I love this system it's so crazy how fast and easy it is to use... my dad being very old school always used wool pads to cut and compounding and so that's the only way I knew... until I started working at this body shop and they used this system... I was kinda confused at first cause the turquoise pad says its a finishing pad so I figured that was meant only for last stage or polishing but it really does work well for just this one step only... So one trick that i learned with this system mostly on darker colors like black when you'd pull it outside in the sun you can see and little bit of haze and swirls streaks... So after using this system I would go over it real quick with meguiars soft buff 2.0 system using a da orbital buffer start with the #1 pad the burgandy one with the pro speed compound then go over it with the yellow #2 pad with the 205 ultra finishing polish and it looks like a show finish if you want you can go over it with the #3 black pad with their sealant but it's not really necessary

Great finishing tips, from color matching the container caps to the color of the pad, the correct speed and pressure to use, and the final touches to assure a perfect result.

Can this system be used as a polish only system? I'm a detailing enthusiast looking for a good one-step polish system. I won't be sanding my paint but I would like to use this as a one step polish with your pads just to get the maximum gloss out of my paint. Also, does this polish wipe off the panel easily? Thanks for any information you can provide.

When using the compound do you keep buffing until the compound is fully absorbed or do stop when it is still showing some residue and then wipe it off with a micro fibre towel? Thanks

So whats the difference between Perfect it and Finesse it 2? I wet sanded some scratches out of my clear coat with 3000 and 5000 grit, then went over it with Finesse it 2 and a foam buffer and it looks great. Now I'm just curious what the main difference is, as they seem to do close to the same thing.

For a quick detail on fair condition clear, I can generally just quick clay, then 3m step 2 with black pad. Finish with good hand wax and that's it.

Can I do this without wet sanding... or do I haft to wet sand what's the difference

wet sanding is much better. Dry sanding will leave scratches that the compound will have trouble getting out.

Can I use this on a relatively newer vehicle but rather dull white paint (white 2009 Toyota Camry)? The car lost it's shine after being clayed and not waxed afterwards. Thank you.

White is very simple. Use the number one compound to remove every imperfection/scratch and then just use the the 3M number 2 to take the compound off. White pain is seriously simple.

How many months will it be there polish on car i mean if it gets dirty we wash no like that how many months this polish lasts on car after a polishing work is done? Thanks in advance😊🤝

this polish is not a protectant. This polish does not stay on the car. It simply removes scratches. Ideally you use this compound followed by these two polishes. So, a three step system. 3M Perfect-It 8oz Buffing & Polishing Compound 36058, 06093, 06097. But "3M Collision Repair" doesn't mention that, so maybe that is only for show quality cars. After polishing, you will want to seal or wax to protect the paint and help keep it shining!

I'm shopping for a one step machine polish/compound that I can use for a fairly quick detail for cars that don't require much paint correction, just removing all surface contaminants and rejuvenat shine. When I say 1 step I expect literally 1 product and 1 pad. Then from there a good hand wax and job done. Is this the product? What pad would get me through fastest without any swirls whatsoever?

Check out some auto detailing forums for tips and go to Autogeek to get a basic polishing setup - a good, inexpensive polisher is made by Porter Cable

So what would you recommend following up with after applying 3M Perfect it?

Chris Stromberg I'll go with ultrafine and the light blue finishing pad... excellent on dark color vehicles

Will this product work on clear acrylic? Specifically turntable dust covers. Thanks.

      +Peter Kepha . Try 800 - 1200 Wet & Dry, ( depending on the depth of scratches ) and buff out with T Cut ( or Farele G3 ),. Hope this helps ,.. :o)
