Next month, July, is also the 30th anniversary of my mother’s death. Daily prayers rises up to God for her eternal rest, peace and joy in heaven. “ Fear not…” Jesus gives us the confidence to live without fear. And Fr. Chris, thank you for advising us of the two things we have to do in order to remove our fear of death: 1) stay in a state of grace - get to confession 2) detach from the things in the world - nothing is ours. I’m profoundly grateful for all your homilies that would lead us safely to our final destination in heaven, Fr. Chris. The way is clear for us to follow, we must do our best to cooperate with peace, love and joy in our hearts, “Fear not.” Prayers for you, the MIC CONGREGATION, Marian family, the church, conversion of sinners and salvation of all souls. I guess that’s good practice for where my life is now. , I marvel, Father, Chris, how you have always been able to see the good that comes out of saddest events. I am so grateful for your openness about your priesthood, being the good that came from your grandmother’s death. It is such an incredibly valuable lesson and I’m so grateful for it. I’ve had a few “life changers” in my life, and you by example have encouraged me to find the good in those. May God bless you and I hope today you spend a lot of time smiling about happy early life moments you spent with Nick. Perhaps eat a favorite food or listen to a favorite song. Father Chris, I have heard you speak of Nick many times and always with joy and affection. How lucky he was to be blessed with a good friend like you who always had his back. Through your teachings, I have learned the importance of frequent confession and staying in a state of grace. Before I came back to my faith, I could not possibly see myself being separated from my “things“. Now, I realize that they are just “things“ and have no eternal value. I offer my intention of today’s mass for all of my deceased relatives - my dad, grandparents, aunts and uncles who have gone before me. May they all enjoy the loving embrace of our Merciful Father and pray for me from Heaven. God bless you, Fr Chris! 🙏

Beautifully said Tanya, as a my brother taught me “it’s only stuff”. I’ve discovered over the past few weeks that detaching from unimportant material things has aided me in learning how to make staying in a state of grace, and de emphasizing “stuff” a priority. He is a former Navy Seal and he is much beloved by his parishioners. It’s with great joy that I join you in offering the Holy sacrifice of the Mass for your best friend, Nick, Fr. Chris. Best friend is hard to find and difficult to forget, so I understand. Next month, July, is also the 30th anniversary of my mother’s death. Daily prayers rises up to God for her eternal rest, peace and joy in heaven.
“ Fear not…” Jesus gives us the confidence to live without fear. And Fr. Chris, thank you for advising us of the two things we have to do in order to remove our fear of death: 1) stay in a state of grace - get to confession
2) detach from the things in the world - nothing is ours. I’m profoundly grateful for all your homilies that would lead us safely to our final destination in heaven, Fr. Chris. The way is clear for us to follow, we must do our best to cooperate with peace, love and joy in our hearts, “Fear not.” Prayers for you, the MIC CONGREGATION, Marian family, the church, conversion of sinners and salvation of all souls. Thank you so much Father Chris for the very emotional homily. My heart goes out to you today as you speak of this terribly sad time of your life, ‘93-“94. In just 12 months you lost your beloved grandmother and best friend Nick. I am praying for them. I loved your closing advice about holding a person who meant the world to me in my heart. It’s a good reminder to pray for my brother Michael, who I lost three years ago. As 10 years, my senior, he always had my back. In death, he taught me how to detach from things. I guess that’s good practice for where my life is now.
, I marvel, Father, Chris, how you have always been able to see the good that comes out of saddest events. I am so grateful for your openness about your priesthood, being the good that came from your grandmother’s death. It is such an incredibly valuable lesson and I’m so grateful for it. I’ve had a few “life changers” in my life, and you by example have encouraged me to find the good in those. May God bless you and I hope today you spend a lot of time smiling about happy early life moments you spent with Nick. Perhaps eat a favorite food or listen to a favorite song. My brother was not a drinker except for good cognac so every year on his birthdayJan 30 I toast him and every year on his anniversary May 28 I eat D18 from the local Chinese takeout place and carrot cake. thank you Marian family for allowing me to share this I hope everyone has a blessed Sunday.
