I agree with you that things tend to work out as they are supposed to but it doesn’t mean we can’t feel disappointed when they don’t work out the way we want in the moment. Glad you have some other potential adventures in the works!
Jana, you model a healthy mindset for all of us: new opportunities may appear that wouldn't have happened! The Puzzle-Pillow blanket is 90% finished. I'm using 2-ply sheepswool stash leftovers nstead of the recommended 3-ply. This will be a great size for keeping in the car! This plus my stripey W&N socks are all I'm working on now. Thank you for another great podcast!
I too believe things happen for a reason, but it doesn't mean we aren't sometimes disappointed. I'm sorry you didn't win. But brava for stepping out of your comfort zone!
I decided to do my short row heels just using the regular balls of yarn on my Woolens and Nosh advent socks. I did some calculaations and thought I had enough contrast and day 10 colorr to turn the heel. Like Jana I'm knitting both at the same time using seperate needles. It actually took the contrast color, day 10, the contrast color, my day 11 color and all the next contrast color. I'm happy with my heels, love how they look. Up to this point, I couldn't figure out how far "behind" Jana I was in the color sequence. After turning the heel it looks like maybe I've "caught" up with Janna, because I ended up knitting a few days ahead, but prior to my organges, our sequence we don't seem to have overlapped either!
Anne that looks awesome! Loving the pattern and how it is coming out. The clock times that you are both waking up are so funny, it almost matches the clock times my wife is waking up during the night!

Apparently it’s a legit thing for ladies of a certain age. I’m going to start living like medieval people: go to bed at dark, wake up in the middle of the night and write vast philosophical tomes until I’m sleepy again, and then sleep until dawn.
I love the projects with the happy colors. I follow a Facebook group about the Orcas of Shetland. They are a joy to watch. I can’t believe that I, being from Scotland, knew nothing of the orcas; otherwise, I’d have gone up there to visit. Oh well, reason two to plan a trip!
I'm having FOMO about not having one of your Advent projects, sigh. I watch for the Ol' ladies complaining and hair talk, too. Thanks for these daily videos!
Helene is a friend of mine! She is a wonderful creator. I am knitting my stripes while watching this episode at the airport. The Hogmanay project is gorgeous!
I have a question for Jana, do you use the exact same needles for both socks. It looks like you're knitting on Chiagoo needles, so I'm wondering do you have 2 Chiagoo circular needles for each size you use for socks? I knit socks mostly in DK, but am getting more comfortable with fingering weight now. I think I've finally figured out the needles sizes to use for each. :)
Anne, if you don’t get Game of Wool, would you consider doing a podcast reviewing each episode as they come out? One of my favorite things about GB Bake Off is listening to podcast recaps of the episodes.
@ we actually have two since Alaska takes up a lot of space. The main one is in Palmer, usually in July August timeframe. We then have one in Fairbanks, which is in September October timeframe. Even though we are a sparsely populated state we have some amazing fiber artists.
I’m sorry you didn’t get chosen Jana. Are you going to apply for next time? You both amaze me with how much you accomplish, especially with your school work.
Sorry you didn't win the competition, it's their loss, for sure. You'd do an amazing job on an adventure like that, I'm sure. I may have missed the link, really. Can you share the pattern you were talking about that was a blanket that folds up into a pillow? Thank you and Anne for a really fun podcast. I look forward to watching it every year. It's my big treat to watch it with my first cuppa and knitting every morning in December.
Well, poop. I wanted you to get to go. Ann, you are too cute, stop with the Bangs. Yay me! Ladies, as someone who's had an autoimmune issue for years, naps are important for all of us who take them.
I love Isaac’s photos and follow him on TikTok! Amazing work! Love the episode!
I like yarn too! And Jana, cool hat!

Lol you ladies are funny! Jana, I love the hat. Jana, I'm sorry that you didn't when. I'm diggin the socks!! Thank you for your time and videos!😊

I woke up at 4:00 this morning and was glad to be able to watch Day 10 of your podcast. I'll go back to sleep later.

Thanks for another great video! Can't wait to hear about winter camping.

Let's try it! Maybe I'll get more school work done in the middle of the night when my loud husband is sleeping? HA!
You could use Billy Joel’s - in the Middle of the night - as a theme song!
I knit my socks on two needles at a time. I notice my tension is more uniform for both socks that way.
I love the projects with the happy colors.

Go to Shetland with Anne instead
RIGHT?!

I do! I have two ChiaoGoo 2.25 mm (US 1) needles that are exactly the same.

What a great idea!
That would be fun!
Sign up to come teach at Alaska's Fiber Fest! HAHA
YES! (is there an Alaska Fiber Fest? I'm off to google...)

Is it the puzzle pillow blanket?
Yes!

I’m sorry you don’t get to go to Sweden Jana. You’ll have to make your own winter camping expedition. 🏕️ ❄️
