Just fixed my mk4 golf electric window. The pulley system/cables are real tight when you install new ones and takes time to get cables on the 4 round runners. You have to be patient when doing this job! If you have unplugged central locking system(which is inevitable) you need to plug everything back in for that door to lock/unlock correctly. So check the door works before putting glass and door card back on. I learnt the hard way with a headache with a door locked shut. It's part of a safety
The panel has many bolts some of which are easy to miss. Pay attention and inspect closely. Also on some models the motor is riveted to the panel. Although this does not alloy to the Passat. From my experiences though, the majority of the time the plastic guide wheels break, and derail the cable.
Yes, I did it in the end. But as it's so long ago I can't remember how I did it. I do seem to remember a plastic pop rivet type thingy was a pain in the butt to get out....
Just remembered, you need to remove the two rubber access plugs found at almost the top left/right corners of the panel, do you can access the regulator to window mounting bolts. These are T30 torx. You need to lower the window slightly, in order for these bolts to be accessible through the ports. If your motor is seized, you will need to remove it first, in order to lower the window manually to the right level.
How do I get window back on track from my understanding drop it slowly and attach it to the clips or attach the clips to the window then the window with clips to the track , which is the proper way
If only there was a video that showed how to get this sodding panel off the actual door... I've undone every bolt in sight and it still wont budge. The hammer is coming out soon :/
I went to a vw car dealer shop and they told me $300 for each door i turned around and left went to a private shop got both doors done for $100 and all it needed was to be put back on track

5 minutes and 6 seconds saved me 451.00 from a factory vw service. well done!
It’s sad this is the only video that could help us and u didn’t even say a single word that’s great haha

At that moment you need to fix the motor to hold everything in place then you will fix the fourth corner
