Next Sunday on December 22, 2024, mu mother and I are going to see Andrea Bocelli in concert. My parents got me that as an early Christmas present my dream came true.
Every time that I play Nessun Dorma on my iPad my little Westie dog sings to me and wants cuddles …. then my eyes always fill up. I am 70 years old and this bonding with my Princess is one of the greatest pleasures in my life, and my wife of 50 years understands.

I like in a culture that is so far different from the culture that produced this masterpiece. But I find this piece of music insanely beautiful, magical, and simply out of this world.
Two weeks ago my wife of 38 years died of brain cancer. She wanted this aria to be played at her death. As she was being led out of the hospice the care givers all stood in the hall and bowed their heads as this was played. The recording ended as we were leaving. It ends with an ovation for Bocelli. My daughter commented that the ovation could have been for my dear wife, Tricia, for a life well lived.
@@10.YEARS.TO.CHANGE.MY.NAME. I wish it wasn't true and she was still with me. Tricia Schneider died at 1:45pm on June 16th at the Agrace Hospice Center in Fitchburg, WI. Absolutely! Pure powerful vocal projection only, without the “agonized” exaggerated pained facial expressions - like “it hurts to do this.” He makes it look perfectly easy, as he does in every performance he does.
Yeah, that describes a narcissist…..😕 the talent/ gifting is there but the “handicap” (being a narcissist) takes away from the gift. But Bocelli can pull it off without the distraction. He is amazing!!❤️
These comments are ridiculous. The chest puffing has to do with breath control. Opera singers of the highest calibre open their lungs and use the diaphragm as much as possible. You will see this with Jussi Björling who had the finest breath control that I have witnessed. The gestures they use are their own expression of the song. This is not showing off, it is the techniques of mastery. If you knew ANYTHING about opera you would understand that there are no narcissists. These artists practice every single day to improve themselves and they are their own worst critics. Bocelli is not technically the best, there are many singers who are superior in enunciation, in power and in breath control, but his tone is gorgeous, especially in the lower register, and his singing warms the heart. He radiates goodness. I earned my Fine Arts degree with a Major in Opera at Oklahoma City University and let me assure you, those pained expressions from opera singers are the emotional interpretations of the lyrics, not pretend suffering. BTW, opera singing is INCREDIBLY difficult and physically taxing. Singers have burst blood vessels in their throats, and strained their vocal chords to the point of ruination.
He most certainly DOES NOT just stand there and let it "flow out"! This is years and years of training "flowing out". His chest is not as lifted (puffy)because he is not fully engaging his diaphragm, this is a technical weakness he possesses.

Italian music was prevalent in the Chicago Heights area of the early 50s. Always enjoyed listening to it, but Andrea Bocelli's rendition of Nessun Dorma with this orchestra is the best I can ever remember. The strength and rich depth of his voice well matched with this orchestral arrangement is soul stirring. This very rendition of the music completes the mental picture I have of the return of Jesus Christ with His angels in power and glory.

Can you help me. Bocelli always sings an extra verse after Vincerò. I cannot find what the words are in this extra piece. I don't believe I've heard any other Tenor's sing this either. Do you know?
Amazing arrangement by the conductor. It gives me goosebump at 2:50. If only the audience can hold their applause a bit later, that'll give bigger impact.
I was fortunate enough to see Bocelli live a year ago and when he sang Nessun Dorma I had tears flowing down my face. You cannot imagine how incredible his voice is until you hear it in person. These recordings do not do him justice.
Regardless of the Pavarotti comparisons(keep in mind each voice is different, not better, at the top of the game), this made me tear up near the end, when the audience spontaneously applauds, with some singing still left to come. They just could not help themselves. When a man(tenor) has a voice like this, live, in a crowd, it is overwhelming and goes through your spirit and soul, as an audience member. It is a spiritual thing, literally. Lucky for these audience members. We can only gather a glimpse of this experience here, watching this in a little square on our screens here, regardless of the speakers. There is zero comparison between hearing this live and making judgements from a little youtube box remotely in space and time at that. The audience members erupting even before it was finished speaks for itself. They say it all. Nothing more needs to be said.
scott kuzminski Yes, I saw him live September of last year, and the feelings I felt the moment he first walked on stage to the moment he took his final bow, were of pure electricity and emotions all through me. He made a few errors throughout his performance, but they were more than easy to overlook.
+scott kuzminski It's true they have different voices, but Pavarotti also clearly has better technique. But Bocelli has a very pretty, lyrical tenor voice. I think he probably has a better recording voice than Pavarotti, but he would be no match in an actual opera without a microphone. The reviews for his opera role were not entirely positive. There were critics who said that he was weak from the beginning in Turandot starting with "mio padre!"
+AstriaICOW I agree, Astrial...Bocelli has recorded some nice studio work, as well as lighter stuff like Tony Bennett's Duets, but I think Pavarotti might be the Caruso of our era, so very touch to top that. Keep in mind Pavarotti was a marvelous actor in Operas. I love the emotive expressions in his Opera arias as well as his singing
scott kuzminski sure. But to be fair, it's hard to act when you are blind :P I actually think that Placido Domingo is the most emotional and passionate actor for an opera singer, both on stage and off stage. The fact that he's also really good looking also helps a lot :P
Saw Andrea sing this song live....the chills and tears by the end of this song were apparent all around the huge audience. It was the closing song to the concert, fittingly.
I can't get enough of Andrea Bocelli singing Nessun Dorma!!! Such a beautiful song and the English translation of the words is incredible. One of the best renditions of Nessun Dorma!!!!❤❤❤

Well, hmm.... I can not, (literally) can not count the number of times I have sung this exact number in my head today. Let alone coming back to TH-cam time and again for the same beautiful melody. Oh my gosh.... I love this rendition.
I imagine this song playing. When Jesus Christ comes back for His people. The clouds will part in the sky and every knee will bow and realize he is the Way, the Truth and the Light. No one comes to the father except through me. 🤍 What a site that will be. I pray I will be ready.
This is a very lusty love song from the Puccini opera Turandot, so that would be really hilarious if it was the track Jesus decided on to come back or whatever.

My mother and I saw Andrea perform back in 2002..my SISTER and Dad had passed away 6months apart in 2000..grew up with an Italian-american Dad who played Mario Lanza every Sunday..my Mom cried through the whole performance..but of joy and memories..so wonderful..so glad I saw him..especially with Mom😘💖

I was their at that game, the L1 section were singing at the start of Nessun Dorma, they stopped halfway through, most fans were silent and respectful. Basically if you wasn't their you wouldn't know how the atmosphere was.
I've started learning Italian a week ago and came here to listen to this masterpiece to motivate me even more. I hadn't listened to this for quite some time. Damn, I have no words. I got goosebumps all the way down to my legs. I felt this extremely heartwarming and intense emotion I can't really explain. What a beautiful emotion it was. Few singers and songs can make me feel this strong of an emotion. This is an absolute masterpiece. And Andrea Bocelli is an absolute unforgettable legend. Thank you 🇮🇹 for this.
Hate to ruin your gorgeous thought but this is another one God is going to welcome us back as in the Bible and the example of the Lord's prayer when the people were listening to him and his most important talk when he said thy kingdom come thy will be done on Earth as it is in heaven why do you think on Earth is in there because the original purpose for God's kingdom is there a store a paradise Earth again only a select few the 144,000 will be going to heaven when you get a paradise Earth after the Great tribulation and Armageddon don't get sad which is more than being a good person and you will be there too Earth is a place where you'll be able to hug and kiss the loved ones you've lost heaven is for spiritual beings will you do not have human emotion in the sense that you cannot hold hug and really love maybe that infant that you lost or that young child whoever you lost don't you want to hold them again you can't do that in heaven
This aria never fails to move me to tears!!! IMO Turandot is the greatest opera ever written and I say this knowing full well that there have been many great operas in history! As proof of this, this aria has probably been performed more times in movies and TV shows than any other. It is the GOAT of tenor arias!
Helle!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day… Stay Safe
Bocelli's voice is so beautiful...but I don't know of anyone alive today that can carry such power into the high part as Pavarotti did with every performance. Bocelli here was near to drowned out by the instruments at every climax.
Patrick Carroll no. It is because his high notes are in weak mixed voice. If only you would listen closely how the transistion of that A4 and B4 went. The A4 was still in chest then he bends to a mixed B4 which weakens the tone, making the orchestra overpowered him. There's nothing wrong with the sound engineer because Bocelli can be heard loud and clear during the soft orchestral parts. This is the reason why people kept saying that Bocelli is better when amplified because his voice is weak to be considered an opera. I love him for being a classic pop singer, his voice is the best voice I've ever heard but in things like this is where his weakness shows up but as his fan, I still love him.
Patrick Carroll wrong. Pavarotti (and many other lyric tenors) sang this with NO mic, as opera is meant to be sang. Even if the sound designer had forgot to plug the mic in, Bocelli would still be singing on a level playing field to other opera singers.
That crescendo at 1:22 - I've never heard a tenor add that much dynamic range to this song. And good Lord, don't even get me started on the third "vincero." I hope he's at the entrance of heavens gates singing this. I told myself to maintain my manhood and not tear up, but that's gone. I caved lol 😢😮
I can never moved be emotionally moved the way that music does. Music like this just brings tears to my eyes and more fuel for the passion I have for music. I can never regret being a Music Major.
For crying out loud!!!! Leading up to the crescendo, the orchestra takes over and all but drowns out what should have been the powerful climax. His voice is magnificent, but was unable to compete with the sheer volume behind him.
+Douglas Edwards No it's his voice not being powerful enough. The orchestra has nothing amplifiying it and Bocelli has a mic and sound system helping him. A real opera singer like Pavarotti should be able to sing over the orchestra without the mic.
The voice of an angel, never fails to make me cry, my grandad was this talented like so many others he died unnoticed and it is because of him I love to hear this beautiful voice
I can hardly tell who is better between Pavaroti and Bocelli. Each has a unique talent in singing this aria. Let's not fight over who is better. Both are great!! I do hope Korea will produce such great tenors...
I personally prefer Pavarotti. I feel his is more powerful. But I love this because of the quality of the audio. Filmed more recently so I can hear the quality much better than with Pavarotti clips. Both awesome though!
I think they are equal because Pavaroti is very strong soul, but Boceli is very passionate and full of power!! I would be stuck if some one asked me to chose!!! Just to say they are both really powerfull and very god opera singers!!I love them sooo much! :)
Monica Mills Pavarotti is on a whole other level. The power and resonance of his voice is miles above Bocelli's. Bocelli sounds like an amateur in comparison. And Bocelli is a shitty opera singer (he isn't one at all) and has zero power or emotion. I facepalm everytime I read someone prefering bocelli over pavarotti.
@ Ania D Actually the opposite. Only someone unfamiliar with opera singing would consider Bocelli a good operatic tenor which he isn't. Bocelli is a crossover artist and primary sings "popera". Think of him as the male version of Sarah Brightman. He's tried to sing opera and failed. Basically, Bocelli's voice doesn't work without a microphone because HE'S NOT OPERATICALLY TRAINED. And Bocelli's performances of opera arias are strongly criticized by the opera community. Bocelli sounds good when he sings his own music like "Con Te Partiro" or "Canto Della Terra" but doesn't sound much better than Paul Potts (that's not a good thing) when he sings "Nessun Dorma" and the like.
I understand you completely! I lost my wife two years ago this day and I can't get over it. This song and singer are great. I hope you will find some peace and can go on. Klaus

He made a few errors throughout his performance, but they were more than easy to overlook.
scott kuzminski
I love the emotive expressions in his Opera arias as well as his singing
scott kuzminski
sure.
I’ve seen Andrea Bocelli sing this at two different concerts!! It brings tears to my husband’s eyes, and I cry! Marvelous‼️❤️
Oh my goodness. It doesn't even look like he's trying! He makes it look so easy.
That's because he's using a microphone
I can't get enough of Andrea Bocelli singing Nessun Dorma!!! Such a beautiful song and the English translation of the words is incredible. One of the best renditions of Nessun Dorma!!!!❤❤❤
Helle!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day… Stay Safe
@@jkellis Thanks for pointing that out and being nice about it. Much love!
Of course! I had to look up the lyrics myself when I first heard it.
For me an irishman I think this is the most beautiful song I have ever heard this song represents all aspects of life music love empathy respect loyalty love always from your Irish Brothers and sisters 💗
Its just beautiful to see how comfortably he hits all those notes. Like it isnt anything.
It is not comfortable, ever. It's called vocal training. It is incredibly hard and takes decades of practice to make it look this easy.
@@eileenhetherington3704 God, now I'm remembering getting ready for juries at my old music school and it's making my throat hurt lol
@@eileenhetherington3704I’d say it is comfortable comparatively to if u were to sing it in pop
This man is a gift
I love this so much!! My Nonna loved Pavarotti and so do I but Bocelli’s version is so wonderful!
GOD Put Andrea Bocelli on this earth for this; Thank You!
His performance at the Kingpower sent shivers down my spine
+Michael Swainy That was unreal mate. Stunning scenes at King power.
+Michael Swainy Think I had a few tears in my eyes when I seen him live at the King Power :') Andrea will always remind me of the day we lifted the title.
I always get chills when I hear this too. I saw him live one year and what a show!!!
Paul potts > all ... the instuments are to fucking loud
I believe it will feel like that when God welcomes us back home to Heaven.
That's so beautiful...I agree! And when Andrea gets up there, he can see all of the miraculous colors of heaven. He is an angel 😇 💖
Is he dead already?@@audreycortez2341
Yay for the Italians !!!!!!!!!! Andrea Bocelli you make us italians ridiculously proud!!!!!! (from an italian -american in NYC)

The most amazing, powerful, beautiful, vibrational and emotional VINCERO of all tenors and times
This aria never fails to move me to tears!!! IMO Turandot is the greatest opera ever written and I say this knowing full well that there have been many great operas in history! As proof of this, this aria has probably been performed more times in movies and TV shows than any other. It is the GOAT of tenor arias!
Got to see him in Dublin Ireland a few years ago. One of the most breathtaking things I've ever witnessed.
Oceann McCormack i can’t imagine the amount of goosebumps that i would get watching it live.
My goosebumps have goosebumps. Everything in this performance was spectacular, Bocelli, the orchestra, everything.
😮

I love that this version includes the joyful reprise of the melody from the very end of the opera :)

OMG When I hear him sing I get chills and I cry - No other Opera singer does this to me - I LOVE LOVE HIS VOICE
Bocelli's voice is so beautiful...but I don't know of anyone alive today that can carry such power into the high part as Pavarotti did with every performance. Bocelli here was near to drowned out by the instruments at every climax.
That's because of the sound engineer.
You people must be tone deaf, this guy is rubbish, how dare you compare him to Pavarotti, more like Joe Dolce.ah shuddupa your face
PAVAROTTI WAS THE KING!
Patrick Carroll wrong. Pavarotti (and many other lyric tenors) sang this with NO mic, as opera is meant to be sang. Even if the sound designer had forgot to plug the mic in, Bocelli would still be singing on a level playing field to other opera singers.
Same❤
This should be the celebratory song when the world beats the Covid-19 pandemic.

This is our fight song against the Coronavirus!
Then you haven't listened to actual Operatic Tenors.
My dear friend you are not alone trust me, I'm Mr Pride.
Never heard of Pavarotti?
I rarely/hardly ever hear these dynamic contrasts with this much musical expression is all that I meant.
@ I don't cry when the great Pavarotti sings. I cry when Bocelli sings.. That is the difference.
The voice control is spectacular oh my he sang the hell out of that song!!!! 🌟🕊💯
They say that if God had a voice, it would that of Andrea Bocelli's. Simply stunning.
"If God had a voice?"

No disrespect to Andrea and the mega legend that he is. Nobody can ever match the rendition Pavarotti has for this particular piece.
Breaks my heart that he’s gone

My God …. This guy could sing the phone book ad it would be awesome; simply heavenly!!
Thank God, I discovered this video and Andrea Bocelli, singing Nessun Dorma! Now I have a wonderful addition to Beethoven for a lifetime of Joy!
@@ursmue1937, no. Opera in "addition" to symphony. Beethoven is above everything!
For crying out loud!!!! Leading up to the crescendo, the orchestra takes over and all but drowns out what should have been the powerful climax. His voice is magnificent, but was unable to compete with the sheer volume behind him.
+Lilylibra Thank you! I was having a hard time deciding if Bocelli's voice wasn't powerful enough or if the orchestra was simply too loud.
+Douglas Edwards No it's his voice not being powerful enough. The orchestra has nothing amplifiying it and Bocelli has a mic and sound system helping him. A real opera singer like Pavarotti should be able to sing over the orchestra without the mic.
Ihdc1 sounds pretty biased to me
Nah! He nailed it
The voice of an angel, never fails to make me cry, my grandad was this talented like so many others he died unnoticed and it is because of him I love to hear this beautiful voice
This song has more significance in the current times than ever before. The Sum of All Fears!!
I like to give this a spin every couple of months to make sure the old tear ducts are still working. For me, this is beauty in it’s purest form.
This song is soul stunning everytime, it should be prescribed as a medicine
I can hardly tell who is better between Pavaroti and Bocelli. Each has a unique talent in singing this aria. Let's not fight over who is better. Both are great!! I do hope Korea will produce such great tenors...
I personally prefer Pavarotti. I feel his is more powerful. But I love this because of the quality of the audio. Filmed more recently so I can hear the quality much better than with Pavarotti clips.
Both awesome though!
Pavarotti is on a whole other level. The power and resonance of his voice is miles above Bocelli's. Bocelli sounds like an amateur in comparison.
Un des meilleurs ténors parmi les grands ! Plus la magie de Puccini ....
I always think of my dad when i listen to this Opera. I miss my dad so much thanks Andrea

I understand you completely! I lost my wife two years ago this day and I can't get over it. This song and singer are great. I hope you will find some peace and can go on. Klaus
