another great episode! nice to see the black keys on here! its insane how accurate all your songs sound! I would really look forward to one on radiohead, and I know thats challenging, considering their mix of sound, but maybe go for the in rainbows style? since thats basically a mix, that could work out!
I appreciate the kind words so much, means a tonne that you listened and enjoyed it. Radiohead would be a dream video to make, definitely a tricky one but man would I love to learn from the mind of Thom…
Thanks so so much, it keeps me going getting comments like these! AMAZING suggestions; The Darkness could be a wonderful shout, might get myself on Justin Hawkins Rides again…
@@nick_sapsford it’s actually part of my plan for this year to get on to doing more shorts, seem to have found a small amount of success over on TikTok so it may well translate on TH-cam! Where is this mighty box that you speak of?
@@JohnAzopardi Buried deep in the video details under "show more" there's a checkbox that's autochecked that says publish to your feed and notify your subscribers. Way it was explained to me was like this: Say you have a good short and you check that box. If you have a large percentage of old/inactive/non short watching subs it'll publish to them, see that they aren't interacting so much, decide that the video isn't that great, and bury it in the algo. Whereas if you uncheck that box it just publishes it to the main public feed and if you have a compelling video you have a better chance of people catching it and it taking off. I think you hit my feed in a video cause I was probably watching a lot of tool covers at the time. Smaller audience overall probably for tool, I'd be looking to cover some artists/songs that were real popular. Then just making shorts of your one man band covers or shorts of the making an artists' style song and hoping one of em takes off. You're really talented, keep it up!
@@nick_sapsford I genuinely wasn’t aware of that at all, that’s hugely useful info to have so thank you for explaining it so thoroughly dude. Funnily enough you’ve essentially put into words exactly what my plan for the year has been, transferring my covers to a shorts format and then focusing more on the writing for the proper videos. The covers honestly take as long (sometimes longer) to put together than the actual videos, by keeping them to small sections of songs I can cover more of a bands discography and put more time into writing. I really appreciate the help and the support man, it really keeps me going! Thank you!
Hahaha it always feels like welcome back nowadays doesn’t it! Think I’ve got a plan for this year that should give me more flexibility and time to make these videos. And yes I do! Got one from the same folks who did my LP copy, really fantastic guitar and gives me a lot of versatility when working on music for clients having a HSS strat!
Great to see the series back, man and killing it as always. This definitely gives me vibes of some of their early albums like Thickfreakness, Rubber Factory and Attack & Release mixed with Brothers and El Camino, and I absolutely love it, will definitely be listening to this song on Spotify. I’m also sure that I’ve suggested these at some point in the past but here are some more artists I’d love to see - Pink Floyd (depends on what era you wanna go for) - The Beatles (also depends on if you’re gonna write in the vein of early Beatles (1963-64), mid (1965-66) or later (1967-70) - Metallica - Iron Maiden - Red Hot Chili Peppers - ZZ Top - AC/DC - Cream/Eric Clapton - Linkin Park - The Who - The Rolling Stones - Radiohead - Van Halen - Slipknot - Deep Purple - Rush - Blur - Oasis
Thanks so much my dude I appreciate the patience and your constant listening and enjoying. I’m basically relying upon you for my lists now! So glad you enjoyed the track and saw a little bit of all the Black Keys eras in the song, really wanted to capture what makes them so enjoyable. Can’t wait to tackle some of the bands on this list!
@@JohnAzopardi Lol glad I can help, they’ve always been one of my favourite bands (and I got to see them live in 2022) so I still say that you nailed it as per usual. Definitely still looking forward to more, man, always fun seeing who you do next and I already got the song on Spotify lol
Another question I have that I’ve always been curious about is have you ever sent these songs to the artists you covered, just to get their thoughts on it because I honestly think that Dan and Patrick might find this kinda cool
@@andrewpappas9311 I’ve always thought about it but honestly I wouldn’t know where to start with contacting these people, especially with the swathes of messages these guys probably get every day!
It’s a variation on my normal chain with an 1176 and LA2A on the way in courtesy of my Apollo Twin, preamp cranked, into Slate Digital VMR for some high end boosts and minor sculpting, the meat of the tone comes from a heavy slap back on a send from the vocals (from what I remember it’s Pro R) and Saturn inserted on the actual track on one of the tape saturation settings to give the body and distortion
dude how are you not a massive channel?? this is insane talent. thanks for making my night
Agreed!!!

Hi, @JohnAzopardi you talk about an old blues drummachine 5:55 wat model is that? I want it! 😅
Awesome song! How about The Blue Stones
Could you share what you use for the vocal chain?

@@JohnAzopardi thanks for the details! Now I have to research what all that is!! Amazing job!
How about doing The Hives??
Great shout and a band that has come up a few times, I am absolutely down
