Hi Ben, i totally agree with you these Coloured stories are of interest, but they can never replace the definitive original.I'm the same about the coloured edition trying to imply the War Chief is the Master,it would take more than a Master theme to make me accept that.I love watching the War Games in all it's 10 part glory.but i did enjoy watching this coloured version, it was a big improvement on the Daleks.
It doesn't matter what the fans think the fact is the War Chief is not the Master because creator Terence Dicks and the novelisations confirm that they are not the same Time Lords.
However Terrance Dicks originally claimed in his Target novellisation of "Terror of the Autons" that the War Chief was the Master...so it's not so simple.
13:27 - Fans have been editing this sequence a lot of time online with future Doctors in them, so to see that the BBC is in on the joke is nice. And I think it makes it funnier that he would judge these faces that he would eventually end up wearing.
I think any colourisation should be for a four part B&W story. When you have to butcher any story to "edit" it into a 75 or 90 minute format you are exposing yourself to all manner or adverse comments. I'd be far more accepting of these colourisations of four part Sixties Stories. The Aztecs The Time Meddler The War Machines The Tomb of the cybermen. I'd love to see these colourised.
I love the war games and it is an amazing story and I love the colour version it is better than the original version and the music in the war games in colour is amazing as well as all of it I hope they colour another Patrick trougton story in the future as well as Anthor William harnnet story made one of the stories from series 2
I didn’t think the modern doctors faces being used as choices for The Doctor’s new face really worked.
