My 2019 Soul EV had the air intakes under the front seats, so in summer I would use max air when charging to cool down the batteries, worked well on hot summer days.
I've noticed the same thing with my classic Ioniq - The battery fan will only run when charging or running (HV contactors closed), so you really can "heat soak" the battery if you've just did a long full power fast charge then leave the car off. Even if battery is at over 45c, the fan won't come back on until you start the car.
Ooh, that’s interesting! And a bit concerning. Might be best to keep the car running after a long trip with lots of DCFC session then. Or maybe it’s enough to put it on a slow AC charger just so it keeps running the fan?
By the voltage you can see what kind of batt is in Soul. 30.5kwh gross / 27kwh netto have 400V when is full 100% 31.5kwh gross / 29kwh netto have 430V when is full 100% So you have 27kwh batt :)
Looks like you found the perfect car for your needs! Hope you can buy it! My 5 years and 95 000 km with a 2018 30 kWh Soul have been great. I can already tell you that 120 km/h is not optimal, the car is quite thirsty at such speeds. I learned to enjoy 100-105 km/h on highways in that car to get as much range as possible without going too slow. One test that you could do is compare driving in B mode vs D mode. I never liked B mode much, it didn’t give me better range than D mode + coasting but maybe you get different results!
If driving manually, it all boils down to your control of the accelerator. You can drive exactly the same in B as in D, just that pedal movement would be a bit different.
Yeah, and when you use eco mode the passenger side doesn't get cool air, so the battery heats up. So, what do we learn? Don't use eco mode in Soul. :D Edit: maby Valdemar could route some pipe with cool air from the A/C to the inlet.... 🤔
@@Bud_Terence do you mean the "Driver Only" button? that button diverts the cabin HVAC to blow only on the driver side. When I run Eco mode, there's still air coming out the vents for the passenger side, so if the battery inlet vent is underneath the passenger seat then it should be cooling properly unless it's blocked.
The 27kWh version had some problems with the battery and the replacements under warranty the battery pack has been replaced with the same 30kWh battery pack of the 30kWh version soul
it seems that when they change the battery under warranty they use new generation modules, but 96 cell pairs instead of 100 of the 30 kWh soul. Also they update the BMS. More than good enough!
I've been running with the 27kWh for 3 months now, on the original battery after 170,000km, and it feels like 75% SOH. Buying an EV in January was a fun challenge lol. I'm seeing roughly 80km in winter temps, but can do 110km when above 12 degrees before turtle mode (130km if I stay under 60kmph). I think around 95 - 105 kmph is optimum if that's safe to drive in Norway

Really enjoying these classic EV test videos. Interesting to see what you can do with them.

Smart!

Already tested on Leaf. No difference at all.

The inlet for cold air is under the front passenger seat.

I am so glad you are on TH-cam. Keep going my dude!

just to clarify:
frankenstein was the creator.
frankenstein's monster was the creation
I know.
Frankenstein didnt make any noise :)
It's interesting that the chademo cars charge at 1,5 to 2 C, but the next generation with eSoul and niro ev don't come close to 1,5C . :-(
Perfect press shuttle
Cooling similar to env200 except env doesn't cool on the move 😊
You need to try Tesla Model Y Matrix Headlights!!
good thing to lower the moister in the garage :D
Our 27kw 2017 model has covered 54k and has 95.4% left in the battery. Amazing car and love it to bits.
