Hi, i am France, i would say for cloud based you need to some how master scripting for automation tasks , either powershell code for Azure or Python Automation for aws which is very very mandatory. I have seen people from non-tech jumping into cloud computing without knowing scripting to do some tasks, my big advise would be be learn either powershell or python for automation tasks for azure and aws :)

Just an question into future forecast - by now I'm sure you might have read/watched DHH, Dukaan, ahrefs, oneuptime, etc moving outside of cloud into the colocation or tier 3-4 service providers as AWS is expensive. Do you see the rise of Bare Metal coming up in next 2-3 years (I certainly do) as for company its cheaper to use them (for eg. the price of Hetzner dedicated server) ? What will it do to the current market demand for devops? Will the sysadmin make a come back?
Also bare metal CICD is hell lot ease and doesn't need special devops team. All you need is Prometheus+Grafana, Gitlab CICD and shell scripting.
