- Meet Honey Drops, a rescue bunny we received from a Sydney council pound after being rescued from under a house, being attacked by dogs. Watch to the end to see her incredible transformation! A huge thank you to "PetStock Vets Dural" and The Rabbit Sanctuary veterinarian Dr Marjorie for helping little Honey Drops. Dr Marjorie offers us insights on the dreadful problem of fly strike and maggots in rabbits. This video shows also the importance of checking your bunny frequently and keeping the fur free from matting.

Thank goodness for people like this that give me faith back in mankind. I tend to loose it when I hear people dumping rabbits, and other animals. They do so much for us humans and ask such little in return.

Oh my goodness. What a terrible story but such a great and very positive ending!! If I lived closer I would love to adopt her but unfortunately I am in Melbourne 🥺 I hope she goes to the most incredible home where she is spoiled like the queen she is! What a beautiful girl. Thank You for rescuing her, she would have died if you hadn't. Was she someone's pet?? Some ignorant people will put a rabbit in the wild when they no longer want the rabbit. NOT good, it's a domesticated animal. Just take it to the humane society. Oh so happy for dear Honey Drops !!

Horrible way those people treated that poor sweet bunny. So glad she's better and has a good life now. Great people and the Vets helping her to get better. Lop ears are the best. I;m in the USA or I would adopt her in a heartbeat. A wonderful sweetheart rabbit.
Thankfully this lovely bunny recovered. There is no chance for a body to cure such disgusting infections on it´s own without help.
My first bunny was very docile like this, but she was treated like a Queen. It is so sad to see the extent of the neglect this poor little cutie suffered. It should be illegal to abandon animals or to neglect them! My rabbit died of cancer, but we did everything possible to help her. It was obvious she was on her way out and my mum did not take her to the vets after the 3rd time because she knew the vet would have to put her down. She died in comfort though, and she had a long life and a happy life at that! I used to hand feed her dandelions that I grew for her, the guinea pigs and my sisters rabbit. I used to snuggle up to her in my bed and she would sleep with me. I used to stroke her neck because her fur was so soft and clean. She wasn't just a pet, she was a best friend too! She live 2 years more then her expectation and only died because she got cancer!

Very unfortunate that this has to happen to so many animals, not just rabbits. But really had to stop watching at "Kiss, kiss, kiss" Glad you all could turn this rabbits life around. Wish I could do more to help.
How amazing that she would sit still for pets while matted and injured like that!! Maybe she escaped from someone who had loved her and handled her. Poor lovey

Awww poor Honey. I'm glad she has a wonderful foster carer and is living a better life now. I'm looking to move soon and if she still hasn't been adopted I'd love to adopt her into my life, as I've been looking into adopting a rabbit at some point.

As i have a beautiful Angora rabbit house pet the tears were rolling off my chin with this story. How can people be so cruel ! How was she found ? If she was a dog it would be a criminal offense right ? Why are rabbits treated as throw away garbbage ? I just found out that most animal shelters have unloved rabbits that just to much

Keep doing amazing care! I only adopt rescues. Our youngest has turned out to be our 1st giant breed. I've had buns for 26 years of my life. I need them as much as they need me and my family.

It makes me so mad when people have their dogs (and cats) outside able to mess with other animals. Especially with dogs, they should be trained to be calm around other animals. My pups are relaxed with bunnies, cats, pretty much everything that they meet. People that cannot care and train for their animals should not be owning them. That being said, I’m from the states and am aware that the feral dog and cat situation is beyond out of control in Australia. I take meloxicam for my autoimmune issues, it’s an amazing drug and I didn’t know it could be used on animals.

I just purchased a bunny that looks identical... And Guess What. She had Matt's all over her. I did insist on the girl who was a backyard breader to sell her to me at half price, because I was gunna need to invest a lot in grooming needs. When I brought her home my daughter was pleased, but we got straight away at giving her a bath. I know I know baths are generally fround apont, but my intuition told me conditioner would help. It did for the fur that was on the top and when I towel dried her I was able to use a mini brush on her. But WHAT DO I DO ABOUT THE MATS ON HER BELLY AND SIDES... I'm not a vet, but she does not have wounds or flees. Please get back to me on this .. also I feel inspired to also make a video on my channel about my two beautiful bunnies aswell as this situation with my 4 months old with terrible matting.
In hopes of bringing awareness to this aswell as UN EDUCATED BACKYARD BREADER. Literally the bunnies lived in a durt backyard. Not one lick of grass smh
Our rabbit was recovering nicely from flystrike after receiving all the relevant treatments from our vet, and everything looked promising. Then yesterday we found her flopped down in her temporary pen, she had passed away, we are absolutely devastated and so confused as to why this has happened when she was recovering and doing so well?

For any maggot you find on the surface, there are far more inside and it is deadly unless treatment immediately.
How did you get the tight matts off her body? Did you use scissors or clippers?

but the vet said keep her in a try environment and the next clip she was in a wet/damp garden outside where bugs were 👀
Dogs hunting bunnos = nature.
But alot of times, you see dogs just kill other animals and then not eat it, which is sick, even for animals.
Nothing should kill for fun, they and humans should only kill for defense or food.

so I am 14 and I want to stop breeding rabbits as I have been outside. I want to spay and neuter the rabbits I have left and rehome all but one male because he has turned into my emotional support animal. but I live near Shreveport Louisiana and I can't find a rabbit shelter near me and I can't afford to fix all of my rabbits. do you have any tips for me?

My bunny got bit and i never notcied and shes super fluffy so i didnt see it unril i was drying her off and there were maggots and i soaked the area in antibacterial soap and but a treatment on it shes just 4 weeks old

Do they ever WASH these bunnies? It sure looks like they need it, what with flystrike infections and all! It CAN'T be healthy not to submerge them up to the neck in antibacterial solutions and water! Maybe use dry shampoo to wash their little heads and faces?

Shave her, don't cut her fur,the skin can be knotted in the matts

I am so grateful that you found Honey and am amazed at her transformation! I am shocked and horrified at how bad her matted hair and fly strike was being so young! 🤬 she must have not been touched since a teeny baby! Then thrown out to manage on her own!
