Those of us in our 50s were so spoiled with great music from the 60s-90s. The 90s were the last great decade of music. Nothing this good since, IMO, and this song was one of the very best. Unforgettable.
So so glad our music peaked well before concert tix started being $300+ and everyone there watched it through their phone while recording for TikTok. We used to just be able to enjoy the moment
56 yo here. 90’s was my hay day. From first hear, Creep and Radiohead was legendary. Not many songs can wrap up the whole of the coming of age experience for the majority of humans so eloquently; with so few words; with haunting vocals ; and powerfully reserved music. Every box checked for a masterpiece. Thom Yorke has one of the most beautiful voices in the history of music. If you want more, FAKE PLASTIC TREES!
@ I entered my teens in the 80’s. The music of the 80’s will always be my favorite. But, in the 90’s, I was early college, just into my twenties and free to do what I wanted. So, the 90’s were the days of wild experiences… of which includes those that are discussed only in adult conversations and those that are not discussed at all! You could really say I was split decade… 1985 -1995. After that, life became serious and monotonous, requiring a shift in priorities and outlook.
Mollyboy, this is the perfect reaction to Creep. You get it. It was so enjoyable watching you be blown away. You are humble but knowledgable and I can feel how passionate you are about great music. Carry on, mate.
This was really an anthem for most of GenX when it came out.. the angst, the self-hatred, and just the hopelessness you can hear in his voice... so powerful
I'm a 36 year old woman and I've noticed this from the women who became mothers. A lot of them feel like people completely forget/ignore that they where a whole person before having children. My cousin used to be an artist and exhibition designer, but being a stay at home mum now, she felt like her individuality was slowly drained from her. She found a great outlet though: a group of mums that meet up, titled "girls
Yeah, I grew up listening to Rush, LED Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the Who Ect but when the 90’s rolled around, that music spoke to me. It sounded exactly how I felt. Now it’s my favorite era of music.
Good music stopped way before the 90s with a few exceptions like Radiohead. The breadth of musical quality across all styles was unsurpassed in the 60s and 70s, getting thinner and thinner until we have the dross that passes for popular music today. Can you imagine anyone wasting their time in 30/40 years doing a reaction channel to music from today?
I was born in 91, so I don't think I fully appreciated the 90s in the 90s. But, I would say that I spend all day, most every day, just listening to music. IMO the 60s and 70s were just absolutely magical. Then came the 80s. I absolutely hate 80s rock. Thats a bit of a blanket statement. But, its all glam rock, stadium rock and shit like that. Guns and Roses, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Kiss, Poison. All of that, coming off the heals of Zeppelin, The Who, Pink Floyd, The Stones, The Beatles, The Eagles, Skynryd, Van Halen, Hendrix, Allman Brothers, Cream, Clapton, the list is absolutely endless. Then the 80s is just such a disappointing follow up act. I wouldn't say the 90s is necessarilly as good as the 60s or 70s, but it was a perfect pallet cleanser. From that shit in the 80s to Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, REM, Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Greenday, Weezer, Oasis, STP, Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Hootie, Creed, Offspring, Sublime, Rage, again... iconic bands. Music has really sucked since the late 2000s tho. No idea what happened to all the bands. Im sure they exist. They just arent getting the fame and air play they deserve.
That loud-quiet-loud dynamic you are loving so much was pioneered by the Pixies in the late 80s and had a huge influence on the bands of the 90s. You should definitely check them out.
When this song first hit, it wasn’t immediately huge. I was at a bar with a girl I was friends with and we were waiting for our other friends to show when the DJ decided to play this song. I grabbed her hand and said “follow my lead, this is gonna be awesome.” So we hit the dance floor and started slow dancing and since the song was new, everyone else figured it must be a slow song all the way through so they did too. As we were dancing, I told my friend “after the verse, we are gonna rock out HARD”. We both had a beer or 5 in us already so she was game. When the chorus hit, we went nuts and everyone looked at us for a second like we were crazy, then just went with it too. The whole bar did that for the rest of the song and went apeshit cheering when it was over. High fives all around, we were the cool kids for a night. One of the coolest bar moments of my life. Thanks Radiohead! ❤🤘
This song is based on a real experience. Thom York (singer) was at uni, met a girl he liked. He wanted to ask her out, followed her around until one day he got drunk (to work up his courage, which didn’t work). He wrote this song about her. During a concert, she came in and he had to do this song, and was really embarrassed because he figured she knew the song was about her. There’s a better version of this on an MTV video. Radiohead came to hate this song, and refused to play it for a long time, but started again.
It's a simple story. He's a guy that's somehow gotten with some girl that he believes is an absolute angle, which it turn makes him feel that much more inadequate!! I think many of us have felt like this at some time in our lives. It's a feeling only love can give you. Great fucking song!!!
I can’t believe people are discovering Radiohead only now- I remember lining up for tickets in Australia back in the 1990s for my two boys who were at school. They are now in their 30s and Thom Yorke played solo concerts last week in Melbourne . My sons went to both concerts to see him perform again. He is great. I’ve also become a Radiohead fan.
Radiohead is just such a amazing band. They have such a large catalog of brilliant songs and I'm sure you will love anything you react to from them. Creep is just the perfect anthem for all of us who sometimes feel like we don't belong wherever we are. And by "all of us," I really mean all of us. EVERYBODY has felt this way at least once!
This song was released in 1992, a little past my time as far as new music went. By 92, I had begun listening to the Oldies Stations for my music. However, my son, who's 45 now, came home one day back in 92. "Mom, theres this great new song I want you to hear". It was Creep. I listened once without saying a word. When it was over I said "Play it again". I cried through it that time. My son began hugging me and saying "It's ok, Mom. Its ok." He was worriedly looking at me, not knowing what had happened. I looked up at him, and said, " that is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard, but its so sad." He said, "Well if I had known you'd react like that, I would have warned you." I smiled and asked "How would you have known?" There is a reaction for you. ❤ Strange how music and songs effect people. It is powerful. Great song, great reaction! Keep up the good work , MB.
This is one of those songs that really resonates with a lot of people. Still can't believe this is the same band that did "Karma Police" and "Paranoid Android."
Watching you fall in love with a song I've listened to and cried to and laughed to and been drunk to DOZENS if not HUNDREDS of times is really cathartic... I'm delighted you are experiencing it and hope it as impactful to you as it was to me... ❤, Gen X
Radiohead "Creep", R.E.M. "Losing My Religion" and "Everybody Hurts", Fools Garden "Lemon Tree", Soundgarden "Black Hole Sun", and 4 Non Blondes "What's Up" are the songs of my '90s. There are many other fantastic songs from that decade, but when I recall the '90s, these are 100% there.
Radiohead is one of the most creative bands in rock history. Creep was a perfect song meant for a one-hit wonder band. Radiohead took that one hit and changed everything, going from a post-grunge band doomed to obscurity to the premier art rock/prog rock band of the 2000s and 2010s. Their next album, The Bends is entirely underrated because the albums that follow are brilliant. But I would put The Bends up against anything the Beatles put out before Revolver and the Beach Boys put out before Pet Sounds. And after The Bends, Radiohead released OK Computer and Kid A, two albums that can compete with any album ever released.
One of my favorite songs that plays on repeat when I’m driving in my car!!! Fun fact: Johnny hated this song originally and during rehearsals Johnny slashed this cord trying to vent his dislike of it. A recording executive was in the studio next door and asked who is that? He then walked over to them and said can you do that louder? Creep was born right then and there…
The first time I heard about this song was on AGT. I then went and googled it, it blew my mind. BTW I’m a 65 year young woman. And I loved it. And they’re from the UK.
I lost a friend in the 90's in highschool and they played this song at his funeral. It was in New England in the winter it was the sadest thing i have ever encountered in my life.
Dude, I just started listening to your channel. I liked how you got into Depeche Mode and now Radiohead keep going there’s a lot more out there I like how it’s blowing your mind. Try listening to The Cure thank you for playing the cranberries zombie may she rest in peace
Wonderful to see someone discovering this great band with such a rich history. Radiohead has an immense catalog, so definitely worth going down the rabbit hole. I suggest RADIOHEAD - Paranoid Andriod next, a must listen❣❣❣ Yes, they are British.
I’m 72 years old and I’m loving listening to this song again! I love this song and that voice! Just no words to express how grateful I am for this song ❤
The look at 2:46 had me rolling😂😂. 50 years old and love watching you hear these songs for the first time. It would be so epic to go back and hear some of this stuff for the first time all over again!

I'm so glad you enjoyed "Creep"! Radiohead has a very different vibe that I'm definitely feeling! That voice is so special! I really dig the melancholy feel of it. At different stages of our lives, we find ourselves asking, "am I good enough? pretty enough? strong enough; tough enough?" The first times I heard it, I must've listened to it close to 50 times, both with & without the lyrics! This was a perfect choice to react to, Declan. Thank you! Take care. Stay safe. ☮️❤️🎶
On the contrary this song should tell you that we are all weird in our own way. None of us feel like we belong. And it’s thru music like this that we ultimately unite!
when I was a teenager during the time this song came out, Creep immediately spoke to me. The thing that makes this song so special is that most people can identify with this lyrics. It's heartbreaking. Unrequited love has been sung like this multiple times spanning through generations. The ones that come to mind are You Don't Know Me by Rey Charles 1962. then of course Creep 1992 and Peach Scone by Hobo Johnson 2018. Even though the genres are so different, they all tell the same story.
Love your passion. And it’s great to see someone that’s never heard an amazing classical piece before and then realised how good it is. This is an iconic song by an iconic band and possibly one of the greatest songs ever.
GREAT reaction MollyBoy! Radiohead (from Abingdon, UK) is a VERY worthwhile rabbit hole to dive down - you won't regret it! This was from their first album, which admittedly isn't a good representation of what they do/are. It's pure alt-rock, but they would get much more experimental with their sounds in subsequent albums! Future recommendations: Street Spirit (Fade Out), High & Dry, Fake Plastic Trees, Just (all from their second album The Bends); Lucky, Karma Police, Paranoid Android (from OK Computer - masterpiece of an album!); Everything In It's Right Place, Idioteque, Optimistic (from Kid A - here's where they really start getting experimental); Knives Out, I Might Be Wrong (from Amnesiac); Where I End and You Begin, There There (from Hail To The Thief)...that's for starters...this is a fantastic band! Cheers from Canada, eh!!
Fella.. Radiohead are celebrated as one of the most seminal bands of all time, frequently their album ‘OK Computer’ is voted the number one album of all time. And it deserves to be there, it’s a masterpiece. Yet so is Kid A and In Rainbows.
Oh yeah boy! Even if the band themselves eventually got tired of it and refuse to play it anymore, it is undeniably a timeless masterpiece. The emotions built into it transcend generations. Strikes a blow just as hard now at 46 as it did when I was 16. More Radiohead please, it will blow your mind.
This is one of the most complex and well constructed songs! From a musician's perspective, this song hits in all the right places; never mind the lyrics. They have managed to tap into the universality of feeling like an outsider.
I don't know about Fight Club, but the acoustic version was featured in the opening of Guardians of the Galaxy 3, and in the context of that scene it worked brilliantly
I wonder what you will think of Radiohead's evolved sound on "OK Computer" and then further evolved sound in the most recent albums. It's unfortunate that Thom Yorke almost disowns "Creep" now.
I am a massive Radiohead Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood fan!! I love so many era's and genre's of music, grew up in the 60's as a flower child, thru the 70's, the 80's and each decade has so many incredible and phenomenally gifted musicians/singer/songwriters. I rate Radiohead as one of my all time top favs because of their sheer talent, Jonny's phenomenal composing and Thom's song writing and singing genius. I love their tunes. There a few that didn't catch me, but a lot of them did and the tunes that did keep them as one of the all time top bands. My favs are "Creep" but not this version. I like the live version with Thom scream singing his lungs out, it's over the top! I love "Paranoid Android" but prefer the live at Jools Holland BBC performance, it's the best! I love the complete "In Rainbows" cd but prefer the "In Rainbows Live from the Basement". I love "Karma Police", "No Surprises", "Street Spirit", "15 Step", and I love Thom and Jonny's "The Smile". Thanks MollyBoy!!
This was from their first album, and it's one of their songs that they really tried to distance themselves from. It was during the britpop indy era of the early to mid 90s and their producers tried to pigeonhole them into just doing more of the same. Each Album they got more experimental and eventually they took over producing themselves so they could actually make the music they wanted to, and their 2nd album has a track called My Iron Lung which is about this song creep kinda keeping them stuck on a life support, holding them back. Some of my favourite tracks of theirs are Paranoid Android, Let Down, Blackstar, There There, 2+2 make 5, How To Disappear Completely, Pyramid song (I think you'll love the rhythmic pattern of that one as it's very odd trying to figure it out, but it works perfectly)...but you could probably pick a track at random and find something interesting going on with it
Hello out there, to all my fellow CREEPS & WEIRDOS out there, we make the world a more interesting place to live!!! 😎 Great reaction 😎 And to answer your question, Radiohead met while attending Abingdon School, a private school for boys in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, England.

If a song could’ve gone viral when this was released, it would be this one. Crossed every genre. Everyone LOVED it!
This was really an anthem for most of GenX when it came out.. the angst, the self-hatred, and just the hopelessness you can hear in his voice... so powerful
My thoughts exactly!
You’re right when you say it’s a masterpiece.
I’m a 56 year old mother of three sons and meeting me, you would never know that I identify with this song. It’s hidden so well.
I'm 59. And me too.
60 me too
You've found your anthem. ❤
It's called masking and same beth, same
I'm a 36 year old woman and I've noticed this from the women who became mothers. A lot of them feel like people completely forget/ignore that they where a whole person before having children. My cousin used to be an artist and exhibition designer, but being a stay at home mum now, she felt like her individuality was slowly drained from her. She found a great outlet though: a group of mums that meet up, titled "girls
The 90's have a strong case for the best decade for music. So many iconic bands in different genres.
Yeah, I grew up listening to Rush, LED Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the Who Ect but when the 90’s rolled around, that music spoke to me. It sounded exactly how I felt. Now it’s my favorite era of music.
Rush is still my favorite band though
Good music stopped way before the 90s with a few exceptions like Radiohead. The breadth of musical quality across all styles was unsurpassed in the 60s and 70s, getting thinner and thinner until we have the dross that passes for popular music today. Can you imagine anyone wasting their time in 30/40 years doing a reaction channel to music from today?
@Maisiewuppp it's painful soulless.
I've never heard a song convey so clearly through music the sound of someone just absolutely going through it... The feels are real.
That loud-quiet-loud dynamic you are loving so much was pioneered by the Pixies in the late 80s and had a huge influence on the bands of the 90s. You should definitely check them out.
This is a song you can't forget it once you hear it. What a masterpiece from Radiohead.
😎
Love that
Awesome times, thanks for sharing a good memory.💜
Creep was one of my wife's favourite songs from Radiohead. She was an English teacher who also wrote poetry and just loved lyrics like this.
She might also like Modern Jukebox's cover of this song featuring Haley Reinhart.
@@briansmith48 I was writing about my wife in the past tense.
@@nekite1 . I'm sorry to hear that. 😢
I hope all is well with you in the present.
@@briansmith48 All good, although I still miss her every day. Thank you for your reply.
She had great taste in music.
There's something so real about this song and his performance was iconic. A masterpiece.
Fake plastic trees is one of their best songs.
😊
This is one of those songs that really resonates with a lot of people. Still can't believe this is the same band that did "Karma Police" and "Paranoid Android."
Listen to both of those songs!!
IM 75, THIS HAS BEEN ON MY PLAYLIST FOR 25+YRS. THERE IS SO MUCH WELL CRAFTED MUSIC .. THERE AINT SH!T LATELY!
Well, there is Ren, but I agree completely.
Try listening to Ren. I'm almost 70 and he's the first artist in a long time that has moved me. I listen to him every day.
One of the greatest bands in the history of music.
Watching you fall in love with a song I've listened to and cried to and laughed to and been drunk to DOZENS if not HUNDREDS of times is really cathartic... I'm delighted you are experiencing it and hope it as impactful to you as it was to me... ❤, Gen X
The vocal at the end in one of the live versions is mental he holds it a lot longer and shows all the emotion
I would put In Rainbows on that list as well.
Their actual peak was in the late 90s but they did not stop making great albums.
They never peaked they keep getting better, their last album with the smile is filled with such delicate pieces. ✨️
Well said.
1000%
One of my favorite songs that plays on repeat when I’m driving in my car!!! Fun fact: Johnny hated this song originally and during rehearsals Johnny slashed this cord trying to vent his dislike of it. A recording executive was in the studio next door and asked who is that? He then walked over to them and said can you do that louder? Creep was born right then and there…
Absolutely loved seeing your reaction to this! It truly is a stunner.
The first time I heard about this song was on AGT. I then went and googled it, it blew my mind. BTW I’m a 65 year young woman. And I loved it. And they’re from the UK.
✨ Radiohead “Paranoid Android” NEXT PLEASE!! I ABSOLUTELY know you LOVE IT!!!🤘🤘🤘
Upvote 100%
❤ yes!! Masterpiece
Yes!!!
a MUST
Watch the live performance on the BBC: one of my absolute favourite live song EVER!
I've been absolutely in love with 'in rainbows ' from the basement ...radiohead have such talent, so many bangers
I can’t wait to see your reaction 😊
I lost a friend in the 90's in highschool and they played this song at his funeral. It was in New England in the winter it was the sadest thing i have ever encountered in my life.
Can't ever go wrong with radiohead. They are so incredible.
I must admit your playlist is badass. Thanks Molly
The look at 2:46 had me rolling😂😂. 50 years old and love watching you hear these songs for the first time. It would be so epic to go back and hear some of this stuff for the first time all over again!
Love this song, gotta say you probably have the best music reaction videos on here, I haven't seen someone who has such similar reactions as me before so I just feel great knowing someone feels how I do about music :') You have also genuinely been helping me through some stuff recently just by uploading, so thank you man
I'm so glad you enjoyed "Creep"! Thank you! Take care. Stay safe. ☮️❤️🎶
It is a "masterpiece." IMHO, it's one of the best songs of the 90s.
New subscriber! Love this reaction! Radiohead are from Abingdon, United Kingdom. I love this song, never get tired of it!
Radiohead - Street Spirit. Radiohead - Just.
The 90's were such an AMAZING time in music!!! Takes me straight back to high school and good old teenaged angst!
pixies - where is my mind is the song in fight club, definitely worth checking out, keep up the good work cuz
This is one of those songs that makes me doubt my existence while I cry into the darkness... It's beyond a classic.
On the contrary this song should tell you that we are all weird in our own way. None of us feel like we belong. And it’s thru music like this that we ultimately unite!
They’re from Abingdon in Oxfordshire. You could check out “Jigsaw falling into pieces” or “Let Down”
The irony is they hate this song. I always thought it was relatable when it came out.
Variety is the best way to go young man...😊 you'll be at 100k in no time. Enjoy your channel very much❤
How can you not know of this song dude?
All time classic from one of the 90’s best bands!
I love this song
Watching Thom Yorke sing this live is simply a must!!!
Oh the Radiohead rabbit-hole....sublime.
This song hits everyone because everyone has felt this way at some point in life.
Loving the channel, brother!
Nice! High and Dry and Fake Plastic Trees are great ones too.
when I was a teenager during the time this song came out, Creep immediately spoke to me.
The Fight Club song you’re thinking of is The Pixies with ‘ Where Is My Mind’
He hasn't gotten to Pixies yet has he?
I was thinking that. 👍
Love your passion. And it’s great to see someone that’s never heard an amazing classical piece before and then realised how good it is. This is an iconic song by an iconic band and possibly one of the greatest songs ever.
Love them! High and Dry and Fake Plastic Trees are musts
And don't forget Like spinning plates both live piano and the studio version and well. ...almost every song Radio head has ever made lol😊
Fella.. Radiohead are celebrated as one of the most seminal bands of all time, frequently their album ‘OK Computer’ is voted the number one album of all time. And it deserves to be there, it’s a masterpiece. Yet so is Kid A and In Rainbows.
And "The Bends."
It IS a masterpiece, you are correct!!!!😊
I love that you're listening to 4 decades of various bands
Oh yeah boy! Even if the band themselves eventually got tired of it and refuse to play it anymore, it is undeniably a timeless masterpiece. The emotions built into it transcend generations. Strikes a blow just as hard now at 46 as it did when I was 16. More Radiohead please, it will blow your mind.
Cause I'm a crepe
I'm a weirdough
What the hell am I doughing here?
I donut belong here
@@neilpatrickhairless lol 😂
Lol😂 thanks
Did we just become best friends?
Weird-dough??? 😳
Is that some kind of strange pastry??? 🤔 🥐🥖🥯 😆
I kneaded that
This is one of the most complex and well constructed songs! From a musician's perspective, this song hits in all the right places; never mind the lyrics. They have managed to tap into the universality of feeling like an outsider.
So enjoyed seeing your reaction and your enjoyment at the brilliant song👍
I don't know about Fight Club, but the acoustic version was featured in the opening of Guardians of the Galaxy 3, and in the context of that scene it worked brilliantly
I don’t really like Radiohead but I absolutely love this song.
Same
I didn’t really liked Radiohead after OK Computer
Get awey with ye...incase the fairies hear you...
yep me too. far too much mumbling
You picked a winner here kid. Awesome song!
Welcome to Radiohead little brother! Fucking brilliant artists! Karma Police is crazy good also.
The first time I heard this, probably the week it came out in the 90s, my jaw hit the floor. One of the best songs ever written.
