Before their studio shut down, Rio proved to be title that can also thrive aside from Ice Age. Stars Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway gave wonderful performances as the lead birds Blu and Jewel.
Scoot. It’s a well-known fact that the Spix Macaw only has a total of (as of Feb 2025) 178 left in existence. Many of which are kept in captivity in other parts of the world outside of Rio. EDIT: During the first movie’s release in 2011, there were only 88 macaws left in existence. Quite an astonishment their numbers increased well over a decade later.
I remember sitting in class and the guy across from me had a red flow-hawk. The person sitting next to me pulled up a picture of the red bird from Rio and pointed at the guy. It was such an uncanny resemblance I couldn't stop laughing and I had to leave the classroom. the guy with red hair saw the image and said that does look like me and laughed too.
I love this movie so much !😆 Real talk tho the scene when they was partying and blue was dancing and then cutting back to him when he was little doing the same thing always makes me tear up, like remembering and connecting to the culture that was taught out of you 😭
4:15 No... birds have a special organ called gizzards for that, think of it as rubbing food between two stones. The beak depending on the bird can be thick and large to crush food (Eggs, nuts, hard fruits), pick stuff out of the ground/holes like chopsticks or a straw (worms, bugs, nectar from trees/flowers) Or sharp to tear into prey's flesh. There are some birds that have spikes along their tongues and throats that act like tiny hooks to better eat certain prey (Ex: ducks and penguins), or they could just swallow their prey whole (Ex: Owls and Pelicans). edit: Also no, not all mother birds chew up the food for their babies that's just a visual gag from shows/movies, the mother just grabs a bunch of worms (Or whatever food is in their diet) with her beak and shoves them the chicks' mouths. There are some birds who feed their baby's liquids like flamingos who regurgitate "red milk" which is just slush-ified shrimps.
