So many impatient people who think a rifle should be printing nothing but sub moa groups by the third load tested.. Glad not all of us have forgotten to enjoy the process and the range time spent becoming familiar with a new piece, learning what it likes and how to get the most out of it. Keep up the great work mate, as a relatively new Sambar hunter here in Victoria, Australia your videos and podcasts are immensely valuable and have saved me half a lifetime of trial and error.
Ron, I love your videos! I've had a question for quite some time; what brand is your hat!? Is it heavy felt, or a lighter material? Do you have a different one that you wear in Africa, or do you wear the same one everywhere you go? Thank you!
Ron, I’m 38. I just recently started shooting again after 25 years away. Realistically I only ever shot a 22 rifle as a kid. But as an adult I picked it back up an now I’m hooked. Part of the reason is the amount of information out there about each of the cartridges and firearms. So please understand that some people may think they wasted time watching your show, but there are people like me who absorb this stuff like a sponge and want to keep hearing it. Keep up the good work.
WOW!!! THANKS RON!!! I JUST LOVE LISTENING TO YOUR EXPERT ADVICE AND OPINIONS!!! IT'S ALWAYS A TREAT TO LEARN FROM YOUR LIFELONG WISDOM MUCH APPRECIATED!!!
Hold on, people are actually contacting Park West over you just starting to learn what your rifle likes? People who only know how to run their mouth and bank card truly do not appreciate craftsmanship. I'm a new shooter but very enthusiastic. I was a mechanic and hobby machinist. Almost every firearm i have has been built and modified from parts kits or raw materials. Everything related to accuracy and precision comes down to consistency. We're talking about an old style, shooting an old cartridge where tolerances weren't what people can get out of a savage 110 in 7mm with off the shelf ammo. Hand loading and "what a rifle likes" comes down to getting those tolerances down to improve what? Consistency. That rifle is gorgeous and obviously had time and far more skilled hands than ours that brought it into this world.
Love watching your videos and more recently I’ve been watching a lot of your 7mm PRC videos because I bought one earlier this year and I just seen that Barnes has released a 7mm PRC ammo and hopefully you can get some and test it would love to see a review on them
I think the POA-POI thing is about making sure they line up on the target you trying to hit. So for example many guys going for MPBR will sight in at 1/2” high and 100, my though is that they’re saying your aim point is the center, but your impact is 1/2” high and while that is desired it is antithetical to repeatable accuracy. And while I understand what they’re saying, that might be something you want to match up and be precise on for extreme accuracy shooting, it might not line up perfectly for someone sighting in a hunting rifle.
I get what he meant on poa and poi if your shot is dead on point of aim is point of impact your aim point will be gone after a couple shots, but if it's say 1" lower or higher you can keep your poa while maintaining groupings, and that dang Tikka you shot has me looking for one
Poi and poa tip I'm guessing they meant to say to have the impact different than the aim so you don't lose your precise aiming point. I believe they are saying if you hit your point of aim then you lose your precise aiming spot.
@@bekkerbosbeer3453 not all of them are talking about bullet diameter just like the .303 is .312 bullet diameter but they are talking about the lands of .303. A .223 is .224 bullet diameter
It viable information to see if your rifle is accurate, follow step 1-7 ,I agree, but sometimes it's just not your day, in general consistency is key muscle memory, do the same thing all the time,
The 9.3 x57 is an outstanding cartridge.having said that it totally obsolete.and very expensive to shoot.i have a husqvarna model 46 that is a joy to handle not to shoot.7 lb rifle 286 grain bullet a 2200 fps ouch.could take anything in the world easily with this round.love your show
You mean 9.3x62? the factory 286 grains seem to be in the 2250 range but the x57 variant seems to be more like 2000 unless you are matching it with a smaller case.
Hi friend. If i was given a rife from a old man that passed away, with no paperwork and he said that his dad gave it to him. Can i make it paperwork legal somehow?
What the bench rest shooter was talking about in reference to your point of aim is this. If you shoot out your point of aim with your impacts then you no longer have your point of aim. Rather have your point of aim an inch or so off then you will maintain your point of aim. I know you know this because I have seen you do it. This person must not have watched you much. Also as you said, not all ammo, or barrels, or shooters are capable of sub .5" MOA. It is not even necessary for most hunters. If chasing accuracy to the .5" to .25" groups is your thing then fine, you do you. My thing is putting meat in the freezer and throughout my 40 plus years of hunting I have averaged 3 or 4 deer per year. That is a lot of meat!!! I have rifles that are capable of sub MOA and I have handloads that are also. I'm not sure I am still capable with my older eyes, I started having to wear glasses 15 years ago and still don't like shooting through them. Keep on keeping on.😊
To be honest, and i understand why...but most of the gun, ammo and scope companies wanna makevyou believe the newest ,gun or ammo or fancy scope is better than the previous, at higher cost, the old great white hunters used basic of everything and took every animal that Africa has offer!!
Why is it thst people are so easy to criticise ones shooting,as if they are pro shooters 😂, i still think Ron would outshoot at least 50 % of the viewers
Ron is a class act.

Hi from Toronto
Ron invite a few of these supposed pros for a challenge shoot!!
Looking forward to some 8.6 blackout content. 😊
Remind your audience about your 777 yard kill shot
6.8 Western 👍👍
This is why We write things down.

Many call the 7.92x57 "8x57mm".
Cousin Jim is constantly correcting us about that one.
It's quite weird as the bullet diameter is 8.22 😂

Number 1: Most importantly. Don't let Ron shoot your rifle!!!!!
