  • Hello ‪@Pushpalbanerjee‬
Since 1996, Tramjatra has been a global collaboration of artists, tram enthusiasts, communities, and environmentalists, which is celebrated in Melbourne and Kolkata. This festival celebrates the value of trams through awareness campaigns for healthy living, cultural heritage, and sustainability The tramways carnival is back in Kolkata after a gap of four years, to mark 150 years of the only operational tram system in the country. The city first saw the tram rolled out on the tracks on February 24, 1873.

An event no one has experienced before
A celebration to keep in memory forever.....
Calcutta's iconic trams are on street to give a visual treat to each n everyone....Due to the 150th years of Calcutta Trams❤️
Starting from Watering car, single coached tram "Balaka" to the former Hati gari named as "Chaitali", the queen "Paatrani" along with Museum tram containing partition history of Bengal, The "Art Gallery" tram, a classic vintage tram 705 with cushioned seats in both classes & one Air conditioned single coached tram....They all made this afternoon memorable. Happy to get a ride in Balaka today for the entire route.
1918, 1924, 1948, 1975, 1982, 1988 all year trams were on track today to make this parade successful.
Thanks to all of them who made this lovely event possible.

A delight and pleasure to watch. It is now over 33 years since I last rode a Kolkata tram. So glad Kolkata stayed sane and kept trams. Melbourne is so glad they kept them too...that was a close call in the late 1950s--early 1060s.

Mamata didi didn't start the tram service in Kolkata. It was the British who started this service. Now remove Mamata govt & allow modern trams, such as metro Neo & metro lite.
