What's cool about these impact frames are that they are just black and white frames but somehow our brains blend the impact frames with the others perfectly
That's why Animation is Art. Knowing how to twist colors and what colors to use so that the viewer isn't overwhelmed and captures it as best as they can even down to the spilt second impact frames. It's why these shows can't be replicated.
@@Epicvibes999 what he meant to say is contrast. Impact frames don't need to display only black and white to get the job done. Some animators stick to just B&w but alot of the times, high contrast colors work to great effect as well, as shown on some cuts in this very video.

This can be as simple as somebody taking a heavy step, when their foot hits the ground and the screen shakes is the impact frames, and the rocks flying up around them or the pavement cracking beneath them is the "release" frames.
5:10 this one's my favorite, it's the most impactful punch I've ever seen! Gogeta's arm foreshortens so much that it looks like a needle stabbing into Broly's gut.
GOD i friggin love this movie. Watching these frame by frame moments for the impact frames also show the huge amount of work spent on the details, in particular on the ssj Gogeta vs ssj Broly fight... Gogeta blocking some attacks but still feeling the weight of Broly's blows... So good.
I wish Onishi would return to One Piece, his work on Broly and Toei in general is on another level. I wonder what he’s up to these days ever since Digimon and World Trigger’s production ended. Did he freelance to other studios? Almost forgot Naoki Tate has been under the shadows for a long while now too.

One thing that nobody talks about is how in this movie they showed that all the other ssj transformations is a variation of the green ssj Broly, like 0:26 vegeta hair turns green before turning golden. Goku also have this transition but wasn't shown in this video.
Today I Learned: Gogeta just headbutts an entire breath out of Broly when he first attacks him in Super Saiyan. (Please tell me i’m not the only one who’s seeing it clearly for the first time.)
