    Keep in mind that the Google Pixel 6 Pro and the Google Pixel 7 Pro have 2k displays and higher brightness nits and higher refresh rate at 120 Hz. Not to mention the 5a having only a midrange chip which saves lots more battery compared to the high end tensor g1/g2🤷

    Awesome comparison vid, one of the best on TH-cam for the Pixel range! I recently got a 6a and had insane battery drain the first day using it. Once I updated to Android 13 I started to get around 20 hours estimated on a full charge which seems much better :)

  • @cinemapigeon4898
    @cinemapigeon4898 ปีที่แล้ว +36

    Impressive. 5a was considered insanely good battery life, one of the best out on the market, and it is true, however since the 6a is so close with a lot more power/smaller phone, it might not matter unless you want bigger screen/headphone jack. I was second guessing my 6a purchase since the 5a is under $200 all the time, but seeing these new tests, I think I will keep my 6a. Plus with latest Android updates, the battery performance could have improved on the 6a, meaning all those original battery reviews done months ago are outdated and not accurate. 5a still a great phone/great value, but 6a is dope.

    My 6a is doing so great. Excellency in battery life at around 20% left at the end of the day. It never disaapoints unlike my old iphone 11 pro. So small and compact, packed with so much power. I will only upgrade when it stops getting android support and when the new 9/10 pixels will have immersive battery life. For now, i aint upgrading shit.

    Crazy to think that even with the bigger battery in both pro models, that the 120hz and 1440 display drains the battery that much. With my 7 Pro, I've changed my settings to have a 60hz display and 1080 resolution over the 1440 and turned off always on display and I've noticed a huge difference in battery. This also helps not having my phone run as hot either.

    When you have pro models with bigger battery shouldn't be losing like this. Google needs to optimize better with the battery. Because you're paying for the best for the best.... BUT! The old ones have more fixes to them than the new ones. Time shows that more optimize can make a phone great, but you lose security over time.

      My guess is a combination of adaptive battery saver (probably requires a few weeks to fully optimize battery usage per a user) and latest Android updates that also made battery optimizations? Reviews 4+ months ago used the 6a for a handful of days and based everything off of that. Either that or certain tasks like TH-cam watching make the Pixels seem deceptively good as TH-cam is Google, Pixel is Google, so some battery magic can happen there where the phones know you're watching TH-cam and shuts down a bunch of the processor after initially loading a video to save power.

      @@Dermaybach no improvement on my end. My phone drained 8% overnight with WiFi, Bluetooth and location all turned off. I'm still puzzled how that happened

    This is the difference between Android and IOS, IOS doesn't drain if not used, well optimized, whereas Android start dropping battery % instantly.

    I had the 6a, drained battery like it didn't have one. Would lose 13% in 8 hours being untouched. That was prior to Android 13. Maybe should of kept it a little longer, but return time was ending. Also, speakers were too quiet, fur us older one good ear ppl.

    Man, I only upgraded from the 3a to the 5a because my phone was dying by dinnertime with fairly light use. The battery on my 5a, nearly 2 years later, is still very good... Only really gets into battery saver range if I watch TH-cam for like 6-8 hours a day. But the fingerprint reader on the back has been terrible. It's always failed a little bit, but now it's working like 20% of the time even if I clean it and my fingers, add and replace my fingerprints... No help and I'm up for an upgrade in 3 months. I'm hoping the 7a has a good enough battery, as it's already cutting maH from the 5a size....I don't need fancy graphics, just a phone that simply works when I pick it up.

    A physically larger battery will always beat optimisation. Also, a bigger battery protects us a little bit against brands trying forced obsolescence by reducing battery times through software updates in the long run.
