Ray Davies speaks at Pete Quaife Blue Plaque Gala

Unveiling of the blue plaque in honour of Pete Quaife was held at the entrance of the North Wing of Fortismere school attended by Ray Davies and Mick Avory. Pete's brother, Dave, also presided. A host of celebs entertained later at The Marriott hotel, Regents Park event by the British Heritage Foundation. Ray Davies made some remarks.

Seeing Ray's tears, singing "Days" for Pete was really something. And, when he played Toronto in 2008, he praised brother Dave several times during the show.

Ray - what a great speaker he is. And even after all the fighting (with Dave), when we saw Ray (solo) in 2008, he couldn't have praised Dave any higher. Same goes for Pete. Ray's Glastonbury performance in 2010 is testament to that.

Although The Kinks still did some brilliant work after Quaife left, always felt they lost a vital spark with him leaving.Especialy with the sloppy bearded bozos that replaced him.
