Saws take a lot of time and practice to know exactly whats gonna happen. It comes natrually. Been running a saw for 2 years now and I still make mistakes. You did really well for your first time!

Make sure to relax too, the saw is dangerous but you got safety gear and you're following good practices

hey man im about to be in the same line of work you’re in right now I got my pack test on September 10th I’ve dropped from 270 to 240 in 3 months learned how to use the chainsaw in training and im just really curious how your bar and chain came off there i noticed it wasn’t cutting into the wood

Well done, man! My guess for the bar and chain disassembling, is that I didn’t check beforehand to scrench the plate back in place. It could’ve been loose. Or, the chainsaw took massive vibration from me getting the bar stuck in the lumber

@@brandonbudshores hey man at least now you know before hand to check your saw before you go to cutting and if you see anything wrong ask your crew boss or if you’re unsure of anything this is a very good experience to go through happens to everybody id say a few times

@@MatthewHandshoe I've never had that happen to me, but have had the oiler cap or fuel cap vibrate off a couple of times I'm not a logger but have been cutting firewood since I was 16 I'm 59 now. but lesson learned when ya put the bar back on ya saw make sure you tighten the bar nuts after you adjust ya chain oh and make sure ya fuel and oiler caps are tight.

@MatthewHandshoe You’re right man, this was a lesson I could use for improvement. I’ll def make sure to do that from now on lol. I was embarrassed to say the least, with experienced fellers watching. Feller 1 & 2. They were cool about it and offered tips

@b.p.rwebber8098 absolutely, a lesson learned. Noted, make sure to tighten the oiler and fuel cap. Thanks!

That bar coming off was probably for the better. The "trainer" needs to be more instructive! It's clear the operator needs more feedback on saw operations.
