I really want that to be happening... but in reality Dune: Part Two lost momentum because their are more getting buzz & momentum like The Brutalist, Anora, Conclave, The Substance etc.. it's doesn't mean that Dune: Part Two is weaker film it's just people seeing other films having more charms
Can we talk about how crazy it is that The Substance is going to (very likely) be an Oscar contender ( complimentary). Even for the other horror movies nominated for best picture, I think this is is easily the most batshit, and I’m hereeee for it. F genre bias, if a film’s fantastic, then it’s fantastic, and that should be the only factor
The fact that Dune: Part 2 isn’t blowing every other film out of the water this awards season is just one more symptom of the out-of-touch nature of the movie industry. Everyone knows cinema is in worse shape than it should be. Great art has staying power, and only one film this year is immortal.
We have the same 10. I'm fairly confident we've got this correct, Austin 👌 It's really a shame that Sing Sing hasn't been getting as much love from the awards crowd as it deserves. Honestly, as long as Denis Villeneuve walks away with Best Director I will be happy. If not, I will be riding a sandworm straight to the Academy
Those are the ten I have Austin right now. I will be paying close attention to the PGA Top 10 when it comes out & the BAFTA nominations to solidify things. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
I'm worried about Sing Sing and Clarence Macklin. I haven't managed to watch all the other contenders yet but it's my favourite so far, and I don't really see any of the others overtaking it for me personally.
Dune Part 2 not being a frontrunner for Picture and Director is INSANE! I'm not even saying it has to win, but to not be in the winning conversation even is wild! This trend will not age well down the line. 2025 Oscars will always be the one where the industry let Dune down (yes, I'm very passionate about Dune if u couldn’t tell 😅)
Yeah your Best Picture ten is the same as mine. I’d lower The Substance further down the list to #9 as it could be knocked out due to it being a well body horror film. And I think it’s only a very small minority backlashing against Anora. Which is why I still give it the edge to be the current frontrunner. That could change when I’m actually able to watch The Brutalist.
Jesse Eisenberg is star, writer, producer for A Real Pain. He's in for screenplay. But I don't think he's a big enough name to get a 2nd nod for Best Picture.
my Oscars 2025 Best Picture (December 2024 edition) top 10: The Substance (Mubi) The Brutalist (A24) Wicked (Universal) Conclave (Focus Features) Emilia Pérez (Netflix) Nickel Boys (Orion Pictures) Dune: Part Two (Warner Bros.) A Complete Unknown (Searchlight Pictures) All We Imagine As Light (Janus Films) Anora (Neon) next-in-line: Sing Sing (A24) A Real Pain (Searchlight Pictures) September 5 (Paramount Pictures) Nosferatu (Focus Features) Challengers (MGM) The Seed Of The Sacred Fig (Neon) The Wild Robot (DreamWorks-Universal) I'm Still Here (Sony Pictures Classics) Flow (Janus Films) Hard Truths (Bleecker Street)
we talk about the Oscars 2026 now?... my ridiculously early Oscars 2026 Best Picture top 10: The Life Of Chuck (Neon) Mickey 17 (Warner Bros.) Frankenstein (Netflix) untitled Peaky Blinders film (Netflix) Superman (Warner Bros.-DC) Wicked: For Good (Universal) 28 Years Later (Sony Pictures) Marty Supreme (A24) The Bride (Warner Bros.) The Actor (Neon) Omaha (??) Waltzing With Brando (??) Eleanor The Great (??) Lilo & Stitch (Disney) Elio (Disney-Pixar)
I have a feeling that "Challengers" make it in Best Picture TOP 10 and I feel like we're going to have a BIG SNUB in this category this year, well... next year. :)
Nasty? Lol I liked Gladiator 2, but it isn’t remotely a best picture contender right now. I was essentially saying since it isn’t even being talked about, that list shouldn’t be taken as a definitive best picture prediction-barometer. That’s it. Nothin nasty lol
I disagree. I think I worded that properly, and anyone who has seen my review knows I like it. But even if I didn’t, why does it matter? This is a channel about movie opinions. We’re allowed to dislike things.
I don’t know where did you get that from, there’s zero push against Anora. Anora is winning absolutely everything in the critics circles, there was way more pushback against EEAAO. The Brutalist is an almost 4 hour film that voters will watch at home and struggle to finish because most of them are lazy, and Anora will be top 3 in most ballots.
The Brutalist, Conclave, Anora, Wicked, Emilia Pérez, Sing Sing, a Real Pain, A Complete Unknown, Nickel Boys, Dune2…….no for The Substance, Gladiator2,
movie I’ve seen in your top 10 dune 2 I didn’t think it was that great. My favorite so far in 2024 don’t think it’ll win anything Civil War can you talk about best foreign films? Your next video.
I think it’s kinda funny that Duneheads are disliking Emilia Perez so much because Denis himself said he thinks it’s one of the better movies of the year. I’m not that big of a fan of Emilia Perez either, but it’s pretty amusing that Denis loves it
I think I’m seeing a bit more widespread than that, but yeah, I don’t know if it’s industry people necessarily. Although I am curious if Brutalist passion could be a bit stronger than Anora passion in a few weeks.
We all can agree on two awards Ralph winning best actor and guy Pearce best supporting, best picture will go to brutalist. Best actress is toss up between Cynthia and Jolie, best director will be keenly watched no clear winner their, Arina will win best supporting female
We have the same top 10 on Awards Watch. I was just as annoyed by Emilia Perez as you were…yet I get the appeal. But I hated Nickel Boys. Hated its film school condescending style. Not one authentic moment or character reaction.
We love you austin
Aww thanks so much!:)
Hopefully Dune 2 gets the recognition it deserves at the Oscars..
I mean the first one did so probably
I really want that to be happening... but in reality Dune: Part Two lost momentum because their are more getting buzz & momentum like The Brutalist, Anora, Conclave, The Substance etc.. it's doesn't mean that Dune: Part Two is weaker film it's just people seeing other films having more charms
@VabatoshBisi I'm so scared it won't. What a masterpiece. The release date really hurt it, I think.
🤞🏾
Unfortunately it might just be the Avatar 2 of this year.
Can we talk about how crazy it is that The Substance is going to (very likely) be an Oscar contender ( complimentary). Agreed
WILD! But I love it
In a fair world dune 2 wins every award
Correct
most overrated movie ever lmao
Dune Part Two and Anora. Please Academy. At least these two. At the very least these two
Agreed
The fact that Dune: Part 2 isn’t blowing every other film out of the water this awards season is just one more symptom of the out-of-touch nature of the movie industry. Everyone knows cinema is in worse shape than it should be.
Great art has staying power, and only one film this year is immortal.
Yep. Every other film people will forget about in Tminus 2 minutes
Another fantastic video! Thanks!
DUNE 2 CMONN!!
Yep 🥲
It's a sequel like two towers. It won't win or none at all because of the Return of the King effect. Messiah will do it, or not. 😬.
We have the same 10. I'm fairly confident we've got this correct, Austin 👌 It's really a shame that Sing Sing hasn't been getting as much love from the awards crowd as it deserves. Yes - actor, actress, supporting actor and actress, please!
Those are the ten I have Austin right now. I will be paying close attention to the PGA Top 10 when it comes out & the BAFTA nominations to solidify things. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
Merry Christmas!
I hope Dune gets a nomination! Love the technical , music , cinematography and story! ❤
I'm worried about Sing Sing and Clarence Macklin. I haven't managed to watch all the other contenders yet but it's my favourite so far, and I don't really see any of the others overtaking it for me personally.

It's so funny...I agree with almost everything you bring to the table. I absolutely LOVED Emilia Perez. Never seen anything like it.
Jesse Eisenberg is star, writer, producer for A Real Pain. He's in for screenplay. But I don't think he's a big enough name to get a 2nd nod for Best Picture.
'Anora' and 'The Brutalist' are the front runners.

I have a feeling that "Challengers" make it in Best Picture TOP 10 and I feel like we're going to have a BIG SNUB in this category this year, well... next year. :)
A Real Pain might get in. AFI had them in their top 10. It is really that simple for me.
Yeah it’s possible
Hey Austin, why those nasty remarks on Gladiator 2 ? Like it's weird it's getting some noms but not a movie like Wicked ??
Nasty? Lol
I liked Gladiator 2, but it isn’t remotely a best picture contender right now. I was essentially saying since it isn’t even being talked about, that list shouldn’t be taken as a definitive best picture prediction-barometer. That’s it. Nothin nasty lol
@@AustinBurke lol no, I know what you're saying. Just you say it too many times, it looks like you're having something against it.
I disagree. I think I worded that properly, and anyone who has seen my review knows I like it. But even if I didn’t, why does it matter? This is a channel about movie opinions. We’re allowed to dislike things.
@@AustinBurke Hey Austin, don't take it bad. I meant no disrespect. I like your vids.
Dont apologize
You’re good
All opinions welcomed!
AYYY, YATSO!
Rooting for Mikey Madison to win Best Actress
Im still here! Let’s do it academy.
It’s better than a lot of what’s actually in the lineup
Look at the IMDb score
I’ve seen it
Thought it was great!
Prefer it over quite a few of these
I don’t know where did you get that from, there’s zero push against Anora. Anora is winning absolutely everything in the critics circles, there was way more pushback against EEAAO. The Brutalist is an almost 4 hour film that voters will watch at home and struggle to finish because most of them are lazy, and Anora will be top 3 in most ballots.
Bro..!
Plz watch Maharaja movie
Yup! Get working on other categories.
You got it.
The Brutalist, Conclave, Anora, Wicked, Emilia Pérez, Sing Sing, a Real Pain, A Complete Unknown, Nickel Boys, Dune2…….no for The Substance, Gladiator2,
Has everyone forgotten about dune 2??!!
Apparently!
All we Imagine is Light is a masterpiece, Go see it everyone !
movie I’ve seen in your top 10 dune 2 I didn’t think it was that great. My favorite so far in 2024 don’t think it’ll win anything Civil War can you talk about best foreign films? Your next video.
I’ll definitely hit on foreign films before the noms come out. I’ve seen all the ones I think will be nominated, and I love a few of them
HM: The Beekeeper
Dang I forgot, thank you
Dune disrespect is crazy
Agreed
I think it’s kinda funny that Duneheads are disliking Emilia Perez so much because Denis himself said he thinks it’s one of the better movies of the year. I’m not that big of a fan of Emilia Perez either, but it’s pretty amusing that Denis loves it
I LOVE Denis as a filmmaker!
But I do not give af if he likes that movie or not haha, or any movie for that matter
MADAME WEB for best picture and Sydney Sweeney for best supporting actress. Easily.
This is true
I have failed you
Anora for best picture please
Where’s Madam Web?
Shoot I forgot
Nosferatu doesn't have a shot? I recently saw Real Pain and thought it was great.
Unfortunately no
Although I wish it did!
Emilia Perez, Anora and the brutalist are top three
Anora’s backlash feels like it’s coming from a tiny minority of people who do not work in the industry and are not academy voters.
Best actress is toss up between Cynthia and Jolie, best director will be keenly watched no clear winner their, Arina will win best supporting female
you’re loud and wrong
So baffled by these choices.
We all SO dont agree.
Wicked is going to win
I have faith in the Dow Jones going to $100K but The Substance getting nominated and winning Beat Picture i do not.
Winning? No
But I think it gets in
We have the same top 10 on Awards Watch.
I was just as annoyed by Emilia Perez as you were…yet I get the appeal. But I hated Nickel Boys. Hated its film school condescending style. Not one authentic moment or character reaction.
The past 20 years have been the worst best picture nominations I've seen in a long time.
I would say they got it right last year. Oppenheimer was far and away the best movie, and they (finally) nailed it.
@AustinBurke I agree. Oppenheimer was a good film but overall the quality has dropped the last several years. Maybe not very many great actors now.
No Nosferatu?? 😮
Unfortunately… it’s not getting in
The Brutalist is an american masterpiece. I rarely seen a film like this anymore. I hope it wins best picture.
Faith in humanity should’ve been lost long ago if ever. 😅
Yup
MIKEY MADISON IS A REVELATION. NUFF SAID.
Anora doesnt feel like a best picture winner
conclave, the substance and emilia perez were the best of the year
anora and brutalist and wicked are okay
dune should not be there
Stop that 😂
Watch Wicked dominate in a similar way Chicago did. It checks all the boxes.
You’re not wrong
You Online film bros don’t know what’s coming. Emilia Perez is going to sweep
I needed a good throw up this morning, thanks
Ive taking craps that smell better then that movie.
Just started but I’m sure he’ll mention Dune part 2, Challengers and Wicked
Emilia Perez sucks why is it getting so much buzz?
Challengers deserved more
Yes it did
If Wicked wins best picture I am done with the Oscars totally
I'm glad i don't watch these modern movies. They are crap.
Yeah but… you don’t watch them, so how do you know? Lol
I can’t trust that opinion if you haven’t watched them
I think “The Brutalist” won’t win for best picture because young Oscar voters would not want to watch a three and a half hour movie.
Also, it is not a great movie.
I see 100 theatrical releases each year.
Unwatchable.
Walkout bad.
@ Oh well, to each their own. There’s no accounting for taste.
@@Tricki_Woo
Right back at you.
@@JamesElliott-ne9rg Na! I don’t think so. I like the movie.. You’re the curmudgeon one. So, you have the sole ownership of that feeling.
“I see 100 theatrical releases each year”
I’m gonna chalk that one up to a “nahhhh” 😂
Who cares
Your mom cares
