Thank you so much for watching. We moved out shortly after I recorded this video - we definitely wouldn't have moved out if it wasn't for the noise issue.
lol, we are neighbors, I am right down the street at CBD Angkor. This area is defiantly as convenient as it gets to Pub Street and the surrounding entertainment area. I came as a tourist and am so impressed with the people, culture and history of this lovely little town and country I will be making a boarder run in a week and a half for my E Visa so I can return and get a 12 month ER Visa. Hopefully I will see you guys out there someday. Thanks for all the great content you regularly provide it has been very helpful.
Oh yeah! Do you go to Sambo sometimes? Such a lovely lady who runs that place. It's a busy area so can definitely be noisy. Great that you are going to stay for a while - there's so much to do in Siem Reap! Thanks so much for watching.
@@ForRiel Yes I do, it's a great little restaurant. I hear you on the club noise it surprised me they play that often and late in a mostly residential/hotel area.

Great apartment tour Claire. Sounds like it would have been perfect except for the noise. Very decent of the landlord to return your bond. Hope you find another place that is more quiet soon.
Thanks Peter! We found a new place that is very quiet but still very central so I think we will be very happy there. Bonus is that it's less expensive, too! 🙏🏠🏘🏩💒🏠🏘🏩💒🙏
Hi Claire and Jeb, yes what a lovely and functional apartment,...and so many power points.....that point was not lost on me. Sure your next place will be great.. Take care, and thanks so much for the tour
thanks Claire for sharing your story , fortunate that your landlord was a cool guy in australia the cost of housing is ridiculous and in short supply , $500 AUD for a week and not furnished , thats if you get past all the checks and scrutiny people have to endure i can see why the charm of the Cambodian people and culture is so welcome after living in different western countries
Yeah the situation in Australia is pretty crazy. We own a couple of rental properties but refuse to play the game of squeezing tenants for more money all the time. We commit to not putting the rent up while there is a sitting tenant, and we did not take extra money from an applicant who offered to pay $30 a week above the asking price. We accepted their application but declined the extra money. It's just wrong the things that are going on in Australia right now.
Sorry it didn’t work out for you, but I’ll check when I arrive next weekend and see if it’s still available. I’m a musician hoping to pick up a gig, so the noise won’t bother me. Thanks for all your videos.
It was so loud! The music itself was fine, and not offensive at all, just an issue with the volume and the fact that it went until midnight each night. Thanks so much for watching.
Shame about the noise, the apartment looked really nice. Kudos to the landlord, typically moving out early would forfeit the deposit. I trust you've found a new place to live already, does it mean we'll get another apartment tour soon? 😄
It was very decent of him to refund half of the deposit. We didn't expect that and it was a welcome surprise. We will make a tour of the other apartment soon!
Yes, Wild the spring roll place! We LOVE their food - the caesar salad ones are my favourite. In fact I have never tried the others because I love those ones so much. See you in April!

Wow, that looks like an amazing deal for the money & a fairly ideal location (close to Pub Street but not too close). Sorry that it didn't work out but good that the landlord is not behaving too much like a landlord.

Yeah it was a real shame about the noise, but I guess it comes with the location in a lot of ways. We are happy with the new place. Thanks for watching!
Just watched your video about your apartment in Kampot and this one. This one seems much better than the one in Kampot. A bit more expensive, but much nicer in my opinion . The washing machine is almost worth the extra by itself! I really couldn’t deal with hand washing my clothes in a bucket! I did that for a while about 30 years ago…Never again! Pity about the noise from the pub though…The studio unit for $160 looks nice. Great videos! Many thanks!
Yes, you're right. There is nowhere near as much stock in Kampot as there is in Siem Reap, and there is still a lot of vacancy in Siem Reap so there are good deals to be had. These things make the divide much more evident. Living without a washing machine was not fun, I must say, but I did really enjoy our time in Kampot. We have found a new place in Siem Reap and we are very happy with it. Thanks for watching.
This noise issue is very difficult to judge beforehand. The restaurant or bar is something that propped up later but I have faced noisy neighbours and construction or renovation activities which is also very irritating

Very nice apartment. Thank you for giving us a tour. One question that is a little off topic: Can anyone (from an approved country, of course) get the ordinary visa (E-class) or would they need to prove a business purpose for them to be there?
Ah it's a tricky one because it's supposed to be open to anyone, but the reality is that people from the African continent generally have difficulties. Join the Visa and Work Permit Group on Facebook and read about people's experiences there. If you are from elsewhere, it is usually easy to get the E visa, and no need to provide evidence of purpose because the E visa is the stem for looking for work, business, and retirement extensions.

Best idea is to join the Facebook groups and also make contact with IPS - they will ask about your requirements and budget and take you around to see places that fit. All you have to do is choose one and move it. You could also just stay in a hotel long term rather than getting an apartment but that depends how long you will stay.
Oh, i so understand. I lived in a quiet street in Bangkok...... until they opened a karaoke bar across the street with loud and bad singing drunk Thais.
Yeah it was such a shame as the location was excellent in terms of being able to walk to lots of restaurants and bars in the evening. We found a new place that is quiet.... so far!
I would not advise to show the outside of your appartment...in hindsight. The kitchens are very poorly equipped here compared to Vietnam. Cabinets in the bottom area are not really convienient. Many apartments don't even have cabinets here 😪
You'd be appalled that I don't know the difference between an oven or a stove either. I only pass through the kitchen. No meaningful relationship with it.
At first when she kept saying PowerPoint I was like what is she talking about? Like Microsoft powerpoint? I was like, why is she talking about spreadsheet? Lol she meant an power outlet
Beautiful place very good price such a shame but I'm sure the next home would be just as nice, if not any better (it's already perfect). Also if possible, consider a place when you first enter is the living room. Not going through kitchen or even bedroom first. It's just an Asian superstition thing. They say a kitchen or bedroom first home will have negative effect on health and career. Of course, only if you believe in those 😅😅 But then again it's more about the chi or air flow / circulation than any hocus-pocus crazy thing. None of that ✌😊 The right amount of sunlight and "air flow" makes an even more pleasant living 🌻
Thanks so much Philip! Our new place also has the entry through the kitchen, but it doesn't bother us because we often have things that we want to drop off there on the way in. I think light and air flow are really important and our new place has both of those things. Thanks so much for watching.

Something like this would be a whopping 2k dollar in "1st world" cities like San Francisco LOL!
I know! The standard of this apartment is really good and the decor nice and neutral.
Many apartments don't even have cabinets here 😪
We never do until we leave.
That's NOT a "range".
That's a non exhaust kitchen fan over the range.

We call them power points in Australia 🇦🇺 never power outlets 🤔
Beautiful place very good price such a shame but I'm sure the next home would be just as nice, if not any better (it's already perfect). Also if possible, consider a place when you first enter is the living room. Not going through kitchen or even bedroom first. It's just an Asian superstition thing. They say a kitchen or bedroom first home will have negative effect on health and career. Of course, only if you believe in those 😅😅
But then again it's more about the chi or air flow / circulation than any hocus-pocus crazy thing. None of that ✌😊
The right amount of sunlight and "air flow" makes an even more pleasant living 🌻
Thanks so much Philip! Our new place also has the entry through the kitchen, but it doesn't bother us because we often have things that we want to drop off there on the way in. I think light and air flow are really important and our new place has both of those things. Thanks so much for watching.
@@ForRiel so excited for your next video! Hopefully more adventure vlog as well 👍👍😀❤🙏
IAM PAYING $600 FOR >>MUCH LESS
Oh really? Do you live in the Nimman area? At least you have lovely Thai food in Chiang Mai. :)
The philipins olso getting noisier , sorry to hear !
That's interesting. I hope it doesn't stay that way.
I see that Black Sea restaurant is bothering you 😌
Yeah Black Sea is LOUD!
I will be visiting Siem Reap for a month, could I rent it for a month? I will be in Siem Reap on the 27th.
I think they only do 6 or 12 months. You could easily stay in a hotel for a month - there's plenty that offer this.
