I can’t get them to make a pop sound. Is that okay? I can’t get them break loose by pooling hard on them either. I did notice I can push the collar down and the hose releases. Is it okay there’s no pop sound on either end?

Have the same kit but ran it along driver side (didn’t have to worry about exhaust) and I had enough tubing to do both differential and elocker. Just reporting what worked..
I'm surprised that Toyota did not install breather vent hoses in the 4Runner. MY 98 Jeep GC came with breather tube extensions installed at the factory. I'll need to do this on my 2016 4Runner but don't like the ARB kit. Those quick tube fittings are nice but the the tubing ARB supplies is too stiff for being mounted on constantly moving suspension. I'll probably use vacuum tubing and route it to the fuel cap compartment. A vertical "goose neck" at the end of the tube will keep moisture away, even if it's submerged under water for a short duration. Also, a small motorcycle fuel filter in the breather line will keep the dust from entering the differential .
Not knocking the installation video. It's good work. And glad you're ok. Just my 2 cents as a HD mechanic as I had to check myself as I almost bought this kit before I realized..wtf am I doing. So you can either spend 80 to 100 on an ARB diff kit. (Canada is a 100ish) and is an extremely unnecessary purchase. Or.. you can take your breather out and go to a hydraulic hose shop. They'll have all the BSP taperered metric fittings and 3/8 aeroequip hose you'll need. Get a 6 foot hose made and reuse your original breather in the end. I also used a 45° on the diff for better hose projectory. Either stuff the hose through the back side of a drilled hole in your fuel door compartment (seems like more hassle going there). Or stuff it up to the bottom of your DS rear tail light. Which is pretty much at the same level as the fuel door. Tie up with zip ties and make sure you have enough slack for your droop and becareful where and what your zip tying to. Wham, bam, done. Although I do like the ARB breather manifolds, to run it all the way to the engine is unnecessary and frankly you're paying for the name. All for under 50 bucks. The 5th gens front diff, transmission and transfer case breathers run up between the engine and firewall. Well enough protection if you ask me.
That is a great alternative idea, on my big truck I just used vacuum line to extend them as high as possible. If the main goal is to get the opening as high on the vehicle as you can then it doesn't matter what you run. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Have heard that it can be replaced with some rubber fuel line and hose clamps. I would rather just use the kit as is. Do you think the ARB tubing is durable enough for the cold winters?
To be honest, no clue... Where I live it doesn't get that cold and I don't have much experience with the cold. A fuel line and hose clamps works just as well 😁

Center is probably high enough that you don't have to worry about it, unless your going into water that is deeper then your doors... As for front, yes, but I'm not sure where it is.

Yes and no. The 4Runner is a 2014. It's not "made" for the 18 but it can work. A few guys have said Toyota response is that they are working on one for the 18-19. But we have confirmed that you can install a TRD CAI on 2018. There is a specific post on it, on trail4r.com. trail4runner.com/2018/02/22/2017-4runner-trd-intake-install/
On the 2016+ Tacoma the front diff and transfer case have a breather much higher up and they terminate just below the battery. If you remove the battery you can easily see them. I highly suspect the 4Runner is similar so you shouldn't need to raise those higher as you'd only gain 8 or so inches. Another option is to take it up into the rear tail light which is the route I went. Great video.

Those tubes can be removed from the push lock fittings by pressing down on the plastic ring on the top of the fitting and pulling up on the tube

I like to wrap some thicker heater hose around that last zip tie in front of the shark bite to prevent chafing on the hose 😎

It has an air filter and it's continuously open. The line you run from the pumpkin goes all to the filter.
