New to your channel! Thank you for laying down doable layouts and sharing your resources. I’m a senior citizen and believe that is not too late to learn a new skill.I love that you said we can repeat patterns or ideas we like. I noticed that if I sit and wait to come up with a new idea that won’t come, I get discouraged. Your kind advice gave me a renew determination to keep trying and is okay to repeat. I ordered the books you showed. Thank you again!!! What a lovely way to express ourselves artistically. I can’t thank you enough!!! 🙏👵💖🕊️
Just so helpful I’ve been struggling with my collage but that one tip about overlapping was a light bulb moment for me. Thank you so much love your videos ❤
Megan, I love this spread. I am new to Collage Soup books, recently purchasing the Flower Power Book, as well as the Abstration Menagerie and love them. YOUR collage art is so inspiring, and your help and inspiration to the rest of us is so appreciated. ❤ As far as the glue stick, I had trouble with UHU and after a subscriber sent me Scotch Permanent Glue Stick, I find that is right up my alley. You might want to give that a try, I love it. YOU are just the best and I can learn so much from your. All your backgrounds are superb, just fantastic. TFS and I appreciate your channel ❤❤❤ ~ Barbie
Yes I always go back to Elmer's glue sticks in the end. Just recently bought a similar book from the artist "Paper Artistry" on Amazon. She makes so many great cut out books and backgrounds. It feels like cheating, but sometimes you just need a quick piece and can't spend hours looking through magazines for the perfect piece to clip 🤷♀️
Thanks so much for this! Love collage and really love Collage Soup. Their website has great freebies and .99 books. You do have to print them yourself but you also don’t lose the back page images. ❤❤❤
These are really great books for college. I love this spread you created. Sometimes I find that all glue sticks from the same company may not work better than others. Living in a high humidity area things change. So i will take a scrap paper and take random cuts from a page and see what glue works that day. Then i use that scrap paper and use it as a masterboard. But I really appreciated todays you tube video, reminding ourselves to just have fun, yes i love that. TY
Thank you for your encouraging words about taking the pressure off ourselves and just having fun. It is a huge struggle for me, and I am slowly learning to just let go. Interestingly, my favorite pages generally are the ones where I didn't try so hard for perfection! You have a wonderful attitude toward the work and it is very relaxing. And I am a word junky too! 😉
I love your art journals - they inspire me but also intimate me! Still you've been doing it a lot longer than I have so I'll stick with being inspired to find my own style. Thank you ❤
Love watching your videos! It was so beneficial to see this completed spread, and I especially appreciated seeing your collage “fail” which I tend to fall in that category more often than not. I have a huge magazine images collection plus empty journals to fill…you’ve given me a lot of inspiration today! Look forward to more videos😊 Thanks!!
Megan you are killing me with this books. Apparently there are 33 of them. I’ve been doing collage for years and always lamented not finding cool images. This company has fixed that. But how to choose. I ending up with the Bohemian Mystics and Hey Diddle diddle. Wish I. Pulse look inside them all. I figure these 2 will last me awhile. Thanks for the video. It was great seeing your process your journal is fabulous. I like working in that kind too. Also I would make a copy of the back page to use.
Oh Megan...GET OUT OF MY HEAD! 😅 I have the same art book, same size. I have that Posca set and I love the same type of art styling. I found myself finishing your sentances while watching thw video lol. I like your style and I am subbing ❤
Thanks for the tip on these awesome collage cutout books! Just what I was looking for. Beautiful collage art. I use those mixed media journals, too. They work perfect for mixed media collage.
Hi Megan, thank you for the great video, I enjoyed it a lot. As for glue recommendations - I am a collage artist too and found that the substraight often plays a huge role in how the glue would stick and stay. Watercolor paper is not always friendly to glue sticks whereas bristol paper is effortless to glue on. Gluing over acrylic paint is a different experience from gluing over watercolour or other magazine clips. The one glue stick that I have been obsessed with is Scotch Create Wrinkle Free Permanent. I know many people dislike it, but for me it works amazing. Great on all surfaces mentioned above. It's getting hard to find though. For sticking larger background pieces I use 'YES! Paste'. Hope that helps. :) I am curious about the gorgeous background of your piece. That golden burnt orange colour is gorgeous and the visual is fantastic. Would you mind sharing what paint you use? (name, brand, etc).
Hello! Your videos keep coming up in my recommendations... I think it's a nudge from the Universe.😏 I do all sorts of arts & crafts, more junk journal making these days... though I don't journal. I just gift them away. Lol However, I have really been wanting to do some collage. I'm drawn to the abstract "mixed media" type. But this is appealing to me as well. The quirkier, or more bizarre, the better! 🤩 You could say, technically, I began collaging as soon as I was old enough to use scissors. My grandma would set me up with scissors, a bottle of rubber cement (yes...I'm old😁) & some of her JC Penny's or Sear's & Roebuck catalogs... then let me go to town.💗 But what I'm appreciating most from your videos, like this one, is I could really use some relaxed, chillaxed, self-love time. More like therapy.💜 The Collage Soup books look wondrous! 🤩 I don't have many magazines, except Nat Geo.😁 These books look full of inspiration! Ty for sharing them. And, thank you for reiterating that this "me time" should be low stress, low pressure... & just fun. I'll be back for more of your tips & motivation.💗 Blessings.💙💙💙
Your page is gorgeous, right up my alley. I have other collage image books but the Collage Soup ones look amazing. Might have to check them out. Thanks for the inspiration.
Megan, love your channel, love your laid back vibe... also you have to get the collage soup book called...Bad Mood Muffins...its fantastically moody and quirky. I just picked up the zines class on teachable and i think i might do a zine with moody girls and muffins...
I just found you and I am so glad I did. I learned so much and enjoyed this video. I am new to Collage Soup books, I received my first one last week and haven't had the nerve to cut it up yet! I am wondering what kind of sprays you used for the background? Thank you for sharing your techniques.
Totally new to your channel, saw it pop-up on the YT homepage, but I did hear your name go around in the Art journal community(so to say), so I thought to check it out. I love your work already. Can I ask, does it matter how to store paintpens? There are markers that need to be stored laying flat, others not necesaarily, but what about paintpens, upright, laying flat?
You are such an amazing artist!- thank you fo r your response - you mentioned an artist called "Rina Sharon" andJane Maree from Sth Africa - just wondering if you could link me to them please - I may have heard them incorrectly - Love your work Megan you inspire me from Marelle - Australia
Oh yes I love using newspaper as well. These books are digital art compilations made for cutting out- like clip art, but for art journaling and collage. I like using magazines for collage, but one could also argue that magazines are finished artworks as well 🤷♀️
Oh I forgot something The glue. I don’t think glue stick work so great. I have used UHU and Scotch. The best thing for collage is YES paste. I wish it came in gluten free stick form. It’s messier as you need to Use a paint brush but nothing glues better than it. You could also run a scraper or a catalyst wedge over the top to make sure it sealed to the background.
Awesome spread Megan. Plz do more of these collages using these books. TYFS Cindy

I'm quite inspired, too!
Good luck on your journey.💙💙💙
Such a lovely comment!
I love your collages Megan, they're bold, gorgeous and artistic with an edge.
Thanks Robin!

I absolutely LOVE your page!! What did you use for the background? The color is amazing!! Love your tips!!❤❤
Just found your videos. Really enjoyable and helpful
Loved all your pointers .
The images are stunning, I love your Nina Simonesque spread.
Thank you!
Megan, love your channel, love your laid back vibe... also you have to get the collage soup book called...Bad Mood Muffins...its fantastically moody and quirky. I just picked up the zines class on teachable and i think i might do a zine with moody girls and muffins...
Omg, that would be a great zine!!
Amazing
I loved watching this! Could you do a video showing how you make your gorgeous backgrounds? Thanks 😊
If you scroll back I have one that talks about backgrounds 😉
Oh cool, thanks!
I just found you and I am so glad I did. I learned so much and enjoyed this video. I am new to Collage Soup books, I received my first one last week and haven't had the nerve to cut it up yet! I am wondering what kind of sprays you used for the background? Thank you for sharing your techniques.
I used Dina Wakley acrylic sprays❤️

@Raina.Sharon and @jeannemarieart
Can you give publishers and more information about collage soup
Cant find it on Amazon..lov from South Africa
This is lovely! How did you make
the caramel background?
Acrylic Sprays
Someone once said that one image on a spread is the focal point, two images becomes a story. Avery glue stick works well.
Thanks for the tip❤
can you show the spray so i know what to buy and also what you paint with
Dina Wakley Acrylic Spray
@@meganquinlanstudio105 and no gesso?
I love your pages. I use newspapers to glue on. Those books are finished art so I'm not sure why anyone would use them.
Oh yes I love using newspaper as well.
These books are digital art compilations made for cutting out- like clip art, but for art journaling and collage.
I like using magazines for collage, but one could also argue that magazines are finished artworks as well 🤷♀️
Suggestion - You could photocopy the image in the back before you cut it out, since you have already paid for the use of the images.
Oh I forgot something The glue. I don’t think glue stick work so great. I have used UHU and Scotch. The best thing for collage is YES paste. I wish it came in gluten free stick form. It’s messier as you need to

Thanks I do have Yes! I’ll give it a go!
Collage Soup books use a lot of AI, so I prefer not to use them. They have some great images though
