every firm has their own priorities based upon what they are trying to achieve. it is like saying "what shoe should I wear for the rest of my life" the reality is that requirements change. there are some projects that require languages like Python and there are some languages that require languages like C++ and there are some that need a combination of the both. your best bet is to find a company you want to work for, look at their job board see what languages they want you to know and then start there. because if you are looking into HFT as the other person said you'll probably need something like C++ and RUST or another 'low level' language... or if you are trying to prove a theory you might need something like R or to build a quick example python... most firms require you to understand multiple languages and applying them where they are needed and most effective. hope this helps
Depends if you are going for quant analyst role python but quant dev are c++ based but it would be good if you know both because they expect you to know both
I will request if you may please tell about self learning books or online courses for someone who just knows high school maths. Will be grateful. Because need to first know basics like martingales Or stochastics Or probability theory etc before going for something higher
Are the books and courses enough to get all the skills that you would have when graduating a master in quantitative finance/financial engineering? Are there still quantitative tools missing that you have not included or will all the books and courses be totally sufficient for those who want to make a DIY quant researcher degree?
Hi! Thanks for the question This is not an exhaustive list.. A master’s program will usually have a list of pre-requisites and their own course curriculum ( eg if it’s Mathematical Finance - the course will be focused on math subjects like Stochastic Calculus , if it’s master’s in Computational Finance- it’ll be a bit more programming & Data Science heavy Plus master’s will have practical projects (in terms of assignments + in partnership with corporates) I’ll be uploading videos on courses and pre-requisites as well as projects / project ideas to supplement the books and courses:)
please suggest all the book needed to make the career in investment banking
Bro you need to your own research to make it to investment banking or get a quant role
First graduate from a target school
Which programming lang. does these quantutative firms perfer, nowadays, is it c++ or python?
c++ in hft firms. Mostly firms use python these days.🎉
