    Which one would you go for - the iPad or the Pixel Tablet? And, why?

      iPad ALL the way. Until the mainstream apps in the Google Play Store are optimized for a tablet, I’ll be sticking with the iPad. The only other thing I worry about is Google dropping the tablet all together since the iPad is the leader in the tablet market.

      May 2024 Update Question: For use with work, teams calls, outlook, word/excel and some drafting and floor planning apps, I currently have a first gen (2017) iPad pro 10.5 and came across a pixel tablet brand new, which one should I keep and continue to work with. Already have an iPhone for personal use and android pixel 6 for my work phone. Could use some advice.

    Nice video Mark...one thing though the Pixel Tablet can use a USI 2.0 pen.

  • @et1965
    @et1965 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    The Pixel tablet supports all USI 2.0 so any USI stylus can be used with it. At 6:30 you seem to indicate it cannot be used with a stylus. So the point of difference, is the third party screen protector??

    Only issue I can see is Google dropping the pixel tablet at some point which is the usual trend of Google.

    I stopped using my ipad daily when I got the Pixel tablet. The pixel is quicker than my old iPad pro and does everything I want from my tablet, so for me it's better but I'm sure the current ludicrously priced ipad pro is better in many ways than the pixel. I prefer android to ios too. I couldn't care less about the cameras, I wouldn't even notice if it didn't have one.
    This is my preference, yours may vary and you will be as correct as me.

    Great review. For the price Apple demands for the 10th Gen iPad, it should have a laminated display but doesn’t. To me that’s taking the absolute p*ss.

    Can the Pixel tablet be charged without the speaker base? I would like to use it in my Jeep with Gaia maps, and OnX Offroad, and pair it with my Google phone.

    I've been using the iPad Air 4 for the past 2 years and its been good. The only thing I hate about it is the horrible black levels while watching video. I saw a Pixel Tablet demo in the store recently and I was blown away by how much better the screen was vs the Air 4. Heavily debating selling the iPad and getting this Pixel Tablet.

    I just bought the Pixel Tablet. The stand is genius and I hope will lead to wireless charging for all tablets. I can't tell you how many times I used to forgot to plug in the usb cable and end up with a discharged tablet.

    Still going with the iPad - More capable processor, more tablet optimized apps and years of support. While the Pixel Tablet looks nice right now for what it is, Google’s half hearted approach in everything it does scares me. They could abandon this product line tomorrow and no one would complain because that’s just what Google does. Any of the Samsung Tab S7 or S8 tabs would probably give you more mileage. Not to mention the S9 tabs might even get announced tomorrow so you can probably nab the S7/S8 with some sweet discounts right after the keynote.

    how will you use the pixel more because it has the dock and iscalways charged?
    I use my tablet holding it in my hand...when its time to charge i connect the usb charger and continue using it.
    Pixel ? Its a bit difficult holding the dock and tablet when it needs charging. You have to put ypur tablet away on the dock and wait for it to charge up ....
    I didnt see a charger option directly to the usb of pixel?

    Gas Monkey t-shirt. We need to hear a line like "If we don't get this review complete in the next 5 hours then we lose the studio." 😁
    Another great comparison Mark. I really like the Pixel tablets, but after having been burned by Google and other Android hardware developers from 2010 through 2015, I gave up on Google's eco system and started saving money by purchasing Apple hardware. My first Android tablet was used for 14 months when it went out of support. The iPad Air 2 that I bought in 2015 as a replacement is still being used everyday as a part of my workflow. Kudos to Apple for letting their hardware work so long with proper support. In fact, I am looking at potentially going with a base iPad to replace the function of the old iPad Air2, but then again, if that old tablet still works, don't mess with it because I might break things.

    Depends on what you want to do with a tablet. I do "music production" on my PC and iPad pro and I'd say ~ 99% of app developers (devs) code their music apps (standard is Auv3) for the iPad. I'm not suggesting that Auv3's don't eventually get ported over to Android but the majority of Auv3's are specific to i0s. Like anything its an investment.

    I prefer iPad OS over Android on tablets. I think iPad OS is fine for the iPad 10, Mini and Air, but it is really crap for the iPad Pro, especially the large screen model. I think Chrome OS provides a better tablet experience than Android, partly because it includes both Android and Linux virtual containers plus offers a full desktop browser experience, especially important with the increasing use of Web Apps ... which Safari is so bad at. I live in Apple, Google and Microsoft (and to a much lesser extent, Amazon!) ecosystems! I agree Apple's is the most advance and seamless (when works ... but when it doesn't it can be hell to sort out, short of resetting every Apple device in your ecosystem ... Home App being a case in point until Apple's recent upgrade / fix), but Google and Microsoft are slowly catching up. The Google Pixel tablet like many touch screen / "2 in 1" / tablet Chrome Books, supports USI 2.0 stylus (its listed under Google Pixel Tablet display specification after you expand the bullet) and you can scribe and draw in applications such as Keep, Google's equivalent of Apple Notes. USI 2.0 stylus supports pressure sensitivity. The Google Pixel tablet wouldn't replace my iPad Mini, but it would replace both my Small LCD TV and Amazon Echo Show 8 in my kitchen, and would also be able to access my home's Nest Thermostat etc.

  • @KoldSteel1990
    @KoldSteel1990 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why do so many reviewers not mention the USI stylus support and say it doesn't support anything? So annoying, I have a pixel tablet and a USI pen from Penoval and the writing experience is better than the iPad 10th gen in my opinion!

    You sound woefully uninformed when you open your vid with those moronic statements about the ipad. ANY Surface Pro beats the hell out of the ipad's. It's a full computer, while the ipads are not. Ipad's are also limited by CRapple's ecosystem, which holds your media for ransom. So you lost me as a viewer right from the start. But to make a final point, the Pixel is better because of it's multitasking, speaker doc base and it's smart home hub functions.

    • @MarkEllisReviews
      @MarkEllisReviews  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think it's probably best I lost you as a viewer, mate. Not convinced you'd like the video I'm publishing today where I gush until I'm blue in the face about the iPad. You'll probably still watch it though, won't you?
      (your secret is safe with me 😉)

    • @AquaStevae
      @AquaStevae หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MarkEllisReviews Yes, because the best logic for a YT'er is to lose viewers... Brilliant! But exactly what I expect from an "i"idiot CRapple fanboy. I didn't even finish more than a few moments of the video I commented on, so why would I ever watch another one??? I'm only answering this because of notifications. Any "i"idiot who has a channel, isn't worth the time to click on it. I was searching for Pixel Tablet vids, and yours was just one in the line. So a few seconds out of my life, where I was infected by your stupidity, gushing about CRapple products. Not a worry. It's like listening to the liberals telling us all year how Trump was going to lose, and how great Kamala was. You are very much akin to those morons, and I take what you say just about as seriously as I do their sentiments, which is to say, not at all.

    An iPad offers limited connectivity with my Pixel/Android phone, so it makes zero sense to get one. Why any Android user will pay money to buy a product its own maker limits its features when you're using it. Also, you don't get the base free of charge. It's included in the price. The Pixel Tablet would cost stand-alone, probably around 100-150 GBP less and then would be no comparison to the iPad in terms of price.

    • @_Digitalguy
      @_Digitalguy ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a Samsung phone and no intention to get an iPhone but I still prefer iPads and the main reason is better hardware and some pro apps that only exist for iPad (but the first reason is the most important, the aspect ratio is better for me, and the hand rejection is much better)

    • @FCisThePunisher
      @FCisThePunisher ปีที่แล้ว

      @@_Digitalguy, and that's fair enough if you need specific software, you get the tablet that has it. But for me, I cannot instantly copy-page between my phone and the iPad, I cannot take share files instantly, I cannot take a photo on my phone and have it instantly on my tablet, I don't have instant access to all the Google software I use on my phone etc (and vice versa with an iPhone and an iPad).

    • @_Digitalguy
      @_Digitalguy ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FCisThePunisher I know, and I also have Android tablets (but more iPads). Personally, I have 2TB with dropbox that syncs files and photos instantly between devices and I use sendanywhere to trasnfer files (not as convenient as nearby share or quick share, but it works). So there are workarounds, but if you only have to have 1 tablet then yes and Android makes more sense (I have many so it's less of an issue)
