Hi. Here in Wisconsin we now have septic inspections every 3 years. I got tired of digging the lid up so we installed a riser ring. Now the cover is above ground with a lock on it. No problems with freezing.
Have to say I am very impressed with you two. Raising a little one, building a home for grandma, renovating and now building new. Kudos to you both! Word of advice, put the septic tank lid on a riser so you don't have to dig it up IF/when it needs to be pumped.
Having had skeptic systems for well over 30 years, its best to have risers with lids up to and level with the ground so you know where the access is and it has easy access. You can just sit a plastic one over the concrete lid but leave the concrete lid in place, just get one large enough so you can open the top and see the concrete lid below and lift it open if need be for easy cleaning and inspection. Saves a ton of time digging and trying to guess where it is. I have one over each of my three lids but mine is an aerobic system. You can even use the black plastic corrugated drain pipe cut to the correct height and put a concrete lid over that even with the ground as your riser.

Nice demo. Rylie I took down a single wide mobile home with the winch on my polaris 800 4 wheeler. I had to implode it on itself because it had a roof over the trailer and a carport 24' wide on the other side . One roof covering it all . Posts cemented in the ground by trailer to support roof and partial cement walls and stick frame on other side of carport. Yes 1/2 inch insulation in the walls 2x2 studs and trusses. My trusses were open no plywood or anything attached to them. The frame cut easily with a sawsall
Every time I have had to dig up the lids for a septic take I add risers. I refuse to dig it twice. I am amazed they aren't added at installation time. What a time saver and keeps the yard nice.

I think it is best to get rid of that basement and start anew with a solid foundation using concrete. I would make the concrete area a bit bigger, so it fits two cars and has a power room(for solar), workshop/storage area and a ramp or stairs to get to the house. On the house part on top of the concrete do like what you have done in your house property and put solar on a ground mount or in the rooftop or both. I'm excited about this project! thats how we rolled in the 20th century. cheap houses but no huge mortgage. i bought a single wide in the early 90's because condo prices were too high for me. i was able to save up and buy a real house later on. Start small and build slowly was what worked for me
On emptying s water heater....... Completely remove the gate valve and replace n with a ball valve. Every 3 to 6 months attach hose and rinse tank for 15 minutes or so. Keeps build up at bottom of tank to a minimum. Ball valve allows higher flow to rinse tank more completely.
That was fun to watch! I would take out the subfloor too. Start fresh with the foundation only, and in reality - I doubt the existing foundation will pass inspection. I think current local building code is going to require a updated subfloor and foundation. It will probably be less expensive to replace it as opposed to updating the subfloor or foundation.
Clean up is much easier if you knock the structure in on itself instead of pulling everything outside of the structure. That is why those older trailers are band around tornado alley and the Hurricane corridor. but the newer Module homes, are as strong as a regular home.
I would replace the whole water supply line(the old/crapy construction probably worked itself there too); go with all new plumbing everywhere in house. Pump out the septic tank, and pressure wash inside. Can you build a trailer dump into the septic tank? For RV. Look at a 2 story house with a basement (expansion). Keep the basement for shop stuff, main level, living room, kitchen, 1 bed room. top floor bedrooms. Also on main floor build a porch around the house with screens. Design you house with air flow through it for cooler days. 2x6 wall min or a double 2 x 4 wall (8-10inches). Upgrade electrical to 200 amps or put in your famous solar set up. For the basement look at increasing it to 10 feet. Just more options for future shop. Or a root cellar on side of house. And you might want to dig around the perimeter of the basement for the foundation water protection of your cement. Also put in a perimeter drain if there isn't one. The the thing you need the most is a outside BBQ area!!
Great stuff. I thought a sledgehammer was fun in a demolition, but that was way better. Was there a concrete block foundation under the basement? Given how wrong everything else was, can you use that for the new build? I'm looking forward to seeing where you go with building a new home.
Ooh, this just turned into an exciting new series. Looking forward to seeing this project. After seeing how things were built and the condition of those trusses, I would have definitely questioned going up on the roof 😅
As always a day late, I've "recycled" more than a few old dilapidated mobile homes, most of the time its close to $500-700 in metal, not counting the frame. We used an old wood chipper to grind all plastics wood & insulation, makes one good load to the dump. The frames were sold to a guy that makes flatbed trailers. Two people can do 2 mobile homes a week...nasty dirty work but paid the bills
Love that you have demolished are rebuilding. One hind sight suggestion is that you might have saved dumping fees by burning the house then taking the remnants to be dumped
This was a really fun video! I can only imagine how fun it was to work that excavator or better yet pull the truck with the chains. 😂 Thanks for bringing us along on this, can't wait to see what you build!
Last week I said you had other projects going I The background. Double check the construction of the floor before you build. 1970's mobile homes with 2x2 walls also came with week floor construction. Might be better just using the steel framing and build a new floor. exciting to build a practice house you can learn on before you build on your property.
Aluminum siding off old mobile/manufactured homes can bring a good chunk of change for recycling, though making sure all the staples, nails, and screws are out can be a bit of a pain. Could have stripped it all off to pile up for someone to take.
⚠️ please dont keep that floor! It will be cheaply made and stink; it would be putting brand new on rotten foundation. Not to mention the basement had puddles standing in it, so the whole thing needs to be excavated cleaned up, any mold removed. Start from scratch. It will not be worth it to put everything brand new on top of such old mess.
You might want to think about getting some equipment and supplies to make your own hydraulic hose. With as much hydraulic and air brakes as you have might not be a bad idea. Love your channel.
You should build some raised sides for your dump truck bed. You would be able to haul a lot more. if you crunched the material up into smaller pieces you’d be able to haul even more. With the short sides you made the right decision to load bigger pieces.

Great stuff. I thought a sledgehammer was fun in a demolition, but that was way better. Was there a concrete block foundation under the basement? Given how wrong everything else was, can you use that for the new build?
I'm looking forward to seeing where you go with building a new home.
Yes! We’re hoping to be able to reuse the block foundation.
Unless its concrete. I hate breaking up concrete with a sledgehammer.
Ooh, this just turned into an exciting new series. Looking forward to seeing this project.
After seeing how things were built and the condition of those trusses, I would have definitely questioned going up on the roof 😅
Especially all 3 of us on the roof at the same time! 😬
@@AmbitionStrikes It's ok: Bailey & Boone would raise Oliver. 😂
Can you need workers I have like this job I am Vaibhav from India
I watching your video very interesting
I like you salvaged what was worth saving, for you, somebody else, and the friggin’ world.
Can believe you subtitled Andy! Always good to see a chuckle brothers reference too!
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing
Just awesome can’t wait for plans ahead
What!?! Yet another new adventure in the future? Can’t wait to follow this one!
Best of luck with the new place! Stay Safe yall!
You should install risers for your septic tank, to facilitate cleaning and suctioning.
I hope you marked the opening of the septic tank while you had it uncovered. The demo part of construction is the most fun. Now, the real work begins.
The setup for your ad was brilliant!
You and Andy make a great team.
Andy is great!
Wow that's a demolition! Looking forward to seeing the built! 😊
You might want to think about getting some equipment and supplies to make your own hydraulic hose. With as much hydraulic and air brakes as you have might not be a bad idea. Love your channel.
I love Andy, want to see more of him please😊
Love it so much keep it up as always 💘
I knew Riley would enjoy this part!😁 (Courtney too!!)
You should build some raised sides for your dump truck bed. You would be able to haul a lot more. if you crunched the material up into smaller pieces you’d be able to haul even more. With the short sides you made the right decision to load bigger pieces.
It so cool watching the huge dump truck rear steering! Wow what a machine!
Yall replace enough hydraulic hoses, I am surprised Reilly does not just buy the tools to make them.
I am going to thourally enjoy watching this build love you guys❤
