    SO HARD TO FIND a good restaurant that makes any type of Egg Foo Young. Appreciate the fluffy version. Can't wait to make it this way!!! Looks like my childhood from the 80's!!!

      Seems nowadays there’s no concern for overly greasy food. Greasy egg foo young is the worst. But if done correctly, my fave

      Really? Every Chinese restaurant I’ve ordered from in the last 25 years has had egg foo young on their menu. It’s the only thing my mom likes to order:) Maybe it s a Northeastern US thing?

      @@dexterbushrod3176 I went to a family owned Chinese Restaurant in Dayton OH. The food was steamed, baked, or fried with very little oil. The egg foo yung was outstanding! I experimented and now make mine the same way. Done right, it doesn't need deep-frying to make it taste good.

    I'm hoping to run into you someday. I love how you're all about cooking. You make my cooking life a whole lot easier. I love how you acknowledge that others in your family might cook food a little differently. Same here. I'm old enough to be your mother, but now that I am retired and have time to cook; and I found someone that cooks so much as my mother did, who was always in the kitchen cooking. I sure do appreciate you. She raised 10 of us and I was so busy helping with the cleaning that I did not have time to learn to cook, like my sisters. (They didn't like cleaning.) But, she did teach us all how to make flour tortillas. I remember my mother's cooking, and you cook so much like her. Now I have time to cook for my family whatever is on your channel. I hope you have plenty of days off to spend with your lovely family. You deserve it. God bless you, dear. Oh and another thing, I'm also married to an Asian (Chinese) and he can't wait for this egg foo young.

    I love egg foo young and use to make it all the time in Texas. I lived where there were lots of Asian markets and fresh bean sprouts. Today I live in a small town in New Mexico and finding bean sprouts is so hard. Believe it or not, I can find them once in and while at a market called Sprouts in Albuquerque. I think it is time to drive to the market and buy ingredients for Egg Foo Young!! I really what to try your sauce with it. Thank you!

    • @bensebaugh6017

      The mung bean sprouts here in grocery stores are awful, Tennessee.
      Just grow them, wash the mung beans, soak, rinse them once a day and keep in a dark place you can make with a piece of aluminum foil to block the light.
      Buy two matching plastic containers, make holes in one (the inner one with the beans) take this one out daily and rinse both then put them back together.
      Avoid the gimmicky advice wanting you to buy stuff and kits, it is super easy and tutorials all over online. If you want straight sprouts look for tall containers that will grow what you plan to use in a week or so.
      Discard unsprouted beans early and hulls, pinch the roots when done (much easier when they grow straight) and enjoy fresh bean sprouts for pennies on the dollar over inferior store bought.
      One caveat though, you have to keep the containers clean and rinse daily or bacteria and mold can set in. and really wash the containers well in between batches.

    • @johnforrest6887
      @johnforrest6887 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You should try sprouting your own mung bean sprouts ! It's fun and super easy. I sprout mine in a quart Mason jar but the options are endless. Plenty of TH-cam videos for doing your own. It only takes 3 or 4 days to do a jar full and they will keep for a week or more in the fridge. Good luck

    I once had a friend in Houston, we worked in an office on Post Oak Road. There was a little Japanese Food place near there that was our hangout. At that time I wasn't crazy about Egg Foo Yung but he ate it 3 times a day. After a while I got hooked on it, too and before I knew it I was hooked on Egg Foo Yung, too. He is gone now bless his heart but the Good Lord Is keeping me here for some reason, I don't know why? To give the young Doctors an old man to practice on I suppose. When my friends ask me how I have managed to age with no close relatives I tell them I have been blessed by the Good Lord who watches my health and I have good doctors who take

    I love egg foo young and have eaten it in many restaurants over the years, but your version looks so fresh and appetizing.

    This was absolutely delicious! I also added baby scallops & caramelized onions needed them out of the freezer.

    Made this tonight along with Shrimp Fried Rice - it was delicious. Easy recipe and came out better than any restaurant egg foo young. Thanks
