We eat healthier than we ever have, don't have the stress of trying to plan out meals for the week, and only spend about $60 a week on groceries on average. Our meals come out to about $3 per serving, even factoring in the subscription price! A big shout-out to the creator of Clean Monday Meals, Janae, for coming up with the meals and grocery lists every week and for helping us simplify our lives and save money!

I shopped in store for the week and when I got home I re-created everything I had bought at the store as an online pick-up order. Turns out everything was priced an average of 18% more when using their pick-up service. Most people would never notice, but I tested it!

Guys and gals, George IS correct.. just the savings on NOT paying the restaurant's labor (AND overhead) costs.. let alone helping the restaurant add SOME profit to the "bottom line".. is well worth the effort. We save enough every week to enjoy a nice dinner out.. and brunch on Sunday with friends.. and still have budget left over! Shop at Wal Mart - and Sam's club in bulk - and save even more!

Family of 5 here - Our dinners at home are less than $10 total for the whole family. Our breakfast and lunch are even less. Cost per meal maths should be taught in school.

There are soooo many cheap options (even with fast food).. Go to taco bell and get a couple $1.10 burritos for lunch. Drink water not sodas. Cheap weekly foods/meals are, stir fry (like he said), spaghetti, beans and rice, frozen vegetables with a protein source, PB and J, avocado on toast, the list goes on and on

We run crockpots like crazy to have good home cooked meals. One staple from the pantry is bean soup cooked with ham and corn bread made for a side with it.

I really like souper cubes for freezing meals like soup or chili. I use vacuum sealer once the cubes are frozen. Julie Pacheco on here has lots of inexpensive meals to choose from too.

People don’t seem to understand the difference between a grocery bill and cost per meal.

The dinners that I cook for my family of five usually cost between 6 and $10 for the meal, so that’s usually between $1.45 and $2 a plate. Tonight I’m making chicken fried rice or maybe stew. The most expensive meal each week is typically the two frozen pizzas I pick up, because after my grocery run, I don’t have time to cook that night. I think many people just don’t know how to cook on a budget or they’ve made their lives so busy that they feel they have to sacrifice that time. I had been broke folk so I know what to do about it. Thankfully I’ve got plenty of margin now but those days taught me important lessons, like how to cook good food on a budget.

Spot on as usual George. The problem with our society in general is that it has always been (easier/safer/lazier whatever you want to call it) to do the wrong thing than it is to do the work on doing the right thing. A huge "THANKS" to George for trying to break through the negative thought process and reveal some great ideas to take forward for a better way of living. You're DA BOMB GEORGE!!!
