I love this series, the little "space monkeys" are cool and I really like the idea of space trains. There's a series of science fiction books by author Philip Reeves called the Railhead trilogy, they're about a really weird far future where humanity abandoned Earth long ago when they found there's a network of space trains that can take them all over the galaxy. The mystery of who built these train lines and why is one of the questions the books are about, as well as things like what makes a person a person, why stealing is never worth it, and why you should turn down offers that seem too good to be true.
