The signalling works exactly same for metro on network rail, they just have different magnets placed on the network rail signals so you’ll have magnets for mainline trains and magnets for metros should they go through a red to stop the train with train stop equipment

I would imaging the same as any time you integrate a couple of system together. Never really thought about it if I'm honest. :)
