Razer Basilisk V2, Ultimate and X HyperSpeed Comparison Review

- Razer are showing no shame in going after the Logitech G502 market. Other than the DPI buttons on the left button and the Infinite Scroll Wheel, the Basilisk Ultimate has the better features and software functionality. The V2 is basically the wired version of the Ultimate but without the RGB. And the X HyperSpeed is a budget wireless version that has Bluetooth connectivity as well.
They're great mice but they're not the kind that I recommend. Comfortable, decent shape, but could definitely be better and also lighter. The Razer Vipers and DeathAdder V2 are better for aim, in my opinion.

im glad razer stealing it! logitech deserved it! they dont listen to customer feedback regarding the weight, they should reduce the g502 weight, which somehow razer managed to do it!

I feel the same. The scroll wheel is the highlight, as well as great thumb buttons. The form is okay and it needs to be 20g lighter.

Aluthos no idea, either this or Quake Live, but arena shooters as a whole are kinda dead, with epic killing Unreal Tournament and so on, and the genre failing to attract new players and evolving

I play Quake Champions personally as Quake Live isn't too populated in the US and I could never find a game but it is a hard game to get into.
Every multiplayer game goes through a cycle of moderate to immense popularity, followed by a decline where all the casual players move on to the next thing, maybe an update brings some back, some publicity from a well known figure like Shroud, Ninja, etc. eventually followed by a long drought, a period of no new players just dedicated fans that love the game too much to just move on. Fortnite, Apex, and even CS:GO to a point, have all gone through this.
Quake Champions, (and Quake as a whole), is unfortunately in that last state right now.
Champions, (at least in the eastern US), doesn't even have enough players to fill a full lobby except on weekends so you will see a lot of bot players unless you play duel or ranked.
The main issue you run into with a game that sits in this state is it has become almost inaccessible to new players, especially the casual ones.
Joining a lobby just to get dunked on is an experience that turns away many players myself included. It would take too long for me to get better, (I'm sitting at ~50 hrs), that I don't really see the point in trying unless I get some miracle where I can play games for a living and get it on a rotation or something.
I enjoy playing it from time to time and it's a good game, but it's not 1000 hrs good.

Hi, I would appreciate it if you could test doubleclicking and dragclicking as well, because for example in minecraft, cps are very important and I've never seen a professional reviewer to test drag/doubleclicking. I really enjoy your reviews and before I buy a mouse I always check your review on that mouse lmao, but as I said it's really important for me to know if you can drag/double-click, but there are no reviews testing that.

@@nltiro3387 with jitter you get ~12 cps and aim is bad, butterfly is only good if you can properly double-click and dragclick is the best for bridging so yee... Idk

What I've quickly noticed it when trying a friend's brand new G502 is that the opposite side of the mouse (that's underneath the palm) lifts up by a few millimeters when I hold down the right button (to ADS) in fingertip grip, because I have long fingers and I position them towards the buttons' end. Noticing that the Basilisk also has its front end (cable side) slanted, making the base shorter than the shape of the mouse on top of it. Zy, I hope you read this and I thought such big companies with their great R&D would test that the side you're supposed to press down on doesn't lift up the opposite end.
It sounds like they just arent the right mouse for your grip, which is not by any means reason to downplay razer or logitech for that matter. Just get a different mouse, you can see pictures of them and can determine whether they'll be right for you before you buy.
are any of the wireless ones useable without pluggin the receiver in? pure bluetooth?
Have a Basilisk V2 on the way to replace my G502. While I do love the Infinite scroll wheel and it's a treat for productivity... I can't be productive at all right now with both LMB and RMB suffering from the Double Clicks of Death. It's borderline unusable after less than 6 months with a good amount of care (I don't abuse my electronics like most people).
I think I'll enjoy the adjustable scroll wheel on the V2, and the clutch paddle seems a bit more premium than the G502s clutch button. Excited to try a new Razer mouse as I haven't owned one in years.
I would have stuck with Logitech, but my G703 had a mouse wheel failure, and now both of my G502 mouse buttons are difficult to use for all of my productivity stuff. It seems like Razer has stepped their game up with those Optical Switches, and I don't see complaints about the mouse wheel so hopefully it solves all my problems.
just bought the basilisk, then this came out, welp after fiddling with it for few hours of gameplay, not rugrats, the mouse feels solid and surprisingly comfortable, and damn, i am having a blast using the sniper clutch. just wished it came with a box, or a small tin box where you can keep all of the clutches so you dont have to awkwardly put them. if a budget mouse could provide a simple fabric sling bag, razer selling mouse at sub 70-100++ can.
The rubber on the sides on the Basilisk V2 is better than the previous, which has lots of grooves that collected dirt/dead skin, and was quite annoying. It also loosened over time, I had to swap mine to a new one. Would go for the V2 if I still used the Basilisk.
And I still miss the infinite scroll from the G502 :P
It felt a bit weird with the mouse in the middle at the end, felt more natural with it on the side like before.
Hi, have you compare charging time on the dock vs using the usb cable provided? Are they both the same charging speed? Because mine charges slower on the dock compared when i use the usb cable, is that normal? I timed my charging time from 0% to 60% it took about 3 hours +? Please to relieve me of my worries :(
I know the logical comparison is the g502 but I can't seem to find a mouse that feels better than the g402. With the same weight as the ultimate what do you think a comparison would be like for shape?
Just got X HyperSpeed it's wonderfull mice for the price. Upgraded from my my old deathadder 3.5G, perfect mouse for rainbow siege.
How's the performance on R6S?

@@gtech2212 To me it has very good shape and performs very well. This is what matter to me the most. My former razer served me about 7 years and just broken down. To me it performs more the same just hyperspeed is wireless and doesnt have any lag. Don't stress much about mice specs because mostly is just numbers for marketing. My former razer served just as good. Aim comes from skill and practice and i play competive fps for more than 20 years :)
@@Classified0 All new wireless gaming mouses doesn't have any lag. Off course on very rare occasion it can glitch, but it's the same with all wirelesses connections. To me X hyperspeed is perfect. I don't care about RGB, battery lasts more than a month with daily 8-12h usage.

Superb highlights but I have the feel that mice will get tiresome (and bothersome) in the long run.
It's pretty obvious when you're last man standing versus 2-3-4 and have to quickly check your back with 180 turns and so on.

Is the texture on the side grips on the ultimate and hyperspeed the same? I don't really like the hyperspeeds texture it feels slippery but everything else I like about the mouse.
the right of the mouse doesn't have a glide, does it not affect your performance?

I choose the viper ultimate over the g pro due to the slightly bigger viper. Very gutted as the viper is amazing but still too small for my grip/hand 😔 feels too narrow for my hand width and not tall enough(came from a g900 which is still a great mouse but every now and then double click issues started on RB) so thought I'd upgrade.
Going to give the basilisk ultimate a try and return my viper unfortunately, really wanted to get on with it.
If all else fails and I dont like the basilisk I'll go and get a g903. (Dont think there is any point me going to a g502 as it looks as though the basilisk beats it slightly in tech and the extended thumb button which I think I would use. Also its lighter than both my original g900 and the g502)
Anyone had similar issues to myself and can point me in maybe a different path?

@@reisenfer1 hi yeah I now have the g pro x superlight and love it after a week of using it. I dont get any little finger cramp and because of the shape I can finger tip grip it and move it around inside my palm for precise aiming. I fitted some new skates to it and it's brilliant. Just wish the viper optical switches was on the g pro x and the g pro x had a nice charging dock but isn't a deal breaker as it only needs charging like once a week or somthing battery is amazing. But honestly give the g pro x a try. I actually bought a g903 after this and because I got used to the weight of the viper and the size I couldn't get used to it. Esp as my main gaming style is fps.

My only real complaint about the G502 is it's just too narrow for my hand I like a slightly wider mouse. Everything else about it I love and the infinite scroll wheel is a big plus for me.

First basilisk is so bad especially for fps simply because the thumb shelf curve is so slippery. You can't hold the mouse for shit. It looks like the changed the material but I won't ever buy it again.

I get so much fatigue with my g502 man, it is such a heavy whore. Plus I use a pretty low sense so it makes it even more tiresome. with all my years of using a laser/optical heavy mouse. I think I'm finally out on the heavy bitches from now on. After about 3 or 4 matches I can feel it but continue to play because I am having fun in the game I play. But it truly does suck, my computer is also a dinosaur too! been running 24 voodoo graphics cards in sli for about 20 plus years

How does infinite scroll wheel benefit fps? I mean all these reviews say the logitech infinite scroll wheel is amazing, especially for scrolling through video editing tracks or with scrolling TH-cam feeds or webpages; failing to identify that functionality in fps gaming.
Here's things I consider:
For sheer buttons and keystroke programming the Razer has the edge. For the scroll wheel it (in my use or research I've done) doesn't fail in comparison to logitech's ghub software registering double clicks across multiple platforms. I own the G602 and G604 and it happens in both. That said, I would also say synapse 3 (even with limitations and constant updates) is still more consistent than ghub. At least Synapse doesn't auto reset my profiles when switching between applications or games. It also hasn't completely wiped out my macros.
Now for some who had to adopt synapse 3 in the beginning this may have ruined the experience. But imho it's greatly improved. Still a learning curve for the timid but nothing a TH-cam video cant assist with.
So imo, going back to fps... what is it's "real" or "perceived" fault?
Have to say in ending that the weight isn't all the reviews make it out to be. Sure its heavier than the Razer Viper Ultimate but then it's also not ambidextrous. To each their own but as a right those side button on the far side are definitely a challenge to get used to. It's also (as of today) the same cost as the Basilisk Ultimate with less programmable buttons and, again imo only, less control -- [subjective]

can you specify th use of infinite scrollwheel in your productivity. I'm curious
depending on the application used... say one were doing graphic design..and they lowered the scrolls per click or movement on the wheel low. To move/rotate what they were working on or change paramaters incramentally by degree or less than whole number increments with the wheel-unlocked. Even in photo video or music editing, You set profiles, with a profile switch key too. And so on....though mx master2/3 are even more ideal for this plus logitech now has factory supported keymaps for certain editing applications

After 1 year I can say that X HyperSpeed is piece of garbage. Double-click issues, random disconnects, long delay when waking up from power saving mode, issues with rechargeable batteries (probably due to lower voltage). 3 RMAs -> returned money.

Hey, can you let me know if the Razer mice's scroll wheels ever double scroll or fake scroll? I've owned 2 G502s and they are both driving me crazy as I use the scroll wheel to switch weapon slots in games. I need consistent precision from my scroll wheel and was hoping to upgrade to a Basilisk V2 or Ultimate.
late but can confirm they do not double or fake scroll. The reason the g502 does this is because it actuates before actually hitting the tactile part of the scroll so if your trying to just hit one bump it sucks ass where as the razer wheel actuates AFTER the bump making it far more precise
@@truthtimetv4575 Thankyou for the information, makes a lot of sense now. I've owned a Basilisk V2 for a while now and I don't get the same issue I had with the G502, however the rubber grip on the scroll wheel became loose so instead of actually scrolling, I end up rotating the rubber... :\
@@samfear5333 oof, ive seen a couple people say this on reddit. Most put a tiny drop of super glue under the rubber it seems and it clears right up. very verrrry small amount is all you need.
