The way the distortion kicks in on the guitar after he sings “I wish I was special” is an emotional gut punch and yet, I never get sick of this song.

Radiohead are British royalty. They have been called the most influencial band since The Beatles. This album is nothing like their other stuff but they keep evolving. OK Computer is considered a masterpiece and one of the greatest albums of all time. Radiohead could be the best band since the 60s and 70s super legends of pop and rock. Don't sleep on this. OK Computer might need a full album reaction soon.

When this song first hit, it wasn’t immediately huge. I was at a bar with a girl I was friends with and we were waiting for our other friends to show when the DJ decided to play this song.
I grabbed her hand and said “follow my lead, this is gonna be awesome.” So we hit the dance floor and started slow dancing and since the song was new, everyone else figured it must be a slow song all the way through so they did too.
As we were dancing, I told my friend “after the verse, we are gonna rock out HARD”. We both had a beer or 5 in us already so she was game.
When the chorus hit, we went nuts and everyone looked at us for a second like we were crazy, then just went with it too. The whole bar did that for the rest of the song and went apeshit cheering when it was over. High fives all around, we were the cool kids for a night. One of the coolest bar moments of my life. Thanks Radiohead! ❤🤘

It's not _just_ that they did a song about feeling weird and wrong and like a stranger in your own skin under the eyes of someone you're attracted to, they made the feeling tragic, romantic, and beautiful.
It's uplifting, hearing your soulsong in the voice of an other soul. 'Cause they can _tell_ you you're not alone, you won't believe them, but someone _singing_ what you're _feeling?_ Validation. Perfect validation.

56 yo here. 90’s was my hay day. From first hear, Creep and Radiohead was legendary. Not many songs can wrap up the whole of the coming of age experience for the majority of humans so eloquently; with so few words; with haunting vocals ; and powerfully reserved music. Every box checked for a masterpiece. Thom Yorke has one of the most beautiful voices in the history of music. If you want more, FAKE PLASTIC TREES!

@ I entered my teens in the 80’s. The music of the 80’s will always be my favorite. But, in the 90’s, I was early college, just into my twenties and free to do what I wanted. So, the 90’s were the days of wild experiences… of which includes those that are discussed only in adult conversations and those that are not discussed at all! You could really say I was split decade… 1985 -1995. After that, life became serious and monotonous, requiring a shift in priorities and outlook.

Austin was such a Mecca for bands to cut their teeth. The song was supposedly written by singer Thom Yorke while he was studying at Exeter University in second half of the 1980's. The song was inspired by a girl that Thom followed around. The song talks about a young man that keeps following a woman around, whom he is attracted to. Towards the end, he is not enough self-confident to confront her but he realizes when she runs out the door that he's behaving like a stalker and creeping her out. After being asked about the song Yorke stated: "I have a real problem being a man in the '90s... Any man with any sensitivity or conscience toward the opposite sex would have a problem. To actually assert yourself in a masculine way without looking like you're in a hard-rock band is a very difficult thing to do... It comes back to the music we write, which is not effeminate, but it's not brutal in its arrogance. It is one of the things I'm always trying: To assert a sexual persona and on the other hand trying desperately to negate it."

The sad thing is that females only see the creepy behaviour and of course don’t think that that may not be the intent of the male, he just doesn’t know what to do. It’s difficult for women to know and the default setting is to be afraid. I’m older now and this has happened to me, but this has opened my eyes as to why this sometimes happens. In my case, he was just a stalker ex, nothing like this song. Great explanation 👍

Good music stopped way before the 90s with a few exceptions like Radiohead. The breadth of musical quality across all styles was unsurpassed in the 60s and 70s, getting thinner and thinner until we have the dross that passes for popular music today. This song was released in 1992, a little past my time as far as new music went. By 92, I had begun listening to the Oldies Stations for my music. However, my son, who's 45 now, came home one day back in 92. "Mom, theres this great new song I want you to hear". It was Creep. I listened once without saying a word. When it was over I said "Play it again". I cried through it that time. My son began hugging me and saying "It's ok, Mom. Its ok." He was worriedly looking at me, not knowing what had happened. I looked up at him, and said, " that is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard, but its so sad." He said, "Well if I had known you'd react like that, I would have warned you." I smiled and asked "How would you have known?" There is a reaction for you. ❤ Strange how music and songs effect people. It is powerful. Great song, great reaction! Keep up the good work , MB.

My cousin used to be an artist and exhibition designer, but being a stay at home mum now, she felt like her individuality was slowly drained from her. She found a great outlet though: a group of mums that meet up, titled "girls

Radiohead is just such a amazing band. They have such a large catalog of brilliant songs and I'm sure you will love anything you react to from them. Creep is just the perfect anthem for all of us who sometimes feel like we don't belong wherever we are. And by "all of us," I really mean all of us. EVERYBODY has felt this way at least once!

Radiohead is one of the most creative bands in rock history. Creep was a perfect song meant for a one-hit wonder band. Radiohead took that one hit and changed everything, going from a post-grunge band doomed to obscurity to the premier art rock/prog rock band of the 2000s and 2010s.
Their next album, The Bends is entirely underrated because the albums that follow are brilliant. But I would put The Bends up against anything the Beatles put out before Revolver and the Beach Boys put out before Pet Sounds. And after The Bends, Radiohead released OK Computer and Kid A, two albums that can compete with any album ever released.

I love watching you react to my favourite tracks. It brings a fresh perspective. Welcome to the Radiohead rabbit hole , you could spend a year down here. . They have Ben lazily labelled as depressing, but they understand the power of music to stir the emotions. They are clever too but not indulgent. I recommend the " from the basement session of in Rainbows , particularly Nude, a weird Fishes and Reckoner. Softer and jazz influenced but full of beauty and pain

This was from their first album, and it's one of their songs that they really tried to distance themselves from. It was during the britpop indy era of the early to mid 90s and their producers tried to pigeonhole them into just doing more of the same. Each Album they got more experimental and eventually they took over producing themselves so they could actually make the music they wanted to, and their 2nd album has a track called My Iron Lung which is about this song creep kinda keeping them stuck on a life support, holding them back.
Some of my favourite tracks of theirs are Paranoid Android, Let Down, Blackstar, There There, 2+2 make 5, How To Disappear Completely, Pyramid song (I think you'll love the rhythmic pattern of that one as it's very odd trying to figure it out, but it works perfectly)...but you could probably pick a track at random and find something interesting going on with it

I am a massive Radiohead Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood fan!! I love so many era's and genre's of music, grew up in the 60's as a flower child, thru the 70's, the 80's and each decade has so many incredible and phenomenally gifted musicians/singer/songwriters. I rate Radiohead as one of my all time top favs because of their sheer talent, Jonny's phenomenal composing and Thom's song writing and singing genius. I love their tunes. There a few that didn't catch me, but a lot of them did and the tunes that did keep them as one of the all time top bands. My favs are "Creep" but not this version. I like the live version with Thom scream singing his lungs out, it's over the top! I love "Paranoid Android" but prefer the live at Jools Holland BBC performance, it's the best! I love the complete "In Rainbows" cd but prefer the "In Rainbows Live from the Basement". I love "Karma Police", "No Surprises", "Street Spirit", "15 Step", and I love Thom and Jonny's "The Smile". Thanks MollyBoy!!

Having grown up with such great music in the 1970s, it still surprises me that I hold Radiohead as equal to many of the greatest bands from that era. They are my favorite post-70s band. Their use of guitars, synthesizers, and drums, coupled with great songwriting, always makes their music stand out. You can pick anything from the albums Kid A or OK Computer and it will blow you away. One of the greatest performances was on their Video DVD “album” King of Limbs: Live from the Basement.
