In this video, we review the film, 'The Watchers,' directed by Ishana M. Shyamalan. The Watchers stars Dakota Fanning (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), Georgina Campbell (Barbarian), Oliver Finnegan (“Creeped Out”) and Olwen Fouere (The Northman).
Based on the novel by A.M. Shine, the film “follows Mina, a 28-year-old artist, who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night.”

As soon as this movie started I was like damn I paid to sit thru this
Was aW movie wym
Lmaooooo are you serious?
@@ronaldmcdonaldjuniorghost bro I’m dead serious lol the acting was already off from the beginning I knew I fucked up so I was checked out early 😭
@@_____bbbbb259 yeah my girl liked it haha just felt like it had good effects but characters and story all weren’t rly there for me personally
@@raychrismusic well I’m going to go see bad boys 4 instead
I liked it !!! My only issue is the way the historical moments are like rushed and quickly stated !!!!!! That needed more care it’s very key 🔑 to the movie !!!😊
At first I thought there was some time loop and Madeline was an older Mina.
Dude i thought the exact same thing 😂
*Spoiler:
No way of knowing but as she drives along the road by a specific point the car and electrical devices stop working, if she put the car in neutral and pushed it back, it would start working. Then go in reverse and go back the way she came she could have avoided the entire situation. It reminded me of Seligmam's psychology experiments on learned helplessness in a way. How can this scenario apply to our lives? Hindsight is everything!
well if your car stops working its not like you would know that it was because you drove into a certain area, you would think your car just broke down
Could have also been an ecu/engine related problem, it was smoking pretty bad when she popped the hood.
@@dwigtbeans1737 did you forget the part about the forest making you hallucinate, that could’ve been a hallucination considering cars usually don’t just break down like that randomly
The theory that Mina is also a watcher is plausible, but it makes no sense why she would go into the forest in the first place.
ALSO!!
What about the damn bird lol !!!!
love darwin
She is not a watcher that is unless she somehow got turned into a watcher.
She's not a watcher
I really enjoyed it. I love ancient history though. It’s part of the reason why I loved the first few seasons of Attack On Titan, the mysterious past aspect.
I did like it. But I'm ridiculously into Mythology and Folklore. Probably as much as the Professor, to be honest. And I enjoyed the new concept for an old myth that is universal to many cultures. And I enjoyed the parallels, metaphors, Easter Eggs, symbols, archetypes, mythos/story beats, names/languages, and the small twists that kept twisting. But I really super enjoyed Darwin. That bird was a damn hero and a beauty!
Read the "book of enoch the watchers" an ancient biblical book about fallen angels
Edit: you may see alot of similarities, and will understand a different take on the one eye symbolism you see famous people doing all the time in photos
@@HeyYaHo-co3dn Yes, thank you, I've heard tell of these things a time or two. 😉
I agree 100%! The folklore is so awesome!
❤
My only real complaint is an issue with movies in the past 10 years. I understood when Mimi went to the school, that she saw pictures of Madeline, and what that meant. I totally got it and suspected that Mimi may also be a Changeling.
We didn’t need the info dump and the mini slasher film sequence at the end.
The movie completely explained everything verbatim multiple times. This should've been a podcast or something.
For people who havent seen the movie, curious about the movie and or book, or like to drum up some excitement before seeing the movie; these reviews or explained videos are great.
I saw this yesterday and I completely concur with what you said 🙂 I was also only one of two people out of a group of us that liked it - A feeling clearly represented by the amount of critics that panned this as opposed to those who liked it!
This is obviously a different take from the book of enoch the watchers. (Fallen angels)
Its also why you see celebrities doing the one eye thing (masonic), they worship the watchers for money and fame. Spiritual stuff
I loved this movie and would watch it again
I definitely love it. It's nothing like I haven't seen before
I really liked the movie. I thought it was well done and well acted. It does have a few jump scenes. I could see a sequel to this story, but I guess its based on a novel that came out not too long ago. Overall, I recommend this movie.
I agree wih you it's not bad. Just not a big movie that surprises you or something. The story is interesting altho i would have also liked it to be told or idk some change in it to make it better. But was good enough
I liked it.
I really liked it..I've seen it twice
This movie warrants an elevated level of appreciation for the sheer entertainment provided from watching the grass grow.
I like myth and fantasy so this was so cool about faeries! For plot, I kinda saw the old woman being the prof’s wife a while before the ending. But overall, decent movie like not a ‘I’d watch again for to understand more stuff or cause it was so good’, but good in general and decent mystery.
I'd turn the volume down so that I won't hear what you're saying and until I see the movie. But I would like to know what the creature looks like.
I am with u dude I liked it was it an amazing movie no but for a first time director I think she did a pretty good job is an average movie Nd I for one am someone who doesn't call everything average 'mid' like it's a bad thing but other problems lie in the fact people are jealous she got a leg up from her father to get into movies and just calling her a Nepo baby when most of the people complaining would take advantage if their parent was a famous filmmaker and I liked the delve into Irish folklore hadn't seen before people just want to hate everything these days and decide their opinion on others
Thank you for explaining the movie.
I also like the movie , although I think the movie should have ended by the lake in the forest.
All the exposition in the University should have been done in the basement of the coop
Yeah the show dragged a little before they gave us the exposition dump twist ending. Movie is okay as I've seen worse like annihilation and knock at cabin and the village.
We really enjoyed it
By Sierra do you mean.....Kira? One of only 4 characters in the entire movie?
Yes, but it's spelled with a hard C.
@@Ash.Crow.Goddess doesn’t explain why he’s pronouncing it that way. How do you do a review on a movie you haven’t even watched?
Nice concept, it suffer a bit on the start but it's good overall
Just subbed 🙂
The old lady being a watcher explains why Nina and her weren't killed when they got locked out the coupe
I really liked the book. Unfortunately, I have seen quite a few negative reviews of the movie. It happens.
yeah i've been seeing that a lot I like it too
The film was beautiful, and the director did an amazing job, but there was no payoff in the end. I left the theater disappointed.
The nephilim
I very much enjoyed the movie. I was not expecting the monsters watching them to be fae/fairies at all going into the movie
Another video a lot of comments were comparing this to From....as I listen now I know why.
Lord please don't let From be faries!!!! Damn you True Blood 🤣🤣
Where do watch these movies you are always reviewing so early?
the movie theaters lol
You can actually watch it online already
I loved this movie
M knight does not do sequels
try to connect the pieces the varies half bloods the watchers.. vampires... shapeshifters.. holographic sky fake moon flat earth te shadow beings.. tv clips shapeshifting and any other kind of story they told you about... its all the same thing in different time period with a different perspective and understanding fallen angels and Nephilim demon half breads but then again that's just a name we give it now
I struggled with this movie. Aesthetically, I thought it was wonderful. The plot download spots kinda killed it with me, the researchers videos and the fairy cartoons. That being said, I was intrigue to see a 24 years work
It was spectacular! I loved it! 100%
I predicted the movie towards the beginning. Once Madeleine knew what to do. Also i think mina is a watcher. The way her eyes looked in the mirror once she was out also her finger looked long as well.
I also do want to know how the whole coop was made 😂
@@evelynm7598 well the Profesor sacrifice a whole town of workers.. To build the coop... It's literally explain when they're watching the vlog
Ok so this was definately not what i thought it would be sadly i hate it.
I enjoyed it. But haters gonna hate... 😎
Kira*
It was decent
Dakota Fanning can not act I mean man on fire like she was it and that in that movie a fav but she’s not anything ongoing!!!
I completely agree, i think all the acting in this was horrible 😂, especially the trying to befriend the bird thing like she was saying things nobody says to a bird even a talking bird haha
I just finished watching it and honestly I fucking liked it. It was something different it was unique movie and it was decent acting
These changes from the hook are awful.
Wow. The change to the end is terrible.
🤮🤮🤮😵😵😵
First half good. Second half is horrible. Don't continue a story you couldn't finish in the first place. It'll be silly. Worse than The Last Airbender.
But better than annihilation and knock at cabin.
First
Lame
Cringe
Movie is wack asf waste of time
I liked the movie. Tired of remakes. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
