mundanes and trying to make everything love and light but the reality is , is that witchcraft is dual in nature. It's about hexes and cures, baneful and beneficent. No matter what you say or do you're not going to get accepted anyway so stop trying.
    5. Too many of the books on Traditional witchcraft are just watered down Wicca.
    6. You don't have to celebrate the sabbats. As an African American, the sabbats as Celtic and Germanic holidays don't even vibe with me, and that includes the lore surrounding the holidays. (I'll still dress up for Halloween/Samhain though lol)

Also OP didn't say anything about "standing in the way of gods when they call others". People CAN have respect for closed practices and still agree that the gods can call who they wish --if the gods call a person outside the usual circles, that person doesn't need to go flashing it around or acting like closed practices mean nothing. There can be more nuance in the equation.

I think with the first one it’s unlikely that they have zero magickal aptitude but haven’t found a way to channel it. There are so many ways to do magick, you could do it through creating art, poetry, singing, dancing, cooking, etc. You can use your hands, you can use tools, you can infuse it in programming, fashion, make, technology, things like metal welding, farming, husbandry, landscaping etc. Even some of the more classical ceremonial magick could be applied to sex or hunting and fishing. Fishing in particular for some people is like meditation. I think the biggest problem is that learning how to do that and what might actually be feasible isn’t readily available. One of the first spell books I’ve ever had luckily showed correspondence to things like numbers, vowels, musical notes, arcane alphabets, runes, sigils, mudras and western counter parts and the like. I luckily never got bogged down with the idea that every spell needed to be done in the context of ceremonial Wiccan magick with circles and calling the elements every time you spell cast

Please continue doing these sort of videos too (the unpopular opinion ones) because I find them very interesting too xx

The natural material one is funny because it's so subjective and they would need to have been mined somewhere. Drastic example but if there was a cave in and several people died at the site you wouldn't know but that could impact the energy. Furthermore my unpopular opinion is that plastic will last for thousands of years which is actually something you can tap into with your spells.
Also very much agree with the love spell vs other spells, my suggestion to others which also can apply to the deep cleanse one is don't start off by wanting something specific instead ask for guidance.
Really good video please do more

I use a lot of heat treated citrine in my practice, and, IMO, the human influence on this stone makes it EASIER to work with. I COMPLETELY agree with you on the "transformative" properties of human influenced crystals.
