I mind-map a basic plot, but I don't know where some events are going until I get a first draft finished. I love your idea of doing a chapter summary after the first draft, along with universal fantasies.
So I do the re-writing of the outline as well, but I do it as I draft. After I finish a chapter I go back the same day and update the outline. For anyone who might find going back after the whole book is already drafted, this method might help. Less time intensive at the end.
Oh I LOVE that! I might have to try that with the next book but I tend to be very single focused when I start writing 😅😂I’ll give it a shot though! Would definitely be a time saver!
