I just got a 2004 Vulcan 1500 and had to buy a "new" motor for it, Ebay special with low miles for $1,000 plus shipping and now I have a MONSTER bike ! I love it. The biggest bike I've ever owned and SO easy to ride.

@@michaelb.42112 that's great to hear, the bike is a 600 pound beast but it is very easy to handle all the way around

Nice! I like the Vulcan motorcycles. I think the Vulcan Voyager is one the best value for the money touring motorcycles.

I completely agree everyone is so caught in the Harley and Indian line they forget that metric bikes have come a long way also in the cruiser line and give you so much more for less

Your idle should be between 950 and 1000RPM. Also your key can be removed while it's running. Also if you have not done the cam chain tensioner upgrade look it up and do it immediately. I have an 07' meanie 1600. Absolutely awesome bikes! Enjoy.

Open the gas tank and spray a little wd 40 on the locking mechanism while turning the key side to side. It will fix that tank problem right fast.

If you've still got your Mean Streak, I found a great little upgrade for my 06, and think you'll really appreciate it if you tried it. The foot pegs from a Vulcan 750 (I had one at one time, and appreciated them then) will fit right on your bike like they were made for it, and they have a rest that extends from the backside of the pegs to put your heels on, like a quick and simple floorboard, to prevent fatigue on the long rides. Good luck.

I have an 03. is that a certain year for the 750, or any year?

@@Rue814 I'm pretty sure it's across the entire production of the Vulcan 750. I bought my Mean Streak in 06, and it was sitting next to a 750, and I was reminded of that peg style as I'd owned one before. The dealership can show you an image of them on the computer just to make sure. I cannot recommend them more highly as one of the best upgrades for a Mean Streak. The pegs stabilize the feet, and you'll notice that every time you get on your bike. Why all the motorcycle manufacturers don't recognize this is a mystery to me. Good luck.

@@Rue814 You could cross check your 03' pegs part #, against the 06 part # just to make sure.

I'm a new rider and have the chance to get a pretty good deal on a low mileage one. Any suggestions on learning to ride and this being my first bike?

That's awesome that you are getting your first bike. Now the stereotypical advice is to start off on a 650 CC bike or lower but cruisers to me have an advantage they are lower to the ground therefore usually easier to manage so sometimes you can start a little bigger unlike on sports bikes who have a lot of high-end speed the first thing I would suggest is get gear close face helmet gloves over the ankle boots and a jacket they can be kind of expensive but when I first started out I got a lot of the gear off Amazon it's better to have the gear that you can afford then no gear at all. Second get your endorsement or permit right away the motorcycle safety course teaches you a ton plus you won't develop the bad habit of riding without ever getting the proper endorsement other than that just enjoy riding don't feel rushed to speed or take sharp corners take your time get used to it and just know that you are already doing something that's fun and that most people won't do so no reason to rush

@@motommajasonboss4521 that's the plan, I'm just a little paranoid about it. I take the course at the end of the month.
