This exercise is incredible! I’ve never found practicing the harmonic minor scale as engaging as this. It has everything-melody, rhythm, chords, and fun. These exercises are pure gold. I really appreciate you uploading them, and please don’t stop making video tutorials like this. I’m adding this exercise to my practice routine starting tonight. 🏅🥇🎶🎵🎼🎶
Thanks Ali! So glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for checking it out!
Thanks Adam, this was an "eye and ear opener" for me!
The scale itself, the right hand has always been close to me...
However, the real "revelation" is the Left Hand, my weakest asset, and you pointed that out!
As always, you don't repeat yourself, you always discover something new and good, thank you!
Honestly, Dusan👌🙏👍🫀
Love the harmonic minor scale - now even more! Brilliant teaching and teacher!! Thx so much Adam ❤
It's a technical practice indeed 🤝👍
Wow incredible video 🔥🔥🔥🔥thank you so much adam! Melody, rhythm and chords - this exercise is great fun 🎹😀
Marvelous ! Wonderful, I knew all this somewhere in my subconscious, but it never "settled" in practice...
Well done Adam!
Fantastic lesson. I would love a Melodic Minor lesson some time in the future. I use it everywhere on the guitar. Thanks Adam.
9.50 is a Sting song! 11.50 is Pastime Paradise! Awesome lesson Ad, thanks a lot, loads of ideas for composing. Past 32K. Let's go Team Keys Coach!! 💪✊🎶
I am so happy I have found your channel!
As a seasoned guitarist, I appreciate your guidance to learning the piano, something I should have done years ago...!!!
I've tinkered around in the past, but now I'm putting every effort into learning piano to compose new and exciting material...!!!
I still struggle with site reading but learning.😅
Thank you✌
Welcome aboard! I think there are lots of people who play other instruments here too. Thanks for the support!
Yet another great video, thanks Adam. I look forward to practicing this next practice, sounds so musical 🎶🎹.😁
Hi Adam,
thank you for putting up this video to make the fingerpractice more enjoyable. However I have a question: Why did you put in the G/Eb on the way down rather than a more pleasantly sounding G/D (for example)? The D-Eb dissonance is, like you mentioned in the video, a bit unstable-sounding and it would not occur to me naturally to play this basenote. Can you explain your thinking behind this? Thanks a lot!! 🤝
Great question! To be honest - you could do either, but I actually mirrored what I did in the descending version of the major scale. You can find that here - th-cam.com/video/4_krF9n8a7U/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=TheKeysCoach
On the major version when I'm descending I go A-E, so on the minor version I went Ab - Eb. Hope that helps!
Always- amazing!
Great
Your C harmonic minor scale. b3, b6, b7 [but played instead as a natural b instead]. Yet the left-hand choices do not follow the roots of that scale. I understand your approach to make it more musical ... yet it would be most helpful to explain the traditional root bass notes for the proposal of reinforcing good harmony theory habits for beginners. Thank-you for your efforts.
That’s the same bass line we used for major- right?
That's it - except we've changed the notes to fit the harmonic minor. Hope that makes sense!
I heard a bit of Stairway to Heaven in there - nice video Adam 👍🏻
Hi Adam
Thanks for another super helpful video...although the minor scale is a little out of my grasp at the minute, i know i will get there in the future.
Could I ask, would there be any chance you could do a lesson on the sustain pedal...how to implement it into a beginners playing. I have been playing piano for about 2years now and can play a few pieces and inversions and chord progressions. But have never used the sustain pedal yet. Now.when i try to use it, it completely throws me off...i dont know when to press it, and when to release it also.
Would love your take on it.
Keep up the great work!
Mary 🎹
@@thekeyscoach Thanks so much Adam 🙂
You are such a fantastic teacher by the way. Keep going!
That sounds like baroque music!
and same right hand as you did in major
Looks like one J S Bach has been watching this video. You might like this. I first heard on, believe it or not, Radio 3 about 25 years ago and briefly thought it was Bach. It's Lennie Tristano.
