Essentially, Russia had complete control of the air space when Ukraine only had Soviet ear MiGs. When Ukraine receives F-16s they will be able to easily target Russia’s most advanced military planes from a safe distance. It will not mean Ukraine will have air superiority. However, Russian aircraft will need to employ the same defensive posture as Ukrainian aircraft, which will have a significant impact on the ground war. Keep in mind that NATO countries have a large number of F-16s and were already in the process of switching to the more advanced F-35. There will be plenty of reserve F-16s available for Ukraine.
Funny how at the beginning all the officials said that jets are offensive weapons and are not supposed to be given to Ukraine because that would cause NATO - Russia conflict officially.
Because all russian red lines have been crossed and nothing is happening. They take putin as a comedian.
Plus, fighter jets can be used as defensive weapons. It is possible the three Russian SU-35s downed the other day were targeted by F-16s. In modern warfare ground troops need air cover, the SU-35s that were destroyed were attempting to release glide bombs packed with 700 kg of explosives. Because glide bombs have to released from a very high altitude they can be easily targeted by F-16 but not by a Ukrainian Mig jet.
Now Ukraine should be smart and dig in, these planes can help protect the line but will be cannon fodder if used in Russian air space.
This is like the counter offensive.
Oh well I guess Russia will have some f16s soon.

It isn't a good sign. France and the UK supplied weapons to Ukraine and now they are out of the elite military list. It will take at least 10 more years for them to balance their military production. In the same way, the USA is in the worst condition, they gave so much funds and equipment. Germany also gave so much renewable energy to Ukraine. Now Netherlands and Denmark want to supply their military equipment too. Later on, it becomes really tough for them to balance their inventory.
Trump warned Europe 6 years in advance. Basically saying if they don't pull finger now and increase miliary expenditure ten times, they will lost the future war against Russia.

Another thing. F16's are not the entire answer. A kamikaze drone is over 1000 times more effective use of money than an F16, when done right.
They need the correct battery packs, the correct size quad copter and then they can strap a RPG or Shape Charge to the drone.

It's interesting. It will be interesting to see if Russia will try to shoot them down before they enter Unkraine and spark a major escalation as this would happen in NATO space. Will see how they deliver the airplanes without taking off from NATO airport and enter a contested sky. This means technically NATO is at war with Russia over Ukraine's sky. So, at the moment they cross into Ukraine's sky, NATO is at war with Russia.
Utter nonsense. The aircraft are being passed to Ukraine. It's no different from the British transferring NLAW missiles and Challenger II MBT's to Ukraine, or any other weapons transfer. Russia will not make any attempt to enter NATO airspace because they would get smashed. The transfer doesn't 'technically mean NATO is at war with Russia,' either. The transfer of F-16's is no different in principle to the transfer of any weapons from the western countries to Ukraine. Putin will not lift a finger against NATO, his useless military can't defeat Ukraine, what chance do you think it would stand against the whole of NATO- which massively outweighs Russia in conventional terms?
Technically, from day one Russia was at war with NATO. Putin made that clear from day one when he stated that Ukraine, a sovereign country, did not have the right to even consider joining NATO.
