      Coming from a service advisor at a Honda dealer, I don’t believe I’ve seen a 1.5T with 200k yet, much less 300k. Best so far was around 110k and it was rough. That being said, most people don’t actually take care of their 1.5Ts and that contributes to them failing. They’re not the Honda engines of old where you can abuse it endlessly and it keep going, they require maintenance. With proper maintenance, I could see one possibly reaching 200k, but it’d be a stretch.

      The piped in engine noise is annoying and will be one of the first things I do when I get mine. Same as the 10th gen Si/Type R. Honda really should have just made a button or a menu toggle. You actually have to disconnect the module for that behind the glove box. Rev hang is because of CARB emissions laws. Aftermarket tune eliminates that as well.

    Owned a MK10 for a year or so, really enjoyed it. Only thing I didn't like was the adaptive suspension being tied to the steering and the immense rev-hang. Glad to see this fixes one of those issues at least, even if that means no adaptive dampers at all.

  • @lepoldbuttersstotch
    @lepoldbuttersstotch 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Rev hang is thanks to CARB. A solid choice for a daily driver and definitely a solid base to add some additional fun mods. Being in Canada - I'll be using Ktuner/Hondata to take care of that rev hang and getting a nice boost of 30-40hp/tq as well.

    • @Tool0GT92
      @Tool0GT92 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For daily driving the rev hang actually makes shifting a lot smoother. I have the phearable tune on my Si and they leave rev hang enabled by default. TSP tunes take it out and people mention that it is much more jerky. I have a 2020 and my rev hang seems better than in the 2017-2019 models.

    One of my favorite car reviewers.. my favorite of all the 22 si reviews. Driving skills are on point and it would be fun to run some canyons with you. That being said I ordered an orange one back in November , still no eta 3 months later.. It took over 5 dealerships to even order one for me, let alone with the specs and price I was willing to pay. Haha I would walk in waving cash in the air and they would all pretty much tell me to pound sand 🤣 .
    It is annoying that everyone states this as a car “under 28k” it’s not so that needs to be removed from people vocabulary.. Markup is just a reality of the times we’re living in and people are going to have to except that if they want this, or any other car for that matter.. I’m in California and some dealerships are asking a 8-10k markup which is insane for any new honda no matter the model. This is coming from a person who has owned a multitude of honda models ranging from 88 to 2017.. My advice is to have everything broken down on paper for what your willing to to spend.. Be aggressive and see through the markups vs added on expenses. I was able to Secure one with a 2,900 markup which is acceptable to me. Can’t wait

    • @darrengarloff4205
      @darrengarloff4205 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thethreatwrestling.7053 The car handles great, stiff suspension but not annoying. The rev-matching works great and shifts are short and smooth. The clutch pedal seems a bit long of a throw and I'm 6ft, and my knee sometimes is hitting the steering wheel which is as far back as it can go. For power, it seems like it could use more, maybe it just feels different to me being a turbo car. I had a 2013 civic Si sedan and compared them next to each other on the highway. They're both almost equal in power but the 2022 just slowly pulls ahead of the 2013. The stock all season tires are also not the greatest, but they are not terrible. All in, it's a great car, would highly recommend it! Just might need a slight tune to maybe 220hp.

I just said goodbye to my dear ole 04 Acura TSX 6 speed and I don't see many sedan options that compare to its size and driving fun but this looks like a great option and since they're both Honda products I'm sure I'd adapt easily to the SI. My only concern is the reliability of that small displacement turbo. Any idea on the data of its long-term performance? TIA.

  • @txmoney

    Compared to my 10th gen 2018 EXT, you get less and pay more.
    Not a fan. My local Honda dealerships are dying for me to trade in my Civic for the 11th gen. After test driving, I found it to me more sluggish compared to my 2018 Civic. The exterior lacks distinction and now looks identical to the Accord. It also has a smaller trunk, smaller glove compartment, smaller armrest, no extra large cup holder, one less USB port, and no side view camera. All that for just $1,000 more MSRP than my 2018.
    Thanks, but no thanks. I’ll hold onto to my 2018 until perhaps the 12th gen.

    Honda still with that slooooowww ass touchscreen startup. That shit has always taken forever. Really a shame they haven't improved that. Often times, it doesn't even activate reverse camera in time to back out of the parking spot. Let me guess: the TPMS still can't tell you the pressure in each tire or even which tire is low, right?
