Fun fact: in Space Invaders, the reason the ships start off slow and move faster as you destroy ships was due to the limitations of the hardware. It would struggle to render all the assets on screen, but as you removed those assets it would free up the processor to render more quickly which caused the game to speed up as there were less ships on the screen.
FYI, Playstation would be correct since back then there was only that console from Sony, it didin't had the "One" in it, people added it later to distinguish from the 2.
Not to argue against Jaimie's point made about the Playstation, but when it was created it was simply called that: Playstation. Not a number or such first. The proper retro name for it, is simply Playstation. -Sincerely, a retro gaming nerd.
yep, because they didnt know they were ever gonna come up with a ps2.... of course, nintendo was ahead of the curve by already coming out with 64 nintendos..... and of course, microsoft just shot all of them out of the water with 360 xboxes
1:16 My brothers and I saved up and bought a Nintendo, we did mostly odd jobs to get the money (mostly lawn work). When we bought it, we were the 3rd or 4th household in the town that had one. The only catridge we had at first was the combination cartidge of Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt.
Man, I got Duck Hunt immediately! Granted, it was one of the first games I owned. Maybe second I ever played? We would have played Mario first, but they were on the same cartridge.
1:16 Duck Hunt was on the film 8-Bit Christmas (2021). The spoiled rich kid who owned the only Nintendo and would "playfully" pretend to shoot his peers with that gun.
I have never yelled Super Metroid so loudly in my life!!!! Me and my brother played that game religiously back in the 90s God take me back to my childhood LOL
Uhh no the original playstation was just called the "Playstation" it wasn't called "Playstation 1" until the actual PS One came out in 2000, 5+ years after the original Playstation.
Someone needs to prevent Brian from winking at us like that. I was not ready for that random moment of sexiness. I already fangirl over him and Sharon now you gonna make me thirst too? I'm not ready for it lol

As soon as the Duck Hunt clues started coming on I got these weird nostalgia but I couldn't guess it. Then I heard the name of the very first video game I ever played. It used to come in those old cassette tapes I had in early 90's. Thanks for making me remember my childhood memory.
The fact that they struggled to get Tecmo Bowl hurt my soul. Tecmo Bowl and Tecmo Super Bowl were literally the soundtracks of my childhood. I spent sooooo many hours playing those games.
Yeah, got almost all of these right off the bat, especially Super Metroid from the door sound, still my all time favorite game. Made me sad seeing them not know these, especially Super Metroid. Guessing they weren't gaming on NES, SNES, or Genesis much or at all when they were younger. I still go back and play NES and SNES games from time to time. 😶

7:55 That TMNT video game was the hardest one to complete in our area at the time, when there were hardly any Nintendos (NES) and a very limited amount of games.
Back in the day I used to buy the systems and rent games as desired instead of going all in on one system and wanting what I didn't have. It was nice having both a Genesis and a SNES, for example. Probably has a lot to do with how I nailed every sound, including the more obscure ones.
This episode was awesome. Brought up a lot of memories of wasting a lot of time! I wish I had all those quarters back that I spent on some of these games.
I think the only thing that would have made this video better is Chris’ terrible/hilarious puns! Plenty of more vintage video games to do - please make a part 2, 3, 4…!
I’m going to have my parents play along and if they don’t get the bonus rounds I’m going to be very disappointed in them. Those were my main systems growing up. They heard those sounds more than anything from the games I played on them.
My family has had ALMOST all of the gaming consoles……… we even had duck hunt and tried for a way to play without that dog. Also Brien my family had the sega Saturn as our first internet hook up before the webtv
Thank you SO MUCH for this video. I have been searching FOREVER to figure out this old game I used to play on pc when I was younger and it was DOOM! I LOVED that game. I'm about to cry of happiness lol

fewer ships. there were fewer ships.
but everything else you said was correct.

Which personally I still find weird. For me it is PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PS4, PS5
Fun fact: the whole spoken "SEGA" intro actually used more power than the actual games!
So that’s why they stopped using it.
Jaime being a fan of the DOOM soundtrack? My admiration for her only grows 😂 She killed it this episode.
The duck hunt dog laugh is so iconic/traumatic! How did they not get that 😅
They didn’t play it enough as kids apparently, if at all.
I can't believe they were all struggling so hard with Super Metroid. That's one of the most timeless games ever!
Exactly bro. These people are gamers. Hell my wife, who rarely plays games, knew super Metroid and duck hunt
That was NOT fair because TECHNICALLY the first PlayStation was just Playstation....... It had no number.
True. The first Playstation, the square one, had no number to its name, it was later "updated" to a slimmer version, which was THEN called PSX One
@@SergioAzamuth No. The slim model is PSOne, not PSX One. PSX is the Japanese exclusive DVR console.

I heard the door open, and it was over. It hurt my soul as well.
Playstation is the correct answer for bonus question 2. It wasn't called ps1 until much later.

Technically playstation 1 is incorrect as there is is the modern playstation 1 that's totally different from the OG "Playstation" console
This, the PS1 was the smaller re release!
13:44. Homegirl was right to say PlayStation thought. Because it’s not called “PlayStation One”. It’s the Sony PlayStation
Both answers are correct. Original release is called the PlayStation. Sony later released a smaller version called the PlayStation One.
The original one was also called PSX, especially after the PS one came out
13:46 The ps 1 is called "The PlayStation" so she did get it right.
