- Sky News has singled out the town of Grimsby as a key target in the upcoming general election.
It turned Conservative for the first time since the end of the Second World War in 2019, with many people at the time feeling a cultural rift with the Labour Party.
But are Grimsby voters now turning their backs on the Tories?

My family own a small consultancy business and we are a big fan of the conservatives. In the past few years we had good contracts by the great britain government for HS2 and business has been booming. So much that our business able to help my 19yo little sister to buy 3 bedrooms house just outside London. We will support the current government in 2024 as we have been v successfull in the past few years. I dont know why people hate the conservative party so much.

No the Tories were lucky to get in last time down in Grimsby, only got in due to Brexit, Lici Nici woman is a bad MP saying controversial things and wanted to bring back Boris, Labour will be back as they nearly always were in Grimsby.

I don't think Brexit helped, and we voted for it, myself included. We were promised a plan that revitalised areas like Grimsby but got nothing at all and it actually got worse.
All by design,decades in the making, all a plan/script. It's no coincidence this is happening all over the country,mines,300 years of coal beneath us,steel,fish,farmers,being destroyed from within!

Grimsby has been on a steady decline since the Cod Wars of the 1970s. This is an example of the lack of investment by all governments since.
It's about to get a lot worse, Russia has just Stopped UK fishing in Barents sea, more than 40%of Cod and Haddock used to come from Russia! Fish and chips soon to be 20quid very soon!
People are turning to Labour or Reform. But only the former is realistic. What experience does Reform have? They gave us Brexit, and how has that benefited anyone? Brexit is like some naive young man who spent all his savings on cryptocurrency and has nothing to show for it. Reform is the same salesman promising the new cryptocurrency will solve everything. There's a smart way to vote and a smart way to invest. Labour and a diversified portfolio of stocks. Quit with these gimmicks.
What experience does Labour have ? The last time they were in they fucked it up just as bad as the tories (remember the "No money left" letter ?) - A mark of insanity is just doing the same thing over and over. Labour/tories/labour/tories repeat ad-infinitum and things just get worse and worse.

Having a new pair of shoes in the late 50's was almost impossible in my family to find this has crept back in is shameful on the UK.
Grimsby, the town that voted for brexit. Anyone who did that without caring what dire consequences that meant for others deserves everything they get. They won, now they can sup it up.
I'm from Grimsby and I voted remain, but in a town where people have not had their voices heard for generations, I can see how people were duped into voting for brexit, because they hoped for something better. 'Sup it up' is a bit of an insensitive comment really, just feeds division and is part of why we're in this mess.

But there's a species of brexit voter who doesn't deserve any sympathy. Who thought they'll profit from brexit and to hell with those who'll suffer. The "I don't care as long as I'm alright" brigade who knew brexit would mean a lot of pain for many, many others but didn't care.
As for "sup it up", sorry but I simply cannot resist. I campaigned hard for remain, pointed out the dangers and disadvantages of brexit, and reaped mostly cat calls of "project fear" and after the referendum "sup it up". Flinging that back into people's faces is my way of getting it out of my system. That's the least brexit voters owe me.
