Flyseyes is such a interesting character and offers such an interesting idea of hell and the philosophy of humans. Thankfully he does come back so you'll get to look forward to that
Flyseyes' scene with Isaac is probably my favorite scene of the season. Isaac's face at the end. And there's more iirc. The impact of philosophical dialogs in Isaac's scenes are definitely more impactful and meaningful to me than any flashy tunnel and crazy magic fight scenes to me.
This show loves conversation. Good dialogue between two people is by far the most difficult thing to write. Isaac has two killer conversations that are right up there with the magnificent fights: this one and the one with the Captain.
Took me awhile to get what Isaac's conversation was about, but I think I've found the answer. Since Night creatures (or at least Isaac's) are sinners pulled from hell, they are in essence the bad people that Isaac wants to get rid of. Since Isaac is still debating with himself whether or not he wants to go through with Killing everyone, he wanted to pry into the one demon he has to gain a better perspective. When most people think of sinners/criminals we think of the worst kinds of people, but to our surprise the Philosopher's story is much like Lisa's. Not only that but his supposed sin was completely understandable, he was tortured, he was afraid and in that fear he chose survival,how can you blame him, I know I'd do the same thing if I was him and yet he now has to suffer for all eternity for one moment of weakness instead of the years of good he practiced on earth. I think this shows Isaac that judging humans aren't quite simple. People don't always do bad things out of malice, but rather out of fear, much like how the people of Genoa didn't trust Isaac not because they hated him, but because they were fearful of him. At least that's how I see things.
That's good insight. Isaac is humanity's judge. He condemns them at first because humanity is a cruel and wicked race. Then the Captain reminds him that despite all the evil, we possess the capacity for generosity and friendship. Then Flyeyes reminds him that even our sins are often a result of trying to live a "godly" life (in Isaac's eyes as a Muslim anyway, but for Lisa it would be a life of reason). Everyone learns from this season (which everyone points out is the darkest and least heroic season), but Isaac's lesson is the least painful because he keeps his eyes open.
Just a friendly reminder to everyone that Flyeyes is voiced by Gildart Jackson, who also voiced the Major in Hellsing Ultimate. The man has now appeared in two shows that have a vampire named Alucard, will we see a third some day?
I truly love the world building of the forge masters theyre basically agents of God giving sinners their pennace on earth again giving them a secind chance to live but its so good that they aren't wholly good or evil they're just a tool and the more you learn about the tool the more completely you can use it, what I mean is most people treat the nightcreatures just as monsters but Issac is digging into his power more and realizing that theyre not just monsters theyre living intelligent beings paying fir their sin by serving him so fucking good.... specifically flyeyes is one of my favorite characters even though he has such a small role this conversation is one of the best in the series its so good I love it
If I had a nickle for everytime Saint Germaine appeared as a time traveller in a setting that took place before he was alive, I'd have two nickles which isn't alot but it's wierd that it's happened more than once.
Oh yeah, things are starting to get insane. This is where it gets into really good territory, in some ways it even tops S2 end-game despite that awesome Dracula boss-fight.
I need to point this out for the sake of future episode but Sumi and Taka are NOT siblings by blood. This has been confirmed by the makers of the show. There is NO blood relation between them. They were raised as siblings but they have different parents.
They look like twins (the same face, different hair styles, the boy has freckles). Unless the creators thought that all Japanese looked the same. Which they clearly didn't because Cho, the vampire hunter she fought, and other people in her court don't look like those two at all. But of course the creators would say Sumi and Taka were not related when confronted with the question.

Personally, I absolutely LOVED Flyseyes monologue. This episode was easily one of the best of S3 in my opinion and it had no action.
