Most of the organic chemistry episodes have gone over my head, so I skip them, but putting it into D&D terms made it palatable. (I'm probably an outlier, but I wanted to say how much I appreciate the extra effort)
Follow up, I found "we might expect A, but B actually occurs" derailed me a few times when I knew the answer, but then doubted it when you brought up a wrong answer as a contrast. Since this is information I'm trying to memorize, talking about the right answer first (or only mentioning the right one) may be more helpful. Thank you! #NeverNotLearning
IDK WHAT ID DO WITHOUT U CRASH COURSE. My teacher is a good teacher but the ampunt of time they out into their own doodle video examples is insane... i usually watch all of them and these but it was 5 hrs long this week and tbh, your videos sum it up way better PLUS PICTURES. I NEEEEED PICTURES AND RELATABLE EXAMPLES TYY
How does one know which direction a reaction goes? Like, in the example 3 at 12:52, the result is counterintuitive to me: we start with stable methanol, and the reaction goes in the direction of formation of a strong acid (which is quite unstable). Why doesn't the reaction go the opposite way? How do we decide which direction it is supposed to go?
The kind of game you're describing sounds more like an RPG (role-playing game). You go for an adventure in RPGs, too, but an "adventure game" usually means either: - a (point-and-click) puzzle-solving adventure game (e.g. Grim Fandango or The Secret of Monkey Island) - an action-adventure game (e.g. Tomb Raider or The Legend of Zelda series).
I love this series, organic chemistry can be so much fun when you don't have to learn all of it in one semester with a deep emphasis on grades
Well, can't wait for a new DnD sourcebook called "Chakravarti's Guide to Chemistry"

Cameo appearance by Craig Benzine as the Primary Benzylic. Nicely done.
Hehe thank you glad you appreciated that 😉
Why would problem 4 react through SN2 if the nucleophile is weak? I though weak nucleophiles were for SN1 only.
I’m in Orgo 2 right now learning ethers and epoxides this is helpful
What a great way to teach this subject!
This was bloody needed!
It's all fun and games until chemichals get an upgrade
I clicked for the D&D, stayed for Deboki's TF into a dragonborn.
We need more dragonborns in this day and age
Fun Fact: That "Benzene" is modeled on Craig Benzine, AKA Weezey Waiter. He was the host of Crash Course U.S. Government & Politics.
Well done good eye! 😉
Learning this in orgo perfect timing
I just want to say a massive thank you on behalf of 147 THOUSAND people who are learning with your help!
Crash course is the best. #thankyoucrashcourse
D&D for life
even though she put it nicely into D&D terms, I am just plain stupid because I STILL cannot understand it.
Never thought chemistry will be a game
First! and thank you so much for helping me get through O chem!
Nice timing with this video. Thanks!

Mfw you think it's one E1 but you get multiple products with E1, SN1 and who even knows what

We fact-checked this episode so carefully, too ;-)
