Doctor Mix : amazing job !!! No one has ever been so closed from the original !!! I wish The same treatment on a Depeche Mode song....Bravo !!! Make My dream comes true !!!!
I could listen to this ALL DAY. Donna's vocals are ethereal and compliment the music. The vocals and music meld together well. Nothing can really be improved upon it, although many have tried. Donna even recorded a different version of this song too.
THANK YOU for authentically using a delay on the synth bass instead of programming 16th-notes like so many people incorrectly do. to my ears, your bass just needed more aggressive detuning and maybe a slightly longer decay (also sounds like maybe oscillators should all be square waves with slightly different widths?), and your delay needed to be not quite as "quantized" in its delay time. pretty good, though!
Upper octave is louder and sharp. Your edits of wave shapes and “getting inside your ears” is always welcome and teaches us techniques. I’m used to the Venus Hum/ Blue Man Group rendition. The live performance effect is undeniable.
I did this with an iPad Pro 2017, Nextar LX61 MIDI keyboard, using arturia iMini, audiobus 3, EGDR808 and after downgrading my gear using my Peavey VYPR (bass, guitar, keyboard) amp. I even embellished using some COWBELLS!!! hahahahaha... it sounds cool with the cowbells! I will upload it and add a link to these videos (pt1 and pt2) and credit Doctor Mix. I don't have any rings so I had rubber bands around 9 of my fingers and wearing a kangol.
I bought the 12in vinyl mix to "I feel love" as a kid and played it so much that I still remember how it sounded after I had destroyed the record after changing the needle on the record player 10 times & the record grooves started to wow. Later, I bought the compact cassette and played that to death so much that I remember versions of the song with tape dropouts until the tape mangled itself, despite religiously cleaning the tape heads & pinch roller with iso. Later on I bought the CD but my ex girlfriend too it. Then I discovered TH-cam and had played it some 500 times in a row. Years later, this song and the "Chase" which I've heard over 1000 times I still love it and it feels as fresh as the day I first heard it!
The Pad sound needs a stronger Phaser. In the original we can clearly hear the notches in the sound. I also missed the additional flanged percussion and a bit of phasing in the Hi hats. For the rest is perfect! Congrats. Nice job!
I think that pad sound itself is wrong. To me that sounds clearly like one of the old string machines. Solina maybe ... but you have to be careful using one of them with a phaser not to sound like Jean Michel Jarre.
@@f.herumusu8341 I think you might be right but I saw Giorgio with a Polymoog in some studio vids around 1977... also I actually heard a bit of multitrack of From Here to Eternity on Soundcloud many years ago which was uploaded by Giorgio himself and it sounded like he was using a Oberheim 4 voice (the sound in the clip he uploaded had that Oberheim voice pan)... so imho the sound could be either Solina, Polymoog or Ob4.
@@neilloughran4437 Thanks! Yes, I'm not to sure about the pad, but Claudios pad sounds quite wrong to my ears, even if I love his previous work, esp. the Thriller-Remake.

Claudio, it is a real pleasure to see how much care you take to reconstruct the song. And to observe how much fun you are having in doing so is great! Grazie mille. 😃
Claudio... I just want to say THANK YOU for this video. I have been trying to figure out the precise details of how this bassline is created and you really helped. The "A-ha!" moment for me was realising that the bass pattern actually goes UP after the first two notes, not DOWN. When one listens to the track, it truly sounds like C3-C3-G2-A#2, but when I watched you play it I noticed you went up -- C3-C3-G3-A#3. At first, honestly, I thought you had it wrong... I stuck with my pattern, but as I started to build the sound with more waveforms, it sounded way too muddy in the bass. Only when I got the mix of waveforms AND switched to the rising pattern did it suddenly sound just right. I literally stood up and shouted "YES!!!!!!" Thanks so much. Great videos!
The real MVP of these videos are you explaining the workflow. So many videos could just be "So yeah, here's this sound I made, and here it is mixed. But going through the process of what to listen for, how to tweak, how to organise the DAW, all really valuable stuff. Next: do Jarre's Equinoxe Pt 5 please 🤩

Hehe, nice to see you struggling a bit for the sound on the minimoog - I did too! still sounds good though, I went for more of a plunky sound with mine ( think my mini is about the same year as yours ) For anyone that might be interested, I had osc 1 at 32' square, osc2 at 16' medium pulse, (slightly quieter) filter envelope - cutoff 3, emphasis 4, contour 6.8, attack 0, decay just over 200ms, sustain 3.5. Loudness contour section at attack 0, decay just under 400ms,sustain just over 3. I used osc 3 as lfo to mildly mod the filter at the lowest speed it will go for a little bit of motion in the sound. I'm running my mini with a kenton pro solo for midi into the standard cv inputs , so both the keyboard control switches are disabled, - i.e effectively turned off, when running via midi. I'm interested to know how this sounds on a Boog, if anyone wants to give it a try!
