I don't know my great great great grand teacher wrote that many string quartets. What a discovery ! I thought he is only making us to work hard on the piano.
How can it be that Czerny was for so long reviled as a composer of both high opus numbers and high bogus numbers? All those terribly erudite musicologists who had for decades denigrated Czerny had clearly neither heard much of his music or were able to correctly read it from the scores. As one often experiences, they simply mimicked what they themselves had read about Czerny. Thanks for this...a genuine musical experience...well crafted, melodic and nicely played.
What a delightful quartet! Thank you so much. Do you know where I can get more information about Czernys Quartets? I had no idea he had composed so many and they seem not to be included in his opus list.
Thank you, I have acquired the quartets you mentioned and they are very good too but the notes are not specific about how many other quartets there are and when they were composed. I thought that you maybe had any further information.
Hi, thank you for your nice comment. There are nine surviving quartets, one in g-Minor edited with Amadeus Verlag in Winterthur (CH). I am preparing the edition of all eight more quartets with Amadeus. None of the quartets are available at imslp, because there were no contemporary editions. Just manuscript scores. Many greetings Markus Fleck
Captivating from beginning to end
Que música tan maravillosa ❤
Marvellous music! Czerny was really a great composer! Igor' Stravinskij considered him one of the best composers of the nineteenth century...

Nice to know that Czerny is related to you! And yes, he wrote a lot of more refined works other than his most famous piano studies

Much like Vivaldi, true gems drown when your Repertoire is so extensive.

I think there is one album of 4 Czerny quartets if you want to take a listen to them, as for the information, I guess IMSLP is a good place to start
