I have a 1930's 261 with freight cars and three passenger cars two brown and one green. It belonged to my late brother in law. I love it. I also have an electric 248 early 1930.s and a late 1930.s 1666. Great video
Thanks so much for watching! Those locomotives are fantastic beautiful works of art. I love the 248, I blame that engine for getting me hooked on Pre War
I have my father's 262 (no E) that my grandfather got him in 1931. I had a Lionel Tech (who said it was in great shape) tune her up a few years ago. She still runs great, and I love the ozone smell. Looks good with the cars Dad had with it.
Thank you for watching! Always love hearing the stories on collections and where pieces came from. That smell never gets old , brings me back to when I was running trains with my dad and I could barely see over the platform.
Great to see you back from training, and congrats on your new job! I'm so glad it's going well for you. That's an awesome engine, very nicely detailed for its era. I love the brass, copper, and red accents on it. Those cars work well with it, and I do like the colors. Very fitting for that era and that locomotive. Enjoy!
Happy New Year to you and yours Nick! And congratulations on that 262e! Not looking for one but it "spoke" to you? Yeah, I can understand that! I'm not into pre-war but when I saw my 259e and some assorted cars at one of our club shows it just said "Please take me home with you!" And not just once but every time I walked past it! What can you do? I took it home and I'm lovin' it! "Party like it's 1939!" Great to hear you're enjoying the new job! Remember Winston Churchill's advice to his children as to a life's work: "Do what you like, but LIKE what you do!" Sounds like you're right where you need to be. And don't worry, when your muscles get built-up and used to the job you'll lose the soreness. Thanks for the video! (It gave me something to watch since the Rose Bowl Parade's not on until tomorrow!)
Thanks so much for watching, happy new year as well! Haha yeah that engine definitely spoke to me 😂 thanks so much, I do love the job. It’s a tough job but it’s getting me into shape and is a lot better than sitting behind my desk haha.
Beautiful! The loco should run on O-31 curves without derailing if you add some weigh to the front truck. The colors of your baggage and passenger cars are called terracotta and cream, my favorite. Congrats on the job.
Thanks so much for watching and for the kind words 🚂💨 I think the gauge of the wheels might be off a little as well but it runs great on the larger curves on my layout. I need more of those passenger cars
Congratulations on track man job I was a track man for chessie system in early 80 s I loved the job only lasted 5 years though CSX combined senoirty roster and was not able to work .Awesome engine love the prewar
Thanks so much for watching! Oh wow, I love the job as well. We will be in a bidding war once our 90 days are up. I’m hoping I can stay at my base in Lancaster.
Great video, not sure how I missed this. I picked up a 262 a few months ago and had to add some 0-42 tubular to my layout. It didn't like the Atlas 0-36 or 0-54 at all. There's that sweet Yellowbelly.
Such a beautiful engine here and I really like those passenger cars here as well. Btw where could find this book at might wanna find it someday idk. Btw hope you have a nice year my friend! I do alittle bit of everything in the o gauge train collection here.
I just went to the TCA website and the book's not listed for sale anymore. In addition to Nick's suggestion I'd suggest hitting what train shows you can and keep your eyes open, you might get lucky. For what it's worth I've never seen it myself but it's one I'll be looking for.
Very nice! I love the class / style of the 1930s steam toys. They definitely grabbed my attention with the copper details. Very cool idea with the motor , if you need parts you could always reach out to Hennings Trains
I believe it’s “ Lionel Standard of the World - 1900-1943” second edition. They have a few on eBay. Sorry about the delayed reply. That’s the TCA bible
Check the lubrication on the gears and bearings, if it hasn't been run in a long time the lube's going to need to be refreshed. Aside from that, congratulations! The 2055's a classic!
I I have my grandfather’s Lionel lines #262 locomotive but it’s missing the cowcatcher which appears to have broke off at one point in its life before he handed them down to me. How would I fix mine and attach a replacement cowcatcher?
Thanks for watching! I would give Hennings Trains a call of Landsdale PA. Ask for Harry the 3rd. They would definitely have this part in stock. I believe they press in or screw in. He would have the answer for you

That engine is certainly an eye opener and a super find. You deserve it. Good things come to those who wait !

Sweeeet m! Luv seeing that Prewar stuff running Nick! Happy New Year
Thanks so much for watching! I definitely need more pre war stuff 🚂💨
I run my 262 on O31, smooth runner. One of my favorites.
Sorry, mine is a 258. Really enjoy these old Lionels.
@@OldFrailandDecrepit thanks so much for watching! I think the new wheels slowed her down on the 0-31. 🚂💨
I really always like your Vlog, and I especially enjoyed the video on the 262 E ! Best of luck on your new Job. and be careful !
Thank you very much for the kind words! Hope you’re having a good week 🚂💨 I love my job

Happy New Year Nick! Great review! Beautiful Prewar set you got there. Glad that book helped you out! Old school using books comes in handy. LOL
Thanks again for that awesome book, pretty amazing how it has all the variations. Happy new year and thanks for watching! 🚂💨

Thanks for watching! For Some reason these always gave us a problem with 31/36. Runs best on my 72 loop

Thanks so much for watching! I think these can be found on eBay. Most likely it was a TCA exclusive item / book.
I just went to the TCA website and the book's not listed for sale anymore. In addition to Nick's suggestion I'd suggest hitting what train shows you can and keep your eyes open, you might get lucky. For what it's worth I've never seen it myself but it's one I'll be looking for.
Need to get one of them books myself.
They are definitely worth it 🚂💨
Great video Happy New Year.

Beautiful example, I have a similar Flyer 420 copper brass cast 1931--32 shell that I`m squeezing a Marx 400 motor in.

Nick what a beautiful engine. Also, can you please tell me the the title of that TCA book.
I believe it’s “ Lionel Standard of the World - 1900-1943” second edition. They have a few on eBay. Sorry about the delayed reply. That’s the TCA bible
That Lionel 262 was of a former Ive's.
I have a 1953 Lionel New York central 2055 freight set I got it yesterday
Check the lubrication on the gears and bearings, if it hasn't been run in a long time the lube's going to need to be refreshed.

We have 262E! But it’s broken:( 0:48
I would reach out to Hennings Trains for parts to get it rolling again. They have tons of pre war parts.
My dad had this but someone stole the engine!
I’m sorry to hear that.
