    This man's particular hurdy-gurdy has a most superior sound compared with some of the others featured on TH-cam - even though the other performers are very skilled. I wonder what makes this sound so extraordinary? I enjoyed this.

    • @alphamoonman
      @alphamoonman 5 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      Probably expensively crafted, as well as some added sound post-recording in there such as when he sometimes takes his hand off the crank, you can still hear low hums. Definitely added in for feel.

    • @alphamoonman
      @alphamoonman 5 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      Also the shape of string-based instruments such as cellos, guitars, violins, bass violins, bass guitars, and likely the hurdy gurdy change how they sound due to how their structure receives and distributes sound. A lot of hurdy gurdys I see are often a little boxy, especially compared to to the one in this video which takes a much more rounder shape in comparison.

    • @pilotavery
      @pilotavery 5 ปีที่แล้ว +116

      @@alphamoonman Those low hums are coming from the Hurdy. There are 4 "drone" strings that sound like a backing track. They resonate even when he stops for a second. This is no added sounds.

    • @adamlewis1613
      @adamlewis1613 4 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      I know one other hurdy gurdy I've seen on TH-cam is an electric one, it has a bit more of an artificial sound that almost seems like an electric guitar at times. It takes some of the charm away.

      ELDORIA
      Once upon a time...
      In the prosperous kingdom of Eldoria, a dark cloud loomed over the land. The beloved king had been brutally murdered in his own chambers, leaving the queen, Alara, pregnant with their first child. To make matters worse, the crown jewels, a symbol of the kingdom's wealth and power, had been stolen.
      Chaos gripped Eldoria as news of the king's death spread like wildfire. Whispers of foul play and treachery filled the air, causing unrest among the people. Meanwhile, barbarians from the north, known for their brutality and savagery, began invading coastal villages, pillaging, raping the women, stealing children and crops. Desperate, Queen Alara knew that she could not face this crisis on her own. She called upon the surrounding kingdoms for help, but many refused, caught up in their own wars and conflicts. However, two neighboring kingdoms, Everwood and Silvercrest, answered her call for aid.
      From Everwood, a tiny kingdom from the East, came a band of skilled cavalry men and their horses. They were fierce warriors, known for their loyalty and bravery in battle. From Silvercrest, to the West, came their best knights, bowmen, and engineers, ready to lend their expertise in siege warfare. Together, this mishmash army of soldiers must find a way to uncover the killer, retrieve the stolen treasure, and protect Queen Alara and her unborn child from harm.
      It seemed that everyone wanted to kill the baby, for he was the last remaining heir to the throne. As the army marched towards the north, they encountered fierce resistance from the barbarians, who were determined to conquer Eldoria at any cost. The battles were bloody and brutal, with lives lost on both sides. Yet, the army pressed on, fueled by their determination to bring peace back to their land.
      In the midst of the chaos, a traitor emerged from within their midst, a shadowy figure with a hidden agenda. It was revealed that he had orchestrated the king's murder and the theft of the crown jewels, all in a bid to seize power for himself. With a cunning mind and a silver tongue, he had turned those closest to him against each other, sowing seeds of distrust and betrayal. But Queen Alara, with the help of her loyal allies, uncovered the traitor's plot and brought him to justice.
      In a climactic battle at the heart of the kingdom, the army vanquished the barbarians and reclaimed the stolen treasure, restoring peace and order to Eldoria once more. As the dust settled and the kingdom began to heal, Queen Alara gave birth to a healthy baby boy, the new prince of Eldoria. The people rejoiced, for they saw in him a beacon of hope and a promise of a brighter future.
      And so, a new era dawned in Eldoria, one of unity, strength, and prosperity. The queen stood strong, a symbol of resilience and grace, as she raised her son to be a fair and just ruler. Together, they rebuilt their kingdom from the ashes of war and chaos, forging a legacy that would endure for generations to come.
