There is easier way to cut out items from images.
Just right click the object in the imege, wait 1-2 seconds and at the bottom of the menu "Copy subject" option will appear. It copies subject to buffer, then just paste it to your timeline.
Works on latest MacOS and Safari.

Then you'll love it. I'd still recommend watching the FCP lessons though because they both play off each other. But all the before/after intros for the step by step color grading workflows were created with CF2 Pro. You can just create better looking grades with the plugin 🤘🏼@@turbostunt321

Anyway since update FCP 10.6.9 on newest MacOS Sonoma 14.0 (MacBook 16 2019 Intel) out animations don't work anymore. Reinstalling plugin didn't help. Anyone has same issue with Tap5a plugin?
Edited: I've just read message from Tap5a creator Tapio Haaja and with newest update 10.6.10 work totally fine like before! Great plugin!

If I want to copy the same animation to another image with cmd+shift+v do I need to make the new image a compound clip before, or will that option also be included when I paste the information?
Btw, as far as I know, the creator calls himself *Tapsa* not Tap five A 😉
It won't transfer the compound clip unfortunately. Oh really? haha well shoot, I've been saying it wrong the whole time.
what did you use for the mouth animation in the beginning
I duplicated the clip and used the draw mask tool to cut out my mouth, then keyframed the position. Really shotty work lol but because it's only a few frames, I got away with it.
Dylan, as always, you're killing this. My question has always been...can I use images from amazon or other websites without having to worry about copyright?
You absolutely have to worry about copyright. The solution is either make your own image or pay for the license to use them.
@@asirus Which is why I pay for envato...but some things are still not available. I wasn't sure if there was a fair use somehow.
@@mtamech535 Yeah, that's annoying when you're paying and still don't get everything you need. Fair use is a super grey area, personally I assume there is no fair use so I don't risk getting caught out.

I downloaded the plugin but can't get it into Final Cut Pro. Is there an installer or do I need to drag the folder somewhere? Love your channel!!! Do you have any courses that you sell for video production?
Hey Scott! Thank you so much! Yes so you'll need to drag it to your motion templates folder, then effects folder. I'd suggest looking up 'how to install plugins in FCP' on TH-cam. That'll give you lots of options. I don't have one on video production, but I just released a color correction/color grading masterclass that I'm extremely proud of. Give the website a look when you get the chance ⬇️

😂 Bro, you and me both. Although I do use Photoshop for more than that, I was also bringing images into photoshop just to cut them out. I don't think it's a new feature, but I'm also not entirely sure.

Did you put it in the effects folder in your motion templates folder? Did you restart FCP (close out and open again)?

Why can't this handicapped program have such basic functions built in? Why is Apple so illogical. Every even free program these days already offers such things, but in FCPX, of course, you need a plugin.
It's a shame, because I'm thinking more and more about changing the program to Davinci even though I love the magnetic timeline and the way FCPX works.
And pay no attention to copyright law as you snag images from the web from wherever…

@@dylanjohndickerson call me whatever you would like. While the technique shown is great, stealing images from other creators , yes even amazon listings, is still stealing. A company I’ve done work for has been fined and threatened with lawsuits for using random images from the web. I’d assume you’d be cool with people just randomly taking your work without permission and using it to make a living?

Thanks again Dylan! Always good stuff-I don’t get the compound clip though. What is it about compounding that fixed the fly-in of the animation?
Basically by moving the position of the pop up, you're moving the boundaries of it. So instead of say, flying to the bottom of the entire frame, it only flys to the bottom of the moved boundary, which is not the bottom of the actual frame. So by creating a compound clip, you're essentially resetting the frame in a way. Hopefully that makes sense.
