As a born and bred 7th-ish generation Vermonter I have never once in my life refrigerated maple syrup. And we used to go to the sugar house and run the tap into an empty gallon milk jug.

100% pure maple and AA butter on top of fresh pancakes! Add (a few strips of) bacon and hot coffee, and there’s a delicious Sunday breakfast!!!!

I grew up in and still call Vermont home. We do not have fast food and we love to eat anything local and fresh. I am blessed to be from such a beautiful place. I don’t know if this is true, but I think all of the craft brewing in the United States started here. We had the small breweries 30 years ago. I can’t stand farmers market though.😂😂😂

I'm 60 yr old Irishman from rural Kentucky, we don't care for chain food either, home cooking or mom/pop places if we go out to eat, I only use 100% Vermont maple syrup or ours we tap here on pancakes, waffles, I really like poutine & very nice review sir.

Depending on your budget and tastes here are a few places we've eaten that were great. The Reluctant Panther Restaurant, 1801 Tavern & Pine Room Bar, Al Ducci's Italian Pantry in Manchester (Great place to get "Fun Meats", meats you can't get at the local grocery stores). While in Manchester, you have to do some Blown Glass at Manchester Blown Glass, you have too. You should also try to get to Up For Breakfast on Main Street in Manchester.
As for cheeses, damn near everywhere you go, you can get great cheese. One of our favorites is: Sugarbush Farms in Woodstock. Awesome 2, 4, 6 year old cheddars here.
If you get to the northern end of VT., give Derby Line Village Inn, German Restaurant a try, you'll be glad you did

I always head up to VT for at least 1 trip each in the summer and fall yearly. If the winters weren't so crazy it would definitely be a top spot for me to potentially move to. You definitely summed up the whole farm to table "movement" there, it's one of the reasons I love it there. Half of my purchases to bring home are always breads, cheeses, and even veg from the awesome farms ❤️

I haven’t been to Vermont since my college days but the Green Mountain State always reminds me of my home, Colorado. Beautiful scenery. Everyone drives Subarus. No one votes for Republicans. Sure, Vermont has that liquid gold: real, honest-to-god maple syrup but we have Colorado-style green chili. They have Ben and Jerry’s. We have western slope peaches. So, basically two great places to live. And eat.

Log Cabin is still around? My family used it a lot in the 70's-90's. I generally but generic syrup. But I buy maple syrup sometimes in Chicago.

It's not sugar snow. Its sugar "on" snow. You can find it at town hall suppers

Outside of cooking your own meals--
Can a person with celiac find gluten free options at Vermont restaurants ❓🫥
