This IS a SuG IV, in 2006, prior to the recovery in 2008 shown here, they managed to recover the superstructure with the cannon. BTW the vehicle was completely restored and can now move on its own thanks to the efforts of technicians from the Museum of Armored Vehicles of the Polish Army Armored Unit Training Center. The staffers are the organizers of this operation. Just watch other movies on the same account - the b&w gryphon at start is the coat of arms of the center and the museum.

Have visited the sites of the Eastern Front Battlefields on numerous occaisions and what does strike you is the expanse of them. Some of these battles were fought in areas where there was no inhabitants and vehicles were left abandoned and forgotten for years so am never surprised when you see a Panzer or a T34 being dragged out of a swamp after narly a century....amazing!!!!
This is being called a StuG IV. The entire superstructure is missing, this could be a panzer IV G or H or it could be a Flak Panzer either Ostwind, Wirbelwind or Mobelwagen. (My deduction as to the version of possible tanks is based on the drive sprocket.) Any ammo rounds found on board would help narrow this down. The Panzer IV & StuG IV used the same ammo though. Cool find!

Everything in soil in Poland is property of Polish state. If you try to sold it you are making a crime ..so you will be chased, prosecuted and punished by law and court. Wow! I can't believe it's in such good condition after being submerged in water for 6+ decades. The chassis looks like it can still function. German engineering at its finest.
Dont forget Mr Smith ,Allied bombing destroyed the Alkett factory that produced the Stug 3 ,In desperation the Germans placed the Stug upper compartment to the panzer 4 chassis ,extended transmission plate ,drivers compartment hatch /well , The panzer 3 lower chassis was shorter than the PZKPFW 4 hull so that is why you see the extended trans plate. The upper side plates on the stug 3 upper hull didn't match the panzer 4 lower hull also,so a steel plate was also added as there was a large shot trap gap near the fenders, The stug iv was a hybrid caused by necessity . Top of the hull probably flew off when the SPG was destroyed ,if she was full of ammo when knocked out or scuttled to prevent use by the enemy.
John Smith it was recovered earlier... broke during recovery atmept but later...check this one. This is the same vehicle th-cam.com/video/KXAKNC_yZYs/w-d-xo.html
Tak, górną część wydobyto w sierpniu 2006 r.Nie była to pierwsza próba, gdyż próbowano już go wydobyć w lecie 1956roku kiedy to koryto rzeki w tym miejscu było szersze.
Interesting video, although we've all seen many other recoveries of far better preserved Tanks etc. This opens the question as to where the Gun, mount and upper superstructure went, I presume that it offered some danger to passing boats and was simply cut off and raised for scrap at some earlier time after the war ended.? Good to see that those wheel bearings moved freely after so many years in the water, I hope they weren't trying to jump start it by dragging it up and down that field. German engineering maybe good, but there's a limit as to how good :-)

still missing the upper hull, and no damage to lower hull, that's why I suggested an ammunition carrier (a farghestalle). the germans used open topped hulls like this to deliver ammo to frontline units that would pull back to a semi protected area ( and not have to leave the battle to go to a rear echelon ammo dump to reload)
